No Draycos, I don't want to play the other side as bad as you think, And yes, I do want a kat hat. But I don't have to whine about it, I will sit here and wait until the event is back and grind like a boss. And also, is two event-tied levels mean that much to you? There are hundreds of different clockwork level out there that you can play while the kats and apocreans are gone. And like the thread I posted at Zeddy, people should really start apprecaite all the good gears OOO has already offered us other that complain about the few that they shelved for a previlidged(hard working) few.

Within reason, obviously. If you could find a way to tie an event into the gunner update that made sense and didn't screw up the update, sure, go ahead. I can't think of any way to do that, though. And discounting all gunner gear would probably break the game significantly for a few weeks.

As a way to integrate old events though - you could have different versions of the same gear; functionally identical, but it looks slightly different. So someone who was there for the event can still say "ha, I was there", but other players can stuff get access to the content.

"Okay. Acheron will also outperform Sentenza, what's your point?"-Zeddy
-The point is, why make a piercing antigua when FF/BTS/Cala gets the job done?

"The reason why I made that 'everyone only use levi blade and the game is utterly fair' thing."
But what your argument actually shows is that the game becomes more fun when it has more variety. Imagine if the game was exactly as you described and you could only get different, non-normal weapons through events.-Zeddy

Ugh, yeah, so if everyone can have a BKC and Obsidian gears, doesn't that essentially made the game have less variety since everyone is using them, skipping everything else?

ps. Screw google and its stupid goodle+ on u tube, DEATH TO GOODLE+!!!

I'm a damned liar, I'll post some more anyway.

"Do they really matter to you?" Yes. Because they might keep doing these silly event-bound content updates, that's why. And because I like the content.

I'd also like to call on the ideas of "mechanics". Graviton Vortex is really unwieldy, but Obsidian Crusher deals strong Poison so it helps ease the chaos that is knockback. Sentenza is generally inferior to an Umbra Driver, but Carbine, that's arguable. Shadow defense bomber hats. Etc, etc.

You're trying to argue that "there is one clear best set, so nothing else is worth it." If you really believe that, can't you also see that giving some of that gear to specific individuals based on circumstance is ridiculous? Don't pull the "hard-working players should get rewarded" card on me, because that wouldn't change one bit if the event content was unchanged in all but availability. In addition, having multiple options but one best set is much better than having one option only. While there are balance issues with SK, there are at least some items that are "side-grade" or just a little below the power of the "best" item.

"Why make a piercing Antigua when another piercing weapon gets the job done?"
You're being hypocritical; didn't you just get done saying a no-variety SK wouldn't get past beta? "Variety is good! But screw that item, because it won't compete with these items." Like I keep saying. Mechanics. You could use the slow, difficult-to-safely-use Callahan, or you could pick up a piercing Antigua and have more/safer shots.

:/

sry about the late post my friend, went out for family dinner.

'You're being hypocritical about piercing antogua' -Drayco
well, I can't make a clear judgement if the gun isn't released yet, but if it is, and it is like anything you said, wouldn't that make blitz and callahan obsolete? People would now go straight for the antigua, blitz and callahan will be a thing of the past (blitz is still the FSC essential, but callahan is dead for sure). And by making two weapons obsolete, doesn't that remove variety from the game? And as for the shadow/fire/freeze polarises, oh, boy, OOO really screwed it up this time, once those bad boys are out, I don't think any weapon in this game is even worth a damn.

As for the rest of your points, I do agree... you can rest in peace now.

ps. After all this argueing, no reply from a GM or Game designer, don't you think all this was abit unneccessary?

Well...

To be honest, I joined spiral knights just last year during the Dark Havest.
I didn't know much until I started getting used to the game and I realized that I missed many cool events / content.
They should just bring back the past stuff so people can look forword to seeing the event another time.

"People would now go straight for the (piercing) antigua"
One problem: Both families that are weak to piercing happen to enjoy dodging guns, making swords and bombs more preferrable in the first place.

Overall, I still don't see the problem. None of the event gear is seriously "game-changing" (OCH is not an event). The Apocrea adds some poison to insisting weapons, with a new model and skin. Poison isn't one of the strongest statuses. The only truly notable BK cowl is the BKC, which is comprable to Chaos. It has damage bonus (albeit a tad more), another buff (MSI Low instead of UNIVERSAL CTR MED), and some crippling status debuffs, though it has good freeze defense. They are both generally similar, with both being attack > defense type gear pieces. So really, the gear isn't exactly better. You can do just fine without it. If people want it, they can wait a year. I was too lazy at both BK events and have interest in a BKC, just for looks, but I don't really care that much about it, and certainly don't count the days down and whine.

"Poison isn't one of the strongest statuses."

A lot of people underestimate this Status because it doesn't deal damage. Wearing a Mad Bomber Set is risky as it is, but not being able to heal when you need to can mess you up pretty bad. Also, the damage debuff makes it hard to hit the enemies back, especially if they have a Healer.

Against monsters, it certainly helps if you're playing in a Party. Keep Poisoning them with a Venom Veiler & your Teammates will feel like they're being buffed.

Anyone who thinks poison isn't a strong status needs to be thrown into a T3 elite C42 party with chaos and no shield.

May I take your order, sir?

Despite all the backlash, I think this is a good idea.
But I think there should be some...*ahem*...interesting tweaks.

1.
In any clockwork tunnels map, you have a 6.66% chance of getting dragged down to the Obsidian Nexus when you step on a party button. This allows you to buy the Apocrean materials and do a guaranteed row of four Grasping Plateaus.

2.
The spawnrate of Black Kats during the event it's tied to is 66.6%, and the droprate of the Book of Dark Rituals increases to 6.66%.

3.
The Grasping Plateau is added to the Random listing so you can experience it firsthand.

4.
In any Grasping Plateau found while the event is inactive, two Apocrean Harvesters will spawn, and their speed is drastically increased. I hope you liked Mercurial and Maskeraith.

5.
All Freed Souls slain when the event is inactive have a 50% chance to drop one apocrean sigil, 5% chance to drop two apocrean sigils, and a 45% chance to drop nothing.

6.
All Black Kats slain when the event is inactive have a 1.66% chance to drop a Book of Dark Rituals (basically, increasing the droprate slightly)

7.
The chance for a Grinchlin Treasure Box to appear in place of any treasure box is 12.25%.
Not sure what other tweaks to add.

I don't see any backlash that hasn't been reasoned with already.

Black Kats are pretty powerful, so I'm not so sure 66.6% is... smart...

I'm not sure why the content should be easier during event time. This is the perfect time for me to mention again that the current difficulty settings are stupid and should actually mean something other than stat inflation.

I'm concerned about putting Apocrea level chains in clockworks runs. Seems to me like they should just be tied to the "random" depths, perhaps adding a third level-specific option to the elevators in Grasping Plateaus. That way, people could leave to Haven, keep going on their normal run, or keep running Apocrea.

Grinchlin Assault might reappear in "random" depths as well, perhaps only on Elite.

Summary

Summary
some people want their event items to have some availability all year round, maybe with lower drop chance and encounter chance for the items and floors that have them so even if they have to grind for a month they can still obtain these nice items in the middle of spring because they are great to use in game

other people say no and would rather say they don't want to obtain them and are more than happy to wait a year to grind a bit more for them when the event is on

My Opinion:
I would like to get event items even when the events not on, i had a lot going on when Apocrea was on and regret missing it
