Am I the only one who thinks this way about costumes?

Quite literally any form of armor piece can be used a costume. Is there any concrete reasoning for costumes being simply costumes and not fully functional armors and helmets? What star-rating, stats and maybe bonuses do you suggest they would give if they were actually combat-ready equipment?

I'm highly conscious of the fact that OOO will very likely not turn costumes into armor pieces due to the nature of the items and the effort of retuning each piece and individually giving them stats and balancing them overall, so I believe this will not fit to the Suggestion board. However, should this be more appropriate to the Arsenal section, feel free to move it. Alternatively, direct me to any similar thread topic if there are any: the search engine is unnervingly shaky.

I haven't made this thread to make such an obvious conclusion.

Indeed they are, but something along the lines of a Thunderous Plate Armor that cannot help you defend better than a Spiral Culet is hilariously inconsistent. That's where my train of thought stems from.

I personally feel that the chapeaux and tabards would give some ASI bonus, considering the musketeer attire.

Gunslinger Sash is basically a dusty piece of cloth, yet it defends better than a suit of metal armor (Cobalt). Also, how does setting you on fire suddenly give you faster attack speed (Vog vs Skolver). Why does a heavy suit of metal armor give you less protection than a heavy suit of stone armor that has sat around for a while and grown mold?

Because SCIENCE

Sweet

How about a belly button piercing that adds 200 to pierce defense? And maybe a magic toenail hat to keep silkwings at bay.

Depends entirely on what kind of stone and what kind of metal we're talking about.

At Mohs scale of hardness (from 0 to 10, where 10 is the hardest):

(Metal) Aluminium: 2.75
(Metal) Iron: 4
(Metal) Steel: About 4.5
(Stone) Granite: 6
(Metal) Titanium: 6
(Stone) Quartz sandstone: 7
(Metal) Tungsten: 8

And if we're talking about the big fat bling bling suit known as Thunderous Plate Mail: Gold lies at 2.5 to 3. Your fingernail lies at 2.5.
However, seeing as The Cradle and everything on it is completely fictional, the gold-looking metal on Thunderous may not be gold at all.

Thunderous plate mail could very well be made out of tin foil painted gold.
