Many players already have all of their Apocrea loot, and there's nothing in this event that can be sold or traded to other players without an unbind. What will get players to participate in Apocrea the next time it comes around?

Dark Harvest used to operate in a similar fashion, but then 000 added prize boxes as a reward for excess pieces of candy. I feel like an outlet for excess apocrean sigils would similarly increase participation in the future.

I think the only way for people to participate again is if they made more obsidian weapons.
Obsidian shard bomb, Obsodian Blitz, Obsodian Heavy Sword, Obsidian Shield.
Those are just off the top of my head; I'm sure someone else has better suggestions for Obsidian weapons.

A crystal version of a Stone Tortoise would fit the obsidian sets I think.
On topic, I will keep playing the mission because I want to get one million tokens. I have always wanted to see what one million items looks like and this is the best way to do it as you get thousands at a time.

The biggest annoyance for me is that the only weapons craftable are 5* weapons. Tier 2 knights can run this and get... what? They aren't going to be able to afford the 5* equipment.
There needs to just be a use for the tokens, other than weapon crafting.
Also, don't make the "Some people already have all the weapons" argument. There were people with lvl 100 sprites within days of sprites being released. That doesn't mean you need to add another thousand levels and a few dozen more skill trees.

Sad to say, t2 and lower is basically the poor man's, middle class, trash class. T3 knights have proven themselves as hardworking, and are rewarded for said work. But lower tiers? What can they do? They can't fight our worst enemies, all they're good for is warning the real knights when the danger is coming

But not all of the sprites right? And they probably poured massive amounts of money into it, whereas playing normally, you can have all of the apocrea stuff in 4-5 days if you don't suck, just doing the prestige mission once a day. Potentially even less if you're lucky (possible to get 4-5k tokens in one run).

There were people who got all the sprites maxed out the in a few days after they could get multiples.
And admittedly you don't need to run it a lot, but it's still enough to fill a week or so. I'd rather have extra time during an event than be strapped for time and scramble to finish them. For example, the Katastrophe, you *HAD* to grind candlestick keeps to get just one 5* Kat hat. Books of the Dark Ritual were reserved for either the rich, or the chosen of Fortuna, the goddess of luck. You were heavily pressured to grind, and even then due to the nature of luck, nothing was guaranteed.
With the Apocrea, you are free to not have to grind every day. I agree that there should be some other use for tokens other than weapons to give some incentive to continue to get more tokens, like being able to turn tokens into Obsidian Prize Boxes (probably at a steep cost though). However, just because it doesn't fill every hour of the day doesn't mean it needs more content. Just getting lvl 10 4* pieces of equipment already eats up a lot of resources.

Looks like 000 has spoken, and seen the event was way too quickly defeated by skilled players. Let's all be honest, an event like this shouldn't be completely defeated in 3-4 hours.
I'm glad they made the change, although it sadly does not effect me, since I've already got everything I need from it : /

The Obsidian Shield is a new accessory item from 1.1 update. It is made from the Cobalt Shield and Obsidian Skull, and combines their functionality as well as their defense. It will prevent you from being knocked back and stop you from being burnt by Hellstone and Meteorite.
I'd like this. Roughly. In SK.

Nothing motivates me to play it even now.
The gear is nothing particularly interesting and I don't care if it looks cool.
The effort you need to go to, getting thousands of those Sigils, is just ridiculous when you end up getting a boring shadow weapon that inflicts poison.

HAVE you seen those smexy textures on the Obsidian Crusher? The pure awesomeness of the glowing signs on the glowing obsidian floating on the mysterious glowing energy is just too awesome for awesomeness to depict and make sense. The pure awesomeness about the fact that hands come out of the ground when you place the bomb is too awesome for awesomeness itself to explain in a decently coherent sentence so I'm gonna stop right now but just remember the awesomely awesome weapons are too awesome and they are just AWESOME.

Reasons people who have already played this will come back:
It's hard. That's enough for the hordes of players who clamor for new challenges. Speed runs, runs in proto armor, runs in non-typical gear etc.
Lots of arenas--sure, fiend arenas are hard, but ^ people will play them, and anyone who has shadow def gear and lots of SoLs next time it comes around can get loads of crowns and mats from it in a short amount of time.
players that have all things, nothing if not the peculiar stage.
players that don't have all the things, they can get them.
