I want to ask, what is there to do after achieving the best suitable equips? This bothers me a bit but maybe i don't know much.

Play different gear, not necessarily 5*
Try different equipment, beginning with the low star stuff, and play again with it starting in tier 1.
I'm running tier 3 with Heavy Demo, Dread Venom, Ash, etc., but I've barely even tried a crystal bomb or voltech alchemer, so sometimes I equip those, put on 2* armor, and start playing tier 1 again for a change of pace and a new, different challenge.
It's amazing how differently you have to play when carrying a flourish and shadowtech alchemer instead of a master blast bomb and vile striker. It makes the game new again in a lot of ways to change gear.
There is also a new boss coming soon, and PvP, so you won't have to wait long for new stuff to do.

oh, since they're releasing a whole new boss level for t1, make urself a one star set for the challenge
some of the 1* gears actually look pretty nice, and since all higher star gears do reduced damage in t1, might as well give urself a chance to enjoy being a newb again with 1* gears.

PvP will hopefully be implemented soon, creating a whole metagame. You will need more then just a Vog set to be able to win because everybody has a Vog set and the weakness is rather obvious. Start creating armor and/or weapons for PvP.

Backwards depends on your frame of reference.
I think the problem is the perception of playing tier 1 as "going backwards." It's only going backwards if you use the same line of gear, with the same bonuses. I wasn't kidding when I said it was a very different experience playing with radically different weapons and gear bonuses than what I typically use. It's a new challenge, even on old levels. Plus, there are new levels coming with the new boss, so I'm excited for that.

Try new weapon types! It really feels like a different game. Go gunslinging or bombing! If you're not comfortable with it, you can practice in Tier 1 and really get a feel for how the other weapons work.

Best of luck
I've just finished my standard set up, plus a couple extras for fun. So now I'm trying to learn every recipe in the game. And beat Vannaduke. My group has failed twice so far, but we'll get there. Mostly, though, I'm not doing much other than running for money to buy recipes, and helping my friends who are still working on getting better gear. Hence the recent patch to make the mid game last longer, and the current work on providing something for end-game play (PvP)

You can't expect too much to
You can't expect too much to do at a certain point in a game that's still in Open Beta, there's still a ton of room for growth. Heck, there could even be 6*+ in the future for all we know, with Tiers 4+.
There's also the fact that this game is from made scratch, it doesn't have any other versions of it that already have content we could just translate and have implemented every few weeks/months. When playing games that are completely being released right off the line, or are in beta phases, or have just barely officially released, you have to give them time to actually get a decent amount of content.
Currently, you just work on other equipment, either for alternative sets, or just ones for fashion, and build up lots of Crown and Crystal Energy for when you might actually need it when more things are released.

Oh right. New content. The next expansion will be a boss stage for Tier 1. I might toss some 2* gear onto a new character and go at 'im. Wonder if it'll have its own set of token loot. Maybe there'll even be a new recipe line based on them. Or even token-based costume-only items.
