Lately I've seen a lot of /laugh after killing an opposing player. That's just poor sportsmanship. I can understand if the guy has been tooting his own horn the entire time, but really, it's poor sportsmanship.

Instead, try a different emote:

1: Copy /thanks with Ctrl-C.

2: When someone saves your butt or helps you take down an opponent, or when a Guardian heals you for a significant amount of HP, paste /thanks into the chat by pressing Enter and then Ctrl-V. (Finish any fighting (or sneaking) first; don't /thanks in the middle of a battle.)

3: Repeat.

Come to think of it, you could do this in the Clockworks, too. Someone just shield bump a Lumber away from you, or take a bullet (or suitcase) headed for you on their shield? Kill it off and /thanks.

How does this help? When people get recognized for helping out, it makes them feel good. As an added bonus, this increases their morale and makes them fight better!

I'd love to see this but it's LD we're talking about. It could be nice in PvE too but I mostly play with people who know how to play properly and thus, we just help each other out because that's how you play this game.

Doc, you're slowly turning into The Box.

Save yourself while you can.

Aside from joking, it's a good idea.

Laughing after you kill someone isn't always meant in a bad way. I usually laugh whenever I kill one of my friends in a stupid way. I do admit that I get a warm and fuzzy feeling every time someone thanks me for healing them. Laughing after killing someone is pretty mild compared to some of the stuff that goes on in LD. Sadly, it's become a requirement that you must have a thick skin if you want to still have fun.

On the topic of encouraging your team; don't be like "oh teams are stacked against me, we're going to lose. You pretty much just told your team that you think they suck. Encourage your team to keep trying and give them some basic tips to help them stay alive longer. Remember that you were once a noob too!

Why do all my posts turn out really long.....

It's a Concrete Jungle out there

@Offense: Guess you're right. I'm not talking about the "/lol when the occasion is derpy enough to demand it". No, I'm talking about those guys that /lol after every single kill. It's grating. (And usually accompanied with some of the worse stuff like "uninstall".)

And Drag, what box are you referring to? Blueflood? Goofio? Or Luguiru?

Lockdown needs more cool

Lockdown needs more cool people like the OP. I played LD for the first time in a new set, and aucked majorly. Suprisingly, no one in the game was really bad. They just happily derped around, running into freeze pads and whatnot.

Aso, fighting gunner vs gunner totally beats sword vs sword

ooh

There's a /ty? I thought the shortest was /thx... thanks Blue ^^

@OP: Way ahead of you.

@Offense: Sometimes the truth hurts. Less if you know like 75% of the people in the game, and they all know it too.

Well...

In a lot of games I wink at the person who i kill or the person who kills me.

/salute

When I die after a good fight, I'll give kudos. Played with OP recently, had a great time. I've been fortunate, in the past couple of months, I've found the in game LD community has become a lot better. People are chatty, have fun, and it makes the game fun. I get my butt kicked, sure, but I don't mind at all. My greatest pleasure is a Callahan charge attack kill. I strongly suggest that everyone get a strange/lesser used weapon, and make it your goal to master it. I enjoy the /salute and the "dat callahan" after a succesfull kill.

TL;DR Be a pleasant person in LD, and remember it's a game. Most players will respond in kind. If you rage, and hate, chances are that's what will come back to you.

The goal is to have fun after all

Giving thanks to those that help you and complimenting players that give you a challenge are simple ways to make the game a better place for everyone. It's more fun when everyone feels good.

And Perronius, try making a loadout with weapons you've never seen used in lockdown and make it your entire set. At that point, being killed by a damage ultra bonus feels like normal, but when you get a kill with your DVS while wearing valkyrie armor, well, it just feels good.

@fangel

I have a sudaruska/valiance/nitronome loadout. Nitronome kills are great.
