For both group and solo play, where should I put my maskeraith's skill points?
(Maskeraith) What to spend skill points on?
I'm skipping upgrading the defense of my cloak until everything else is done, it doesn't seem as useful. I maxed out quills first so I'd have something I could use a lot, then cooldown on cloak, then the time the cloak lasts. (The timer until you can use your maskeraith again begins when you use it, so a cloak that lasts longer also lets you be able to use cloak again sooner.) Now I'm working on the haze points, again cooldown time first.
I maxed the quills as usual but never put any points into the cloak. Only after I got haze did I put all my points into haze and maxed that out immediately.
I'd also prioritize damage and bonuses over the cooldown. The cooldown is long anyways and it's rare that you'll get off more than one sprite power per skirmish. A few seconds off the CD isn't going to change much IMO.
I use cloak probably as much as I use quills, because it's so useful for sneaking past anything I'd rather not fight. Quills isn't as useful to me since I practically have no idea how to use it.
Do something like this order:
Quills cooldown
Quills damage (for the sake of more quills, not actually for the damage)
Cloak duration
Hexing Haze damage
Hexing Haze duration
Hexing Haze cooldown
Cloak Cooldown
rest is irrelevant
I think Quill poison can be ignored. Last I checked it was bugged and did nothing.
More quills doesn't have a great effeect on single monsters, as there is a silly hit limit of 4. But I would, like Zeddy said, quills first, then wait for haze, max that out, then cloak. Cloak doesn't shine that much until you get the ultimates.
When my Masky was a baby/juvenile, I always put skill points from top to bottom. however when Hexing haze comes, it's best to extend its duration first.
I use quills most if I want to sentence a monster to death: just passing a lumper, fill his stomach with quills and even a protogun can kill him now (for team play).
I also recommend quills for Vanaduke since I usually shiver and I can give all the needlers around me a nice damage boost with my poision.
After all quills are a good choice to take out one certain enemy very fast with less hits than you usually need (like using quills and then shoot one magazine with your gun or just let him burn down by the combo quils+fire) or getting rid of menders who are not able to heal themselves anymore.
The downside is that it is not such a good area attack unless you stand very far away and shoot many quills into a crowd of enemies. I can tell you more when I unlocked the ultimate version.
Cloaking... well i barely use it since I rather get rid of enemies via dash. And actually there is no enemy that makes me want to sneak aay and hide since i want to kill everything anyways. Only the offense boosts of the ultimate version could be nice.
Haxing Haze is only useful if you got many enemies and it works bets if these enemies got less health and actually die by only one haze. I like to use it in the left-down room of the 2nd depth of the Jelly Kings mission.
nice question see of of you skills need to be levaled because when you acuallty come to ULTIMATES (changing the look of you maskeraith) you
skill points are reset so when your maskeraith is leval 89 then make sure to have maxed out you skills.
I'm gonna go against the grain here. Of course, it depends on your play style and other factors, but generally, I would advise to save up all your points and dump 'em in Cloak when you get the chance.
Cloak can significantly/noticeably change your SK experience. It's not just a matter of hiding from enemies when things get rough. It lets you get better positioning to do whatever it is you're trying to do. For instance, let's take the JK first map. After the 2nd room, you have a choice of going to either a left or right room for statues. On the left room are spikes and a bunch of blocks you remove by hitting a ghost block. Normally, once you hit that ghost block, you'll be swarmed by enemies and spikes will prevent your escape. But if you hit the block and then turn on Cloak, you can bypass the enemies and return to the entrance, where it becomes a HECK of a lot easier to deal with them. Similarly, on the right room are a bunch of Gun Puppies. Cloak will let you get close and behind them to maximise the damage you can do.
Speed runs also become far easier/plausible. Whether it be clockworks or candlesticks or graveyards, Cloak will let you bypass hordes of enemies.
Quills is nice as is Haze. Maskie's skills are all usable. But nothing is as game changing/experience expanding as cloak. If you upgrade to say, Deadly Cloak later, you pretty much have a free double damage buff for each room you enter.
So my vote is Cloak.
It doesn't matter, in that all of your sprite's skills will end up completely maxxed out.
While you are waiting for that to happen, I suggest that you place skill points on the skill that you use most: darts, cloak, or hex. Speaking for myself, I use darts and cloak much more than the hex.
Within each skill, my suggestion is that you enhance cooldown time first. This will help you get into the habit of using your skills, rather than regarding a sprite as a curiosity who happens to give a perk.
