Allow moving while shoting.
Reasons:

  • devilites
  • alpha wolvers
  • greavers

Honestly, when you make a gun thats deals piercing damage, i.e. something that is effective against basically almost all of the most dangerous mobs from the faster-than-wind tier you can't really block the users movement. Devilites effectively can easily dodge your shot, teleporting wolvers must be a nightmare which i don't want to dream of never and greavers just laugh flying after you with sonic speed. I cannot understand this design. I'd understand for alchemers to enforce blocking movement since we all know that things that are weak against elemental damage are seriously slow or don't move at all - hello Lumbers, hello Zombies, hello Retrodes, hello Scuttlebots (LOL) and finally, hello Gun Puppies (thank you for always standing still).

Oh yeah, i haven't tried out the Needle Shot but i can imagine that it just totally obliterates Magnus just by looking at the wiki page.

I'd say the easiest fix would be to limit or stop him all together from posting on the forums :)

Magnus Handling in a nutshell

Magnus is not a gun designed for kiting and backpedaling, that's for sure. But not every handgun has to be.
One has to employ different tactics with Magnus. Here's what I do in given cases:

Devilites effectively can easily dodge your shot
Actually devilites can't dodge Magnus bullets so easily. Nobody can. Using Magnus against devilites is easier when you take advantage of shield. My strategy:
1. Shield up
2. Wait for incoming pitchfork/snowball/other stuff
3. Shield down
4. Two shots
5. Reload and:
- if devilite is knocked down and helpless go to #4.
- if somehow devilite seems counterstriking go to #1.

teleporting wolvers must be a nightmare which i don't want to dream of
I don't find them that hard (at least when going solo). My strategy:
1. One shot and
- If wolver is knocked down and helpless go to #1.
- If wolver teleports itself go to #2.
2. Run backward to the spot where wolver stood before teleporting and as soon as it appers go to #1.

greavers just laugh flying after you with sonic speed
Ok, these are difficult but they can be nasty on T3 no matter what weapon are you using. I don't think I'd decide to kite them even if Magnus were kiting handgun. The most importent is to knock it down in a mid flight to break its haze-creating attack. I've been lucky to get Mega Magnus with high bonus damage vs fiends on my first crafting try and now most T3 greavers are dead after 2-3 shots.

European players have serious

European players have serious issues with shields. And with Magnus its even worse because the animation blocks you out from shielding for relatively long after the shot, at least long enough to not be able to get the shield up no matter the reflexes. The server doesn't lag compensate and thus the result. Devilites throwing indication is also a good indicator that you are about to lose health if you don't get up your shield in a timeframe of 200-400 milisecond as it appears.

OK 1. THE Magnus would be

OK

1. THE Magnus would be more appropriate since I bet every single thread reader thinks this has to do with Magnus until they actually read the thread
2. I thought 1.
3. *exits thread*

I'm with Paska

I think Magnus has already been taken care of in the last big update. ^^

Okay so after playing around

Okay so after playing around with it a little more i managed to boost my efficiency by just turning on auto-aim by default in options and bound it to shift and just that made devilites/wolvers stop dodging my shots when they have the lock-on on them. Now i can clean out those damn devilites and snipe down menderers and wings when i want to, yay. Juggling bombers is also cool. Also, i thought the power would be comparable to the status alchemers but it seems like its a lot higher (in case of neutral damage).
