So I was using some barriers I had picked up desperately in an arena... and I experienced these little chinks along with no damage after a few hits with the barrier on some greavers, what are these things, and why do the occur?
Barriers... with these weird sounds.

Invincibility tinks. Just take a step back and back in, it'll hurt them again.
Or whatever they're unofficially called. The game puts limits on how many hits some attacks can have, (although the reasoning behind some of them is questionable), regardless. They occur basically because the attack did too many hits and lock them out of doing any more damage for a short while.
