What do you think the qualities of a good gunner are? And if you have seen one that inspired you to take up guns feel free to tell about it.
good gunners.
Polaris is too situational and VERY ANNOYING if abused but still a good gunner weapon.
A good gunner is the one who carry alchelmers cuz broken ricochet mechanic... nah just kidding the good one always carry a tons of guns for every situation right ?
"They don't have Polaris equipped."
Only hipsters don't carry pulsar line guns, a good gunner will have one ready always for shutting down mobs, then again just carrying one doesn't make you good if you just spam it on everything.
You can also easily discern between a good and a bad gunner watching their alchemer usage: if they spam gun switching, you know they are terrible players that need to bump up their dps with with it - if the fire rate was uncapped and depended on how fast you click you can be sure they would instantly macro turbo for that. They are simply bad players needing to retort to exploits.
-always there with a volley of blitz needle when a swordie is surrounded by overitmers and greavers.
-alway pushing the mecha knights back with the trollaris while the swordies charge
-never blame others for your own incompetence (applies to all classes)
-always there to snipe the turrets (polaris+ puppy room in FSC=profit)
-provide bombers with firecover while they lay down a bomb.
-know when to stop using guns and fight like a man (wolver dens)
No using guns in wolver dens.. NO GUNZ YOU NO GUNZ AGAINST WEAK CRITTERS ?
I think I've seen only one person use the Polaris in a non-party threatning way....and the worst part is they weren't gunslingers.
As a person who's been doing this for almost a year and a half, I can say
-The ones that are good are the ones that actually know or have a feel for what gun is needed for what situation. Someone who basically has guns for any situation if you want to call it that.
If they use alchemers, pretty much the good and bad line of skill is if the person can sweet spot one hit knockout medium/big targets. Alchemer switching is OK as long as the person knows about the bullets always going left. A good gunslinger can aim shots around the corner or make one shot bounce off 2-3 enemies.
And being able to live. No good gunslinger should be dying more quickly than any other whatever class unless they're running into a wall with the d/c icon above them.
You can recognize a good gunslinger because they'll be so good at it that things like Alchemers and Polaris bore them. They'll be tearing up the clockworks with Catalyzer, Iron Slug and Pepperbox.
I always put on my Seeurs mask in FSC or when the situation calls for elemental and fire/shock protection
@Zeddy

Couldn't have said it better.
In my older days, I used to rock cradle with a Hail Driver and Shadowtech combo (not switch shooting though, I didn't know about that)
But that got boring. Apart from the use of richochets to kill Trojans that were facing me, there wasn't that much you could do with them.
Keeping enemies at bay with Pepperbox sprays, interrupting turrets with well placed Iron Slug shots (or shooting howlitzers out of the sky with them) and trying to work that blasted Catalyzer are far more challenging and fun.
This is a shame or weird though, but there's a combo I use that I never seen anyone use. Although the downside is a slight DPS decrease, it makes fighting enemy's much safer. Basically, you use a three hit sword line (such as Brandish) and a alchemer (such as Hail Driver) to do this. What you do is, you hit the target twice, back off, as at that point it's about to attack, (Such as a Zombie) switch to your alchemer and shoot them once. Rinse and repeat.
I remember the first true gunslinger I ever actually had a chance to talk to was the famous Happyapathy. You can really recognize the good gunslingers because they'll have practically zero swords or bombs. But that's just the extreme.
To me a good gunslinger simply knows what he's doing. He can be using a Supernova or a Polaris, but a good gunslinger knows how to use them effectively without being disruptive. They can be alchemer switching like mad, they can be spamming a Blitz Needle to perfection, they can be a master crack shot with a Valiance in Lockdown, w/e gun they prefer to use they simply know how to use it well.
@Chainguy
I do that. Except with the full combo of a Sudaruska to push the enemy way out of range, then I pop their last bit of health with an Iron Slug. Maybe you spend too long around pures, that you never get to see any hybrids?
Blazebrand x Prismatech MkII
I learned to use that combo while trying to do GitM. I don't care about the "decreased DPS", I take my time to ensure my survivability.
It represents that the Knight using it is patient, calculating, and teamwork focused.
Have you ever been in a 4-Man Catalyzer party? It's pretty damn fun and brings you a little closer to you teammates.
/throws catalyzer on the ground
I frequently get raged in LD because I usually shock people on the first shot.
However there's a trick to this.
Just contact me if you want to learn more, IGN Scirio.
Edit, mail me in SK.
is the guild of gunners. I know one of their officers, Mynameis-Seven, and they're attempting to teach me the ways of the guns.
Message Seven about random gun questions and they'll be happy to answer them about technique and such.
In this game gunners deal less damage than swordsman in exchange for a safe range to deal damage.
Imo, someone that is "good" will acknowledge this exchange and forsake guns to play melee. However, even good players have preferences and sometimes those preferences overshadow the desire to be efficient...
My point is that there isn't such a thing as a good gunner because a good player would know how much they are limited by using guns. It's quite an oximoron...
I thought all you needed was a good connection, valiance, antigua line, shadowsun/black kat/chaos set and autotarget to be a "good gunner"
/sarcasm for people who don't get it
They don't have Polaris equipped.
