anything to fill the slots before the Prize Wheel

I organize my pickups so that pills are in the first slot and remedies are in the second slot. I don't care what is in the third and fourth slots, as long as they are both full, so that I am certain of getting crowns from the prize wheel. (There are a few exceptions, such as Royal Jelly, where I really do value offensive pickups. But not many.)

Do not underestimate the power of barriers. They're fantastic for cleaning up enemies with forward facing shields, and they're great for AE packs.

Additionally, do not underestimate the power of the god-like combination of Recon Flare + Artillery Strike. Recon Flare increases damage by several hundred per hit, and Artillery Strike does a large number of hits with wide radius. In a solo elite of Compound 42, that combo almost completely wiped out the last wave of enemies during the final arena.

I feel a blast from the past!

I created a thread like this right before the new pickups were added. I'll edit this post if I can find it again when I'm on my desktop.

EDIT: Here's the thread.

I organize my pickups with health capsules in the first slot, remedy capsules in the second slot, a support item in the third slot (with a bias for poison vials) and a damage item in my fourth slot (with a preference for shock vials). If I encounter one of the new items, I'll often replace my damage slot with it.
The likelihood of me actually using anything other than health capsules is rather low.

I, like bopp, keep my pills in the first and second slots. The other two slots will have anything, but if I find things higher on my priority list I will switch them out. My priority list is quite simple, Flares>Strikes>Barriers>Poison vials>Vials. The reason why poison vials come before the others is that they work so well with barriers. Until poison barriers make a appearance in T3 my list wont change much.

I'm devious.

I enjoy using a freeze vial to keep enemies still while my Drakon blasts a fireball. pretty effective.

Khamsin, thanks for the tips. I had no idea that the Ranger Signal Flare gave a damage bonus. Too bad I find so few of them. Cheers.

Anything works well with an Electron Vortex. Recons and shock items are just icing on the cake.

I had no idea that the Ranger Signal Flare gave a damage bonus.

To be more exact, it applies Death Mark, removing their defense. If you're using effective weapon types, it normally doesn't add much damage, but since the artillery strike is neutral typed, it gains a large boost to its damage by being able to ignore defense. Since it does so many hits, it gets a huge bonus out of being able to ignore defense.

Recon Flare -> Vanaduke,

Recon Flare -> Vanaduke, apply blitz

profit.

I usually use freeze vials to control the death of the last zombie before trojans spawn in FSC, to give ample setup time while solo or duo.

I go: 1. Remedy 2. Health 3.

I go:
1. Remedy
2. Health
3. Barrier
4. Barrier

and pop barriers with Drakon's Scorching Barrier.
It turns you into a buzz saw!
