Question to the devs: the core

Is the core going to be as "heavy" as the current incomplete core level? I mean, that little platform on depth 29 brings my FPS count down to the bottom, even more than Firestorm Citadel (and that is saying a lot) and it's just a square with a bunch of TVs and some fog. Since the core is going to be the major content update on this game, I really would like to be able to play it! So that's about it, I hope someone can give a little information and thanks for reading.

I have the same FPS problem at the Core. The only other place I've experienced that kind of crawl is during the rescue camp mission when descending into the area with the zombies, there is a lot of fog there too. I don't lag at all in FSC due to the graphics though.

lol you actually believe the devs will answer this?
that would totally kill the element of surprise if they did.

Also, patience my friend. Things will fall in place.

I think the issue is that the Core, visible from Depth 29, is so detailed and also so far in the distance that it hogs resources more than the simpler stages before it.

It's unlikely that the resource-hogging will be still in effect when approaching or inside the Core-- since then they can get away rendering only part of the shell, and- once inside- not needing to render the shell at all.

LOL i wish

I expect the Core to be the "second half" of the game, complete with 3 more levels, and the introduction of 6*-10* items

Make it happen, developers!

The FPS issue you experience

The FPS issue you experience may have something to do with the large model of the Core in the background, which is unique to that scene. We'll take a look at that at some point, thanks.

specs

Good to hear Nick!

In case it helps at all, here's my specs. I've mentioned the FPS when at the core and others in the party point out that they don't have any problems at all. So probably some hardware limitation.

HP Pavilion dv7 (yep, laptop... ugg)
Windows 7 Ult x64 SP1
AMD Pheonom II N830 Triple-Core 2.1 GHz
4GB RAM
AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250

I absolutely can't wait to see what they have planned for the core

I'm hoping for some boss that groups larger than 4 take on or something like that. Perhaps go deeper into a tier 4

Theres just so many possibilities

Thanks for taking a look at

Thanks for taking a look at this, the Core is incredibly laggy for me, as soon as I spawn the framerate dies horribly.

I could be wrong, but I also think the fog might be contributing to the lag, since the pre-Haven clockwork areas with the fog effect were very laggy for me, basically, a lot more lag than Firestorm Citadel, but still not as laggy as the Core.
