[I am not sure if this was already posted before, but I couldn't find a thread about it, so...]

I'm quite sure there are some or even a lot people already owning at least one of the obsidian weapons, so please answer me: Do they have the same attack pattern (including charge) as the alchemy line has, or are these special weapons featuring a new, maybe unique one?

Was just a thought of mine, because these are special weapons, so they could have a special attack pattern...

.

Different animations for their charge ups, but otherwise the same.

It's the same weapons but with less damage and poison.

They look really cool, though. I wish they put this amount of effort into the Cleavers.

Thanks for the answer....
quite not sure whether I should take the sword or the gun, any advise? (I don't want the bomb, because I already have the Dark Retribution)

And can someone post pictures or videos of the charge attacks of each of the three weapons, please?

You should get the bomb. It's nothing like Dark Retribution.

How is the Crusher compared

How is the Crusher compared to EV?

Utility-wise, I guess it just boils down to poison vs. other statuses:

* Edge: poison Acheron
* Carbine: poison Sentenza
* Crusher: poison Graviton

The bomb may be nothing like the DR but is it really better (for example with JK)?

I don't use bombs two often and so I do not know if the new one is worth so much for me.... it's quite hard for me to get the needed amount of money.

So is the bomb really this good?

I feel like it's better than EV. Haven't had any problems of the bomb making enemies spread out and hindering that is mostly what EV had over GV

But then, I use EV as a damage/control hybrid and not just to set up Brandishes.

When fighting gremlins, I'd usually bring Venom Veiler over Graviton because of menders. Now we have a bomb that functions as both of them!

The Vortex Bombs are fantastic, even for a non-bomber, particularly is you're a Chaos user.

Since you're not a Bomber, you may want either the Sword or Gun though. I don't know how effective they are, but let's face it, they look super cool. But being based on the Vortex bombs, the Obsidian Crusher has far greater utility.

Its ability to suck in enemies will make you the most beloved member of any party. Since you have the power to turn entire armies of enemies into sitting ducks.

Next to that, perhaps you'll want the Obsidian Carbine instead. It's a fast shooting gun which will let you tag multiple enemies with poison. It's the Gunner's answer to the Venom Veiler bomb.

this is sad.

so if I have Acheron, Sentenza, Graviton - & im neither interested in poison status nor aesthetics - then there is no reason to get the new gears ?

Why wouldn't you be interested in poison? Do you never fight gremlins?

@Zeddy

actually, I have DVS, venom veiler & toxic catalyser. im not sure if poison was nerfed. as a haze bomb, I thought fire haze was more effective.
im tempted to get the new sets of gears cos they look nice, but feel a silly grinding for something just solely for looks.

Well, it wouldn't be just for looks, as the poison on Carbine makes it arguably better than Sentanza.

I like the weapons.

I only got the Obsidian Edge, and yes I own an Acheron. It may not pack as much damage as the latter but the Strong Poison is a real highpoint. Mostly a Shadow/Poison Brandish [something I always wanted.]

As for the other weapons. I think Carbine makes a better DPS+Poison proc than Biohazard, the Crusher doesn't appeal to me as such. It could've been better off if it was an Obsidian Shard Bomb [Dark Matter anyone?] for a Poison/Shadow bomb but that's just my opinion.

All attack patterns are the same, just with tentacle - Lovecraft aesthetic.

Carbine's much easier to aim than Biohazard for enemies far away - there are more bullets and you don't have to lead so much. In fact, as a Volatile Catalyzer user, I find that often enemies have changed direction by the time that the pig-slow bullet gets there, making it considerably more effective as a close-range manual-detonation bomb.

TL;DR Carbine's better at long range; Biohazard is probably better at short range due to the charge.
