I look at all the DRAMA on the Coliseum forum, and ask myself: "What goes good with drama?" Then I forget I asked myself that question and just go play Fire Emblem. After a very dramatic event (pick ANY dramatic event from the seventh or eighth game since they'll all work), I think, "Hey! I know what goes good with drama. STRATEGY!" (Or maybe I think, "I'm gonna kick your smug [redacted], Ephidel/Nergal/Sonia/Valter/Caellach/Final Boss of FE:Sacred Stones Who I Will Not Spoil! WITH STRATEGY! I will make my Mages invent COMBUSTIBLE STRATEGY that kicks your smug [redacted]!")

So I'd like to get you guys' opinion- no drama, no OMGATISOVERPOWURDDD or OMGATDOESNOTHINNN, absolutely no bashing of other players or guilds (even if they have ASI VH Flourishes), no letting Nino die in chapter 26, and no going off topic and talking about Fire Emblem. Or Cave Johnson. Wait, see what you did now? You went off topic. Oh, no, wait, that's me.

Right. So I want to hear your general strategies, no matter what your class and weapon styles are. They can be as simple as "go to the closest point, stab all the things, and cap the point" or "follow the Striker, block all the things, and cap the point" or "Cloak, sneak past all the things, and cap the far point", or they can be elaborate tactical maps and flowcharts with branches for everything from whether the enemy team is inebriated or not to whether your team has a Guardian or not. Anything, as long as it's strategy!

And this includes everything in the Coliseum. That's right- if you've got some awesome Blast Network tactics, I'd love to hear them! And you can specify a Tier for your tactic; if it involves Nitronome, for example, you might specify "Tier 3" because Tier 3 is where the Blast Bomb/Nitro really shines.

Go on! Strategize away!

Depends on the map

Traditionally (or lately, I guess I should say) I play as a recon. Most maps have nice open bottom areas where I can hide, and charge up my Callahan. I also carry a BTB and DA for close encounters, but the majority of my damage is gun based. Callahan has great range, so from the bottom, it's a complete suprise (TWSS).

If a group is clustered on a point, I will cloak, sneak in and double swing the DA. Once done, I GTFO, ideally drawing them off the point, and backtrack to cap it.

I'll just modify "go to the closest point, stab all the things, and cap the point" to "go to the point with the most enemies, stab all the things, and go to the next point with the most enemies". Unless I'm actually trying to win, in which case it's cap everything in sight and care less about all the people.

I switch off.

1. My usual is don't use boost until the enemy runs out then, charge at them unrelentlessly until they die.
2. When I rage, (I tend to do it at the last minute of a game) I charge at them, and ; kinda like tmdals hit enemes before the even stop to hit you. I twirl, keeping myself stationary, putting off the enemy and dodging, and chain flourish and hammer combos together by midstepping a lot.(for some reason it doesn't really work on my guildmates)
3. Don't use boost unless you see someone vunerable or are being attackes. I sense people before they come, and hit em while boosting or counterattack.

Welp.

I typically evade most dogfights in Tier 3. I try to mix it up by playing all 3 classes as bomber (yes, even Striker; Chaos set is great), but usually frequent Recon or Guardian. Most of the time while recon, I try to scare people in the nearest/farthest point, making them panic and swing like idiots until their boost breaks or get off the point, then overtake it by spamming Voltaic, Shiver, Stagger, Nitro, DBB, or Shards. It gets the job done, and despite how people tend to spam pulsars, it's relatively easy to dodge the unexpanded bullet (or alternatively, slink between the shots if they leave gaps; or dash through the wall of turquoise and offensively shock them to death).

I die pretty easy to gunners though, so that's where guardian comes in. More tanking, less panic, more bombing. Sometimes I use a barb. Sometimes.

At Tier 2, I typically go wolver clone to practice shield-cancelling the barb. It doesn't go well, at all.

I know all here have likely already seen them, but I highly recommend Blueflood's videos for some excellent examples of different LD strategies, and particularly in regard to the importance of teamwork (or lack thereof in random) and managing capture points.

Less bombing strategies and

Less bombing strategies and more bombing combos. (for T2)

anyway, my favorite is the freeze/lightning cap combo. It can be incredibly disorientating and the multi colored hazes are slightly harder to mentally process and avoid then a single color haze. Not the most effective combo out there, but its certainly the most fun.

