Mercurial Demo Set, is it worth it?

I've recently found myself with a choice between the five star demo suits, and I've been looking at the mercurial. But I must ask, is it worth it? It's got a CTR of medium and a movement speed of medium, which can be pretty nice when using certain bombs like the Irontech. But, that MSI increase is barely noticeable when not charging, and the other armor gives significant dmg or CTR bonuses. So I must ask for your input on this.

Merc Demo is the endgame for bombers. it works like this: You can get CTR max, Damage max easily using Mad Demo (now Chaos) + sprite perk for bomb damage.

Wow, that's it, you already maxed everything. Aren't you proud of yourself? Where do you go from now?

You go to Merc Demo, and strive for MSI VH in addition to double max for your bombs. Here's how that works:

Mercurial Demo set + 2x trinkets for damage + Sprite MSI perk + CTR VH UV for all of your bombs = Max Damage, Max CTR, VH MSI.

It feels great! MSI feels absolutely wonderful when you're at VH. You'll know when you feel it. It's very hard to go back afterwards. Anyways, the helmet can be replaced for Black Kat cowl, allowing you to switch out one of the damage trinkets for a CTR trinket, and you can get away with only having medium UVs on your bombs instead.

So is Merc Demo worth it? Maybe not for you at the moment. You'll want it eventually, though.

mercuiral demo gear analysis

I don't have mercuiral demo gear of my own so I will just use my limited Wiki knowlege to analyse this. I am not a weapon specialist like Zeddy but I can tell you right now that the bomb dmg med on the mercuiral demo suit is near worthless. It only gives you about 20 points more damage at stratum 6, if you want a confirmation on this go to youtube and type 'Chawkthree', he will show you the rest.

The movement speed increase on the merc demo suit is also negatable, it will only have about an ONE seconds speed difference from a set of armor that has not MSI on it. The only time when the MSI can be felt is when you combine your MSI of med on the merc demo with a sprite perk call swift steps. You will only get this perk after the sprite is about lvl 50+. And also by having this perk, you sacrifised bonus health as well as other perks.

If you really wanna get into bombing, or lacking some fire resist in your arsenal. I recommend the volcanic demo suit. It gives a charge time reduction of VH and it is a healthy start to a novice bomber. And since that radiant fire crystals are now extinct, CTR are more important than ever(you get a CTR med upon heating a bomb to lvl 10, this is not achievable with the current abundance of radiants). And if the shock resistant on the merc demo suit is what you are gunning for, there are better alternatives out there, like divine veil and grey owlite, all provide great shock resist.

Ps. shadow lair gears =/= OPYOLOSWAG gears, they just have slightly different stats.

The real questions are; Can

The real questions are;
Can you afford it? (SL Key+Suit+Orbs pre SL, Most Important!)
Can you get the time to do it? (SL)
Do you have a good team? (SL Difficulty)
So you have about 40 Sparks of Life?
Do you have elemental/fire resistant gear (preferably *5) and a good piercing weapon(s)?
Have you trained to do RT many time enough to do Red Roarmulus Twins?
Are you ready to face The Swarm?
Are you prepared to rage quit when you run out of sparks and no one revives you?
Do you have SKILL?

If so then go for it!!!

as an old timer....

My own experience, spending about 5 - 6 spark of life in either normal or elite difficulty, I have no idea why. (I spent 10 sparks on Heart of Ice mission, 20+ spark on Shroud of Apocrea first time) Each time I did SL, I did it with copy paste chaos set + swiftstrike buckler. Piercing weapon for what? Those are gremlins + slimes + robots.
Lastly, you don't need to do Red Roarmulus Twin at all, just buy the required mats, and craft it at the end. Your team can pick whichever Shadow Lair. That or just buy it from another players if you are running out of options.

MSI is much more appealing when your bombs have walking speed penalty, btw.
