Because without mist they cost too much. The price of a weapon slot increased from 175kce to 250ce, and the price of the Trinket slot increased from 75ce to 150ce. It costs too much. Lower costs of both by 75ce!

They last for 30 days. You can buy a trinket slot with two FSC runs, and a weapon slot with 3. That's 10 FSC runs a month with profit too, plus you'll have enough tokens to vendor an ancient plate piece for another 30k.
With elevators being free, you can earn more crowns in a day than your mist would compensate for, you just have to play the game rather than wait.

Have you ever bothered to do the math for weapon and trinket slots?
Trinket slots are 150 energy for 30 days, which is 5 energy a day, which is roughly 400 crowns.
Weapon slots are 250 energy for 30 days, which is ~8.33 energy a day, which is roughly 650 crowns.
To keep two trinket slots and two weapon slots constantly active, you need roughly 2100 crowns a day. According to Lancer_Knightz that's between two and three floors a day, less if you're running something like FSC or the Danger Missions.
If you feel that you really need all 4 slots open, then that's a rather small price to play for someone who (probably) is playing very frequently.

I said to myself "Oh, I'll save some money by going a month without slots"... what a mistake, severely hamstrings you and saves you less than the tip on getting a foot long sub delivered to your office.
