Is there some sort of system to what recipes you see at Basil? I'm trying to find recipes for the Shroud event, but sometimes I see the same recipes. I got Silversix 3 times in a row. Is it time based? Does every gate have a different Basil? Is it random?
WAT EIS IT
How the Basil Recipe System Works
I've gotten charged quicksilver mail and Snarby line items all day. WHAT IS THIS? D:
Can someone please answer? I'm dying to know D:
Basil recipes change every 24 hours at 11pm Pacific time
Different recipes per tier
@Grittle
Really? How come? I thought Basil had randomly chosen recipes every time the level loads, they follow guidelines based on stars and tier but other than that its just luck and if you try over and over on the same day you'll get it in time.
I've been to basil 6 or so times today. I don't feel like it's truly random. I feel like there's a set 20 that may appear within how many recipes Basil decided to sell, and maybe 5 in that pool that are truly random. I usually get around 15 recipes when I get to him, and a lot have been the same.
Can anyone else add? Is there a definite answer?
@Dr.Halp
Sorry, I was thinking 2011
Basil has change too much over the years
I am 100% sure Basil is COMPLETELY random. You just got the short end of the stick.
@Zaderules, I ran basil two more times and got the same (more or less) recipes that I did all the other times. It's like at least half of the recipes are the same for the day
Snarby items and Charged Quicksilver line were in all of the encounters if I remember right. How can you tell me that's random? D:
I'm going by the idea that basil has 30 recipes for a day and shuffles them. Then presents somewhere around 15 to you, with maybe 2 truly random ones.
I did basil twice in the same gate of the same tier today and he did not have the same recipes.
basically what Batabii said, I have done many runs with entirely different things
also if he only selected from thirty or so a day that would mean that MANY recipes would be unobtainable for days at a time. I don't think that's the intent of the system.
I might do multiple runs tomorrow and list what I find
I think Grittle was thinking of Vatel.
I've heard a rumour that Basil has a higher chance to stock more recipes if the party progressed through the tier prior, but I haven't gotten around to confirming it yet.
Creating a party and running all the way to basil will get you the full list, joining at basil will get an empty list
If you're responding to me, that has nothing to do with what I just said.
It surprises me how Zeddy hasn't confirmed/proved this false yet.
I ran many runs from Emberlight to Basil this weekend, and the recipes were different every time.
However, yesterday a friend of mine said Basil threw out the exact same recipes two runs in a row.
The recipes are randomly generated for every run.
For recipes to appear you need to at very least take an elevator to the previous floor and an elevator to the clockwork terminals floor. For example for someone to access recipes on depth 23 that person needs to use the elevator on depth 21 to get to depth 22 as well as the elevator from depth 22 to depth 23.
If you get all the way to the depth prior to the terminal, leave the party (if there's other people like friends), then rejoin when they get to the terminal, you can still get recipes. Although this was some time ago, so I'm not sure if you can do this still. As for the Basil system, it's supposed to change at random intervals in game time.
That's correct. The only thing you really have to do is be in both of the two floors before the terminal in the expedition. You don't have to complete them, you can join depth 11 then leave, join depth 12 then leave, then join depth 13 and the recipes will be there.
Basil doesn't need you.
Basil is Basil.
Basil will give you whatever he dang well pleases, whenever he dang well pleases.
Me murdered his own snipe with A FOLDED RECIPE.
Don't mess with Basil, yo.
He looking for shroud of apocrea recipe lol.
He looking for shroud of apocrea recipe lol.
He looking for shroud of apocrea recipe lol.
Basil always trolls you. He reads your mind through your computer screen, figures out the one recipe you need, and then never lets you have it until just after you have acquired it through other means.
