Auction house? More like "lose cheap items because of timezones" house.

What's the deal with this,

It's getting in my nerves that once you bid on a medium, short or very short you better not go to bed or do a run or something.
Because once you place your bid, your train has arrived into the everlasting bidding war city.
You can't turn your back for 5 seconds without losing the item you want.

Wouldn't it be better to just make a Spiral Knights app in which we can chat/bid already?

I'm sick of losing awesome stuff because of time zone restrictions.

It's not so simple to just make an app for this. Sure it would be useful and all but it's not really worth the time and money. It wouldn't be very useful if you went to bed either :U

Auto-bidding.

A mobile app would kill the market, and probably make more bidding wars. All the serious traders would have it so no good deals would ever be had with them being able to scour the market from their pocket rather than a PC.

@Bzzts
Your argument is neither pro nor con. Having the auction house more accessible means that sellers are more likely to have their merchandise bidded on, and therefore get a more fair price.

The main thing is that just because you found an item that's cheap doesn't mean you are entitled to the item.

As for the Time Zone issue, well, that's really just a matter of dedication to the game. If you are stuck in a bidding war and want things badly enough, then sacrifice things in life to get them. Otherwise accept the fact that you will always lose items to, you know, live your life.

The only reasonable modification to the Auction House is to add an Item History feature and look up what previous listings of a particular item ended at/were sold at. A buyer would complain this would drastically reduce his/her ability to auction snipe, but a seller would appreciate being able to do research on an item's market value and avoid being ripped off. To each his own, I suppose...

.

If you don't want to get in a bidding war, bid enough that the other guy won't try to bid above you.

Otherwise, you snooze you lose.

erhm...

I always wonder why people leave when they think that a medium or short or very short bid will be the last one...

I snipe items off people like you... because staying up 1 hours more is too hard? oh yeah mommy doesn't want right?

No apps for this, use your brain and logic and you should be fine

Edit: Apps would only kill most of the AH market, I get cheap items and can sell other at higher prize depending on when I put it vs others bids, the reason my apo crown sold at 1.1m cr is because the closest one was in Long... where you can get others at 700k cr because theres 2 other finishing at 30 minutes interval.... It's a market, it's economic, learn it or die trying

"because staying up 1 hours more is too hard? oh yeah mommy doesn't want right?"

Do you really have to resort to such a childish remark? Not everyone can stay up til 5 in the morning to bid on an item.

If anything the Auction Time system needs to be fixed to better show how much time is estimated to be left on an item, it's really too vague as is. Giving auctions real time counters would be too much though.

An app could be useful for other things

I'd love to have a mobile app where I can chat with friends and on the zone chat, play with or feed my battle sprite, buy things off the auction house and energy market, and even design costumes with the items I currently have in my arsenal. Maybe even make the supply depot fully assessable. Now this will probably never happen, but with enough features an official mobile app could work. Making an app for the sole purpose of bidding on the auction house seems rather boring.

You know what they should

You know what they should have done, they should have added an auto bid option. Buyers would have the chance of winning for less than their personal price ceiling, sellers would have the chance of earning more without worrying about listing at the right time of day. Everyone would win.

@OP Awww, lost your flourish

@OP

Awww, lost your flourish to someone who clearly deserves it more because they put the time into getting it? Sucks to be you.

Its an equal playing field, because you could be winning items in a similar fashion that you ose them. Quit whining about losing some silly item and use your head.

I won my bid on a item for a friend 100K less than its average buy price, I kept doing Vana to build up crowns, it came very short, I took the gamble and made minimal bid, 30 secs later, I won. So yeah, it takes dedication. That was the ONLY ITEM I made/won a bid war on.

@Everyone else:

CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM, JELLYEATERS! DO YOU GIVE IT!?!?!?
