Slooms: Glitch in generation, or a source of Zee Cores for the Gunner Update?

Just wondering.

If it's the latter, I'm hoping something like TF2's "Vintage" items are applied to existing Zee Cores. 'Twould suck if they lost all value!

Unintended feature. Buggy sleep, no arsenal station, no announcement etc. leads me to believe 000 did not expect this to happen.

Midnight-Dj may be right. Lots of trollers. May also be a glitch OOO did not intend to happen. Who knows? All I know is that Nick will eventually tell us. :3

its not a glitch, its part of level generation, except the chance for this to show up is very rare. we never had it before because we had "player-generated" stratums. ever since they abolished that, i wonder what the green and blue crystals will be used for, and if i should stock up now.

However, i do not fail to consider the fact that it's probably a teaser from OOO regarding the gunner update. (for multiple reasons)

- getting us used to gunning (because of the sloombargos)
- possibly meaning a new gun will use the Zee Core as an ingredient???

Features released for the game are almost never going to not be publicized by 000.

And no, it was not "very rare". It was non-existent. Plenty of gates had spawned jelly in the past without it ever having spawned before. The last time starlight cradle had been seen was the beta. Suddenly, once 000 makes some changes to gate mechanics, an old map returns in tier 1 with zero fanfare? I don't see the intent at all. Especially with the lack of arsenal stations, buggy sleep, etc.

If a 000 employee comes into this thread and says "Yes, we had planned and prepared to launch starlight cradle on a random day of the week in a tier 1 stratum with zero fanfare", I will split evenly among participants of this thread 10k CE.

and it's an error. they probably reintroduced the system from when there were no minerals controlling the clockworks and forgot to eliminate sleep.

in for the CE too just in case...

.. but it is most likely an unintentional map left in the possible set of rotating maps once they got rid of mineral deposits for arcade rotation.

Since it happened on a weekend (there are never any patches during weekends--remember, they are employees with work hours and most likely no overtime pay!) it just hasn't been addressed yet.

Is "I'll give x CE to y people" the Spiral Knights equivalent to "I'll eat my hat!"?

They didn't put any sort of special notice on the wings in the supply depot during the battle sprites sale. Doubt they'll do that for a material.

I'm pretty sure it's a glitch. For me, the tell-tale is how there are no arsenal stations. If they intended to re-introduce a level, they'd probably at least look at it before re-introducing it.

A sale on an existing item =/= the return of an often requested set of levels not seen since the beta. Not to mention the timing of it just makes no sense at all except as a bug.

What ever OOO did to make the new random gen of the gates happened to resulted in a sloom floor. Now this first sighting might be a bug but I really dont think this is the last time we will see our sleepy friends. Ever since the removal of player generated floors I wondered what might show up, this may only be the first of many old maps (and enemies?... spoilers darling).

When money is involved, opinions change

Both the items (if we are being hypothetical here) were in the game for a "limited time", and introduced again in the future. Three Rings didn't add a special label to an existing item, and the likelihood of them doing such a thing now seems rather bogus.

But yes, I also believe this to be a bug. I have no real explanation for it otherwise.

Revamped models for what? Those sloom models are the same models that have been there for a while.

If you're talking about something else... that's completely unrelated and as far as I know amounts to discussion about unreleased content.

It is related to the topic at hand. I am just saying the file used for slooms have been updated recently (though maybe not changed, they have been look at by OOO). I am trying to be vague to not release spoilers, but it isnt working!

The sleep-themed levels

The sleep-themed levels showing up in the Arcade is a bug and will be fixed as soon as possible. This will unfortunately require cycling in a new set of gates.

Look on the bright side, we got to experience an old stage not seen previously, and 000 got to see strong positive reception towards them so you never know whether or not that might influence their future plans.

I've only had a chance to run it once thus far, and it really is a fun departure from normal (and seems rather complete already?) Would be great to leave them in the game, maybe see it in T2 or T3.

repeated bug

This exact "bug" happened on the test server months ago. They probably re-used the code. Slooms appeared at a depth 2 level on the test server at some point earlier this year.

@xtweeterx they're re-randomizing it I thought.

I think people are just too easily excited/disappointed.

Slooms are novel, I'll give em that much. But at the end of the day they're just another slime.
