its October 20, 2013 and there is still no Dark Harvest Festival update, will it be cancelled? But if it does come out in a few days and has the same ending date then no one will be able to get an authentic mask without paying over 10k crowns.

IT WILL COME.
The people who got the masks last year spent either crowns, or had enough time and ce to endlessly run the Arcade.
Because of free elevators, there is no cap on how many tokens you can get in a day.
Thus, the update is being released later.

Shortest Halloween Event Evar :p
Not everyone who plays this game will take up all their waking hours to play SK. Most people aren't going to cram token hunting into more hours just because elevators are free. People who farmed it last year anyhow did it solo and invited alts into their party (you could run multiple copies of sk with separate mist during the last dh. ).

Learning from the past
Given the last Dark Harvest Festival's costume yield, the market was inundated with a deluge of costume pieces and accessories, some of which still languish on the Auction House today. Now that elevators cost nothing to operate, combine with what we saw last year and you can figure that a 1-week harvest festival would make a lot more sense to possibly restrict the flow of costume sets and accessories of this theme.
I'd be a bit more happy if the Katastrophy was included in this event though.
