OOO has never said that inactive characters would be deleted.

Err...

I don't think they delete accounts for being idle for a while. Your account may be banned if you break the terms of service, which is similar to deletion on the user's end.

Ummm.... A year ago a friend of mine joined SK and I was 4* back then. He quit about a month later.

A week ago, he said he was coming back, and told me his guy was deleted. I looked at his Steam SK inventory and that there is proof that his old character was gone.

I remember Y!PP did that

I really hope that isn't the case. My brother had an account on Puzzle Pirates, he forgot about the game and quit it for a while and it was deleted when he came back.

If anything, OOO should mark inactive accounts as such, and free up their knight name for anyone who may desire it (for example, I want my name changed to Whimsy); upon returning from inactivity,(say, a year or two), if someone else claims their name, they will receive a free name change pass.

A much nicer alternative than being mysteriously deleted.

One can hope.
