I've heard a lot of people on chat saying Noob Noob Noob...
I have an idea.
Make a new mission (or new enemies) based on noobs.
Noobs were once strong knights later possessed by evil spirits.
They should appear in knights helm and armor (the proto costumes)
First they will appear with proto weapons then rage and switch to SUPER STRONG 5* faust like dark weapons.
The purpose is to make the word noob a good and strong word.
PS. They Must appear on at least 2 of 4 levels.
Their appearance is marked by a dark haze.
The Social Evil- The NOOB Word...
Hating on the noobs? The be good at this game, so that no matter how crap your teammates are, you can still win.
So basically like the fake heart boxes in danger missions, we really need more of those.
His clearly trying to get attention on a serious issue and you're laughing at him WTF dude.
The foul attitude towards new players is a problem on a personal level. You can't fix how certain people act simply by adding game-side lore.
New players need to learn how to fend for themselves emotionally, no-one will go through life without being insulted.
As regular players, we can correct other people when they use the N word by saying "hey, you were a new player once, too", and anyone can say "Not everyone plays to win, people do play to have fun y'know, they don't have to be good at the game to do that.".
the internet in general needs to learn what is the difference between a newbie and a noob.
a newbie is a player that has just started the game, and that is learning from it on what to do.
a noob is someone who wants the game (whatever game it is) to be like he/she wants and refuses to learn from the game, thus pursuing error and ragequitting and/or whining here.
at least that is what I've learned when I was new to the internet.
Actually, they both generally are the same thing. One is the "correct" way to refer to them in internet lingo (synonym of Amateur) while the latter is a more derogatory word. Just like how "homo" (and its many associated synonyms which I am not permitted to list here) is often used as a more derogatory word for "homosexual" even though they mean the exact same thing.
I think I'll stick with my definition cause I find them more fitting and straight up better. please don't try to change my mind, it's my opinion and I won't try to change yours. ty.
hey, I find great that we can argue and be pacific at the same time on a forum. yay for internet magic!
There are MANY ways to express noob. Noobs can be referred to as those who keep doing mistakes or those who are underpowered. Or Ever Beggars.
People who use this word usually DONT KNOW that they were one before they became pros or vanguards. They too must have asked for something for achieving their current state.(So was with me)
Why not take examples of LD pros, or ever some popular on-vids player. Had they started the game as Pros? No. Had they got everything they wanted before? NO.
And i totally agree with Thunder.
The players referred to as noobs often want everything they crave for.
If they beg, just do nothing but ignore them.
I had a friend who was of the type :I Was noob, Then You are noob. He always used others as resources for getting something... I had broken friendship with him at first offensive chat with my 'Knight' rank friend. Then i met him after 2 months and explained him that he wasnt right. He immediately understood then.
But... This way is not possible with all players (probably a 100,000-1,000,000 players) is it?
For those who think they are underpowered, go over these and SEE

They are of about half an hour each so think before going on them or skip to the end.

The issue with trying to take away the bad idea behind a word is then just another word takes its place.
So lets say we make "noob" not a word meant to me, a bad player. Then the community will find a new one, like "badie".
We all start saying "badies" instead of "noob". Someone comes complaining about all the "badie" hate.
Now we have stopped using "badie' but the community will still find a word to call players who are just awful, awful.
So they start using the term "faller" as they keep falling to the ground and asking for sparks.
We start using "fallers" instead of "badies". Someone comes complaining about all the "faller" hate.
This will always happen. A community no mater how pure, how kind, how caring, will start to use a word to describe those within the community who are over all worse then the others.
If the noob word is not removed but Just modified into dangerous. No one would feel bad about it or make any new word. If people have some kind of rage on them, they can chuck it out on my suggested New Monster Type.
You can't change the perception or definition of a word. Especially a widely known and used one such as noob.
People would still know what it means and know that it is derogatory.
Even if they think it is derogatory after introducing this, no one would just try for the word 'NOOB'. People Can't just stop using it even on the player they are annoyed with...
No one likes to be called something derogatory, not even those reading this.
Newbie is a better and polish word. Neither the speaker, nor the declared one would be offended.
This could reduce the effect AT LEAST!
No, it wouldn't. Again, it would just be like trying to replace the word noob with noobie. People will start to think the word noobie means "Someone who is really bad at this game" and get just as offended as when the word that meant that was noob. You can't work out of this. There will always be words people find offensive.
In my opinion noob is the most antisocial word and it is used by every social gaming community.
If this word can be distorted by a game character, nothing more is needed. Moreover, the word noobie sounds more of a cartoon thingy. The declared one would leave you by taking it as a compliment. Who doesn't like FUNNY?
If you don't like this idea suggest us a way.
dracer, doing it in here will do almost nothing, cause there will be gamers that play multiple games and will continue to use noob as an insult. until 50% of the internet thinks that noob is an insult, noob will be an insult. you can't just take it away from one game and expect the sociality to change.
Picture this. You want to protest a law. You live in a small country village. You choose to rally your village and all visitors against the law. Congratz. Ain't going to do anything. Just not enough people against something. That's pretty much this in a nutshell. Walnuts?
You said "If this word can be distorted by a game character..." That's basically trying to change the accepted definition of a very widely used word. That just doesn't work. That takes 10-100's of years to happen, and noob likely won't last that long - it's a fad. If you hate it that much, wait a few years and it probably won't even exist (in large quantities). Take something like "Jeepers." When was the last time that word was used in any decent number?
---
If you hate the word so much, push for something realistic, like it being added to the censor list (Which is ridiculous anyway).
Do you even know what noob means?
