So its awesome to have a Haven and such with the beautiful sun light and all. But what if there was a new way to see the arcade, garrison and bazzar all at once? Whats the suggestion? New haven types.

Imagine the gates that board off beyond the gates where the guards sit there lies a pathway all the way to a new haven? You could either teleport to the haven once unlocking it, or you could always fight alongside the tier 1 enemies to get quick loot and shtuff for that.

Imagine a new village type haven where there is obsidian flooring, lava pouring down the center with a bridge from one side to the other, The center holds a fountain spewing forth lava, unique snipes roam around hopping about all happily, new strangers give insight of their home land and players get to view different armors and weapons from the bazzar.

Or a village haven thats down south, holding a chilled feel to it. Snow falls, and an ice sculpture in the center of the haven town square. snow piles here and there and an option to toss flawed snowballs at players are hidden inside the snow piles. The bazzar could hold ice reistance armor and possibly newer items that are ice based. Fluffy baby wolvers could march around or penguin style snipes would waddle across hoping you'd drop a fish for them. Strangers would layer up to keep warm and tell you even more insight of the clockworks.

If you go westward you'd run into a canyon type area, with neutral lumbers roaming around. A tortodone would be walking about innocent as could be, players can get even more insight out of the strangers there and could even see unique armor that is only found around that area. Arcades would hold their own special style and the garrisons in these areas would not hold a Hall of heros but instead a new type of area that I feel could hold an awesome way to advertize items beyond that of the AH.

Shoppes

Yes we know that the auction house holds this idea but what I think could work, is an individual shoppe that players can open up to sell quality items that the trade chat wouldn't hold. Players would get 90% of what they offer and the way they can keep their shoppe from staying up is in a sense like the guild upkeep. If you want your shoppe active pay a certain amount weekly and you keep the shoppe for that time being. Players can offer a large range of items even opportunities to offer certain bound items if there is an additional fee given. (the forging unbound fee in either Energy or Crowns)

So wada ya think guys? Should we have this?

Well

It sounds awesome, but it might take a while to create the separate towns (although they'd be basically a re-skin), let alone program them into the game.

What is the sense?

I always found it so coincidental that the majority of the floors manage to spawn at one particular place. Is the haven some special sacred area that is the only spot where you can venture into the clockworks? If so how far did the knights have to delve to get to that area from the crash sight? Or what about other knights that managed to crash land in another area, what would happen to them? My point is, its a large world so for there to be only one opening for players to venture into is in a sense idiotic and lazy. Sorry to say but it is, the top world should have its own side quests to have players want to venture around the topside, not just the insides of the world.

All I said was it was gonna take a while to make and program any of the new areas, but okay.

I'd like a more "open-world" aspect to Spiral Knights, featuring open world mobs, more non-instanced towns, and a static overworld to explore. Unfortunately, I don't think that the dev team has the resources to be able to do this huge project in a good amount of time, so I'd rather them focus on building the challenge for T3 players.

One of my first suggestions was this + being able to buy spaceships and travel to other planets or the spiral knights home world but people here seem to have something against open world games.

You do realize that they have the time to reskin, and create costumes that have absolutely no effect on the game what so ever except style and money wise. To add something that is structured and more appealing is what they are looking for so they can get players to enjoy this game more. All it takes is a few reskins, and shaders then tada they're done (something they do on a common basis). Not to mention that all they would need to do for the other havens is just a copy and paste, then edit the constraints and vice versa something that shouldnt take 50 years to complete but not be done over night.

PS Im sure they have the resources to do so.

But could the servers handle it?

I have something you guys dont...faith

I honestly think it can, with the way the community is rising I see it in two ways:

One - they need to upgrade to more stronger servers to support what they have now which can also handle a more larger task like this.

Two - if they upgrade and its too much on their "perfect servers" then they can always hold the task out to a limit stream. Just like they do with our regular missions, and the advanced training hall. Players can have a limit of 6 to 8 depending on the area, and can venture out towards these new havens OR as I said above they could always just teleport from one source to the other just like we regularly do after they've found the haven.

Also along the way players can experience rare opportunities of mobs, exclusive mobs only found on this depth and even new weapons that can upgrade all the way to five stars.

When you're this swag this world just bows at your knees

You guys are spending too much time thinking about pointless things. The server only needs to process a player's X and Y location, and the name of the instance they're in. Nothing about that instance is stored on the server, except for NPC and shop X and Y locations. What makes you think a Haven reskin would take up any more server resources when "reskin" means "visuals"? The server is nothing more than a black cmd.exe box with white text scrolling through it, y'know. With the exception of a few virtualized verification checks, (which I don't need to explain because if you've ever programmed a multiplayer game you'll know about server-side anti-hack precautions, and if you haven't and can't figure it out for yourself then it's not worth me explaining it) everything is computed on the client. How do you think you're still able to collide with walls and objects even when you've lost connection with the server?
