We are actually downloading very huge patches every update?
The patches aren't always large. More likely, your internet connection is slow at the time you are downloading the patch.
The Auction House patch was huge, and took longer than usual, but most patches really don't take long at all.
OK seriously people, if you were redownloading the client every time it updated it. It would NEVER be able to download a patch in under 3 min for me. Never. Because it would have to download the client+every patch ever released.
What it does is it does a hash check/checksum to the file to read the data to determine if it matches the key or base that it's looking for. If it doesn't match, it updates.
God it's not that complicated.
You probably just have a crappy connection.
Trust me it's working JUST fine, ahem for Java anyway.
You aren't redownloading the entire client -.-
It does a checksum to dertermine if it needs patching and then it downloads the patch..