Sadly, I upgrade all my bombs to 4*, and now only have blast, irontech, sun shard, spine cone, and poison bombs. So my latest strategy has been to alternate between irontech and blast in a unpredictable pattern. Theoretically, it is supposed to serve a sort of mix up, making it hard for strikers to accurate guess the correct time to boost in an back out, as both bombs have the same CTR, but Iron tech has a slightly slower detonation. the fact that theyre different colors is an added bonus. It works with a varying amount of success. A simple poison + blast/spine cone seems to do alot more damage though.

As for actaul lockdown, I like sneak caping the farthest best when loosing, and trying my best to hold the enemy off there for as long as I can. kinda hard without hazes tho

I have other strategies, including an idea on how to make shard bombing work in t2, but ill post em later maybe

My general rules of thumb:

1) Fight only when it is more productive than capping.
2) Heal when on low health and no enemy is around.
3) Stall fights I cannot win.
4) Delaying cap for more than 10 seconds > preventing personal death.
5) Change loadouts/class when current one is clearly not working.
6) Change attack patterns as frequently as possible.
7) Spam AT so people feel they have a legitimate reason to rage.

RLD:
1. Cap home point
2. Kill everything
3. Proceed to not cap unless there is somebody interesting in the game
4. Spawn camp/go around the map killing everything you see (yes, that includes rock jellies)

GvG:
1. Acquire dmg ultra polaris loadout
2. Spam polaris
3. Spam it more
4. Throw in a DA/GF combo
5. Cap
6. Repeat.

FE: Furnace of the Spiral Order?

Usually send out a high def/res/hp guardian (unequip the weapon) to tank for damage while recon shoots past and gets some damage. If it's really needed, give them a brave, quick sword, too.

I also like to equip my recons with some kind of lightning weapon, since of all elements, they gives about a extra crit and skill% chance of dual strike, if paired up with someone else.
Sometimes, if the recon's skill/speed is high enough for the people attacking the guardian to not matter, it might activate luna, reducing their targets' defense. People don't place too much importance on its effect, but remember, any help is good help.

As far as weapons go, Elstorm Driver (charge) has a pretty good critical chance. I've OHKO'd a full health guardian with its charge with only VH damage bonus. He was pretty mad after losing his guardian that way and took a striker out after me, not that that really helped since my recon was higher level anyway.

Sometimes I'll have a Chaos bombmage with Stagger to reduce enemy speed within a certain range. Paired up with an assassin, they tend to be pretty effective in RLD, since they tend to draw aggro.

Pairing up a guardian general with a good swordmaster striker or two can really increase muscle value in your team especially with their defense aura, but they also do make pretty good bait for snipers, too.

...recently bought FE:A l0ol, couldn't help it.

My story.

1. I'm usually start with Striker so I can cap first point faster.
2. I'm bad at Striker, so I just DA/GF combo! Very effective.
3. If I'm dead, I change to Recon (I pretty good at Recon).
4. Give them Deathmark and see they run like crazy is funny.
5. I don't do DA/GF combo when going Recon unless I'm doing ambush with 3 people standing at cap point.
6. I thing get rough, turn AA
7. Spam polaris + hammer when fighting skilled player.
8. Going striker again when match almost end.
9. See match result and click play again.
10. Wait 10 minute on loding.
11. Repeat.

If you think FE7-8 is bad...

Play FE 12-13 Dammit.

First thirds of both games are drama galore.

I had an interesting tactic work today

I created a shock mist barrier that acted like an artificial shield. The other team wouldn't pass, and we had about three really good strikers and a guardian keeping the heat off me. A different point in the same battle, I dropped down voltaic tempest bombs like there was no tomorrow on the frontlines protected by a guardian shield.

Oh! A different game I was in recently was amazing as we won by one point, and there were only two strikers in total - one on each team. Two guardians work better than one might think.

Also, always have a Guile's theme playing. You will do better.

Break the unbreakable. RAW RAW FIGHT THE POWAH.

Haze bomb guardians tend to think they're invincible to swords inside of their blast radius because they don't expect anyone to actually jump in, endure the shock and slice them to death. They usually die faster because they don't see it coming. Ah, good stuff.
