Since the removal of daily mist energy, nobody crafts 2* items in massive numbers anymore... but also, consequently, it is much harder to get UVs for low level items. What is the most efficient way to get UVs nowadays? Roll with Punch? Use CE to buy orbs?

What i'm more interested in is if anyone has advice on rolling UV's on equipment. If you're going for at least two good uv's (asi and ctr mostly) is it better to roll the 20k variant over and over until you get one desired, lock, and then move on to two? Roll one three variants until you get one good one and go from there?
Now that you can lock in a UV while you roll for additional UVs, it is definitely best to use many 1-UV tickets until you get a great UV, and then use 2-UV tickets until you get a second great UV, and then use 3-UV tickets to get a third UV.
I could lay out the detailed probability theory argument (expected number of tries to get a desired UV, based on data about UV rates), but I've done that in other threads like this. Here I'll just mention a key idea: A 2-UV ticket costs far more than twice a 1-UV ticket, and a 3-UV ticket costs far more than three times a 1-UV ticket.
Two methodologies can be applied.
On is to roll a UV from punch after crafting a 2* item like brandish or a token item with multiple upgrade paths, like sealed sword. Depending on the UV, you'd upgrade to the path that is better for it like CTR for Avenger line or ASI for either (probably Gran Faust).
The other way would be to upgrade all the way to 5* first before rolling for UV's, just to get all of your alchemy uv chances out of the way, hopefully with something good, and then roll UV's on there.
