I've always wanted to craft this beast of a shield but never had the time to find a good UV'd Plate Shield. I don't really mind if UV's are a waste on shields but I just wanted to know if this UV will make it better. Like will it be better on some fire hazards or some monster attacks..

Probably not.

I was under the impression

I was under the impression that the max'd out resistance stat on the Volcanic Plate Shield already made the shield immune to the fire (and stun) portion of the damage from attacks on it.

There's a few options that could result from the double max:

1) Nothing. Take the same damage to your shield from fire based attacks.
2) Increased resistance to attacks with fire-infusion.
3) Zeddy will run billions of tests with you as a guinea pig.

You could turn a fire-max plateshield into an Ironmight instead, and have the fire/stun max as well as some piercing defense, and a pretty red sheen to your shield.

For Sale

I actually have a Fire Max Volcanic Plate Shield for sale. I rolled the Fire Max UV when I was ragecrafting plate shields, and then I upgraded it to the Volcanic to sell.

From what I recall, in testing against fire traps it lasts longer than my Crest of Almire, so I think the UV definitely helps.

If you are interested in buying it, make an offer?

FYI.

I have a Fire Max Owlite shield and the UV does absolutely nothing. Same probably applies for that one.
