Hello I am the ham and I'm here to ask , why doesn't people play t2 lockdown anymore ?! I remember a time when there used to be like five games on at a time and now us t2 players are lucky to get one. I do not see why people don't play t2 lockdown anymore when in all reality t2 is a place where it all started because in fact t2 comes before t3 so where do thing shield canceling started ? Where do you think sword and gun weapon switching came from? If I am bold enough to say ( which I am ) t2 is the birth place of lockdown . Also there is way more skill being used in t2 than t3 . Reason why I think this is if you two three star trinkets you will never die in four hits or two. In t2 you can fix up more combos of weapons and armor while I don't even play t3 and I can guess what everyone is wearing chaos clones with final flourish , gran Faust , acheron , and same with skolver. Come on guys ease oh please play t2 and besides do you see all the drama t3 causes do you ever really see brick squad and lockdown aces fight like this ? I dare some of you t3 players to Step foot in t2 lockdown or what are you chicken ? I'm not because I'm ham xD.
Bring t2 back
Tier 2 is always fun, but the whole carry potential one person can have is severely mitigated. Many who roll high damage in Tier 3 do so because they have mastered the mechanics of 'burst my weak enemies down before they can even react'. Once you step into Tier 2, facerolling your keyboard and stomping the enemy team is drawn out and a test of dodging and skill, rather than 'my Acheron is faster'. Some people aren't satisfied by these mechanics. They want results, they want it fast. They want to see bodies hitting the floor, because they're so grimdark edgy. By asking avid players of Tier 3 to "step foot in Tier 2" or label them as cowards, isn't exactly help the cause of making Tier 2 more popular.
Tier 2 isn't the birthplace of Lockdown.
Tier 3 has and will always be more popular, simply because it's Tier 3, it's end game.
Also, 75% of the Tier 2 games I play in have at least two leavers.
Personally I like the fast pace of T3. You have one chance, maybe two.
It's just depending on what type of game you like.
Last time I did T2 I had to hit one of the duskers 12 (TWELVE) times. My weaps were unheated but I guess it's still 6 times with heated weaps?
That's just plain boring, because I know I can outplay that person but he takes more time than strictly needed.
If you'd enabled AT, you could've done it in 5 hits.
Jokes aside, why do you think that was? Trinkets, my good friend. They break what I believe is the intended balance of LD so hard.
T2 is almost pure swordsman skill,
it is hard as a bomber, because of miniature radius,
it isn't easy as gunner, because the guns are (pretty) weak, they have less ricochets,etc....
i like T2 more than T3 though, because in T2 there aren't any shock max,ASI VH,and other OP UV's
but T2 is unfair with hammer/nightblade,because 50% of armor is piercing
Tier 2 Lockdown is dead right now mainly because of the Halloween events. It'll be back shortly after them. Though I do believe that we've lost at least half of our players and matches in Tier 2 Lockdown in general... Why? Here's why:
In the past Tier 2 Lockdown in my opinion pretty much depended on regular 2-Star and 3-Star PvE (Player versus Environment) players that would often run out of Mist Energy and still want to play the game and continue to decide to switch into PvP (Player versus Player). Now as you know Mist Energy is gone and elevators in the Clockworks are completely free... This means that most of the previous 2-Star and 3-Star PvE (Player versus Environment) players can be occupied in the Clockworks and have no restraints while doing so. That and the fact that a bunch of Tier 2 Lockdown players quit the game after the updates that occurred after the first true Winterfest.
I don't mean to advertise, but Of Prominence (my guild) is working to gain back what Tier 2 Lockdown once had in the past. Matches almost 24/7, loads of players, true competition, and not nearly as much conflict as there is today. We need people and ideas for this although. We already have a plan, but unfortunately no other ones. That's why we need people and ideas to work with. We wish to serve this community.
without trinks, you get killed with elemental hood and dusker in 2hits (1. and last, without dash)
i just mean hammer is OP if you don't have trinks
Defence in T2 LD can't go below 42 and I don't think a lone Elemental Hood has more than 42 defence.
Why does T2 get leavers? Simple.
Us endgame jerks bust in with our dusker/flourish/nightblade/hammer/kilowatt and ruin all of the 2-3* people's fun. They leave because they get tired of constantly getting killed by players who have more money than them, and more ridiculous amounts of skill than them.
I Believe T2 LD is dying for this reason. Only the big leagues fight anymore, and everyone else is tired of it.
Including me, partially.
That's pretty much the same situation in T3 though..... The reason T2 gets leavers is because some players there are very new to Spiral Knights. They probably just randomly got into a Lockdown game and they have no idea where they are or what they're doing.
@Pawsmack I don't mean to advertise either (xD) , but Brick Squad has over 30 highly active T2 players. They've started to GvG themselves. We need to provide some competition for them >:D (READ : kick their butts).
@Jungle-Sword It's true that T2 is mostly swordsman. However, bombers benefit because no one is immune to statuses. For gunslingers : alchemers are weak, but kilowatts and toxic catalyzers can be very formidable.
You can try to beat us, but ya won't...... :) Feel free to try though!
On a more Sirius note, yeah but t3 sucks compared to t3 it takes more hits, and you can't just 2-hit everyone. You actually require skill. There really is no person in t2 that can mindlesly use a weapon and do well unlike t3 where you can't survive 2 hits of anything. T2 is the better tier. People don't play t2 because ya can't just spam to get high damage, or they don't have a set for it. a
I can argue that tier 3 requires skill, just on a completely different scale.
Comparing the skill curve of the tiers is like comparing apples to monkey wrenches.
Isn't the fact that you're meatier less skill-based? It lets a swarm of players mob down a skilled player because the skilled player can't DPS them down fast enough.
What's more impressive in your eyes? A Skolver bursting down a group of four with their weapon of choice? Or a Dusker maneuvering and kiting and outplaying a group of four with their weapon of choice?
It doesn't take much skill to mob on a single person, true, but who has the heavier (and more impressive) work load to do to come out on top? The Skolver or the Dusker? Additionally, it's a matter of preference.
It's not so much T2 is dying as Lockdown is dying in general. As Offense pointed out, school has started for North American and European students. A large portion of SK players are in school. Also, the holiday events are drawing people off to do PvE.
T3 almost always outnumbers T2 games. The absence of T2 games is more noticeable because there weren't as much to begin with so there are more times when no games are going on.
@Krakob:
I wouldn't even care if trinks are removed tbh.
Just don't touch my UVs and I'm a happy Feyi :-)
Good thing! UVs might create a pay to win aspect of the game but it's nothing like trinkets!
I regard them (UVs) as the 10% difference between good and great.
Totally agree on trinkets messing up the intended balance between the classes tho.
Also: removing trinkets would cripple most players.
When playing non-trinkets for the past month, it was incredibly common for me people to only kill me (2 hits = dead)
after I had hit them 3 times already and ran out of boost.
Indeed. The current metagame is adapted to having two pentas, e.g. Strikers can tank stuff as well as Guardians can.
T2 lockdown is far from dead or inactive. School started which is why there aren't 5 games going on at once (like in summer). There's usually always 1 or 2 games going on when I log on.
I actually want to see some more rivalry and fights among guilds in T2 or "chest-thumping". It's not like we have a lack of T2 players or guilds, but we haven't been able to get many GvG's going.
While I love T2, it's actually less varied than T3. Dusker + toothpick/hammer + alchemer is the cookie cutter set. There are only a few people who explore different playstyles ( like us guardian bombers :D). Also in T3; guns deal good daamge and bombs have a respectable radius.
