Antigua charge tweak?

A considerable number of people find the charge of the Antigua line guns to be rather lackluster. What I propose is being able to strafe (still looking in the same direction when you released the charge, mind you) while firing the clip of the charge attack, THEN stopping to fire off the birdy bird.

Some slight mobility may offer gunners more opportunities to seize use of the Antigua line's charge shot, as not only is mobility a gunner's best tool, the Blitz needle takes the cake for 'overpowered charge attack' to warrant being rooted in place and vulnerable for the duration.

on the idea that the charge needs to be changed. although i always wanted the charge to do just the eagle, not the 6 shots before. that way you still get the best part of the charge, and add speed to it.

Totally agree. Antigua line charge lasts longer than Needler's, but lacks wide area of attack and raw stopping power of the latter. Besides, the Antigua guns seem to have emphasis on mobility.

I thought about that too. I'd even be okay if they just stripped six shots without buffing the bird. Right now antigua charge is waaaay too situational: you need to be facing one enemy or a tight cluster of them, without ranged attacks, and pray to the snipes it won't get knocked out the fire line, or it'll just walk towards you while you're wasting your shots.

Doesn't matter. It's still way too niche. Other weapons far surpass it where the charge attack is concerned, not only in safety, but reliability.

Nope.

I'd suggest make the charge JUSt the birdy bird, I don't need the regular shots. Spamming 'the word' is all I need.

Antiguas are pretty awesome even without charges

If you don't like the charge, don't use it. I use my charge all over the place. It especially excels in turret killing, but is also useful to push back monsters too close to you. It might backfire sometimes (especialy when zombies do their leap, then they're for the first imune to knockback then and for the second seem to land next to you, so the bird misses it) but I can often live with that. All guns aren't made to have their charge attacks used frequently.

This is the way it is meant to be. In SK, there are two types of weapon, one with epic charge attack/weak normal attack and one with crap charge attack/weak normal attack. Antigua line are designed to be the ones with good normal attack, where it can dish out epic damage without charging, where as umbra drive have bad normal attack (2 shots) but good richote charge attack.

Pulsars have currently the worst charge attack in the game, even magnus's charge shot doesn't wanna hangout with that weak piece of crap. This is balanced out by the pulsar's epic normal attack. Now imagine if the antigua's charge attack is buffed, oh boy, someone here seriuosly wanna make my beloved pulsars obsolete. This is just tempering the balance of guns and I cannot allow this so -1

ps. there is place where you should use the antigua's charge attack, it is called, a chokehold.

Two things, in reply:

1. You're assuming you have to compare it to other charge attacks, not just attacks.

2. You're assuming that because it's better than certain attacks, it's balanced and viable. Big Angry Bomb is arguably better than Deadly Shard Bomb, and yet...

This is a thread on changing the Argent Peacemaker. It's not arguable that there are even worse options, but that doesn't invalidate it still being bad.

Two replies to your replies

1. Aint it the charge attack we're talking about?

2. Don't compare guns and bombs! The Argent peacemaker can fire six shots in four seconds, has the fastest reload time and the fastest flying bullets (maybe after Magnus) but it's charge attack fires six shots in two seconds and after that, the gun fires a three tiles wide and has great knockback and pierces. It basically lets the monsters escape with those six shots. That's a good normal attack and a less good charge attack. The big angry bomb gets one charged attack. It haven't got any normal attacks. Just a charge. So if the charge is awful their only attack is aweful. If the charge is aweful on a gun there's always their normal attacks. Charge attacks is not always for spewing out everywhere. And the carbine shows that if you would remove the six bullets in the charge BAM! You've got a ranged brandish!
