so, we all know that switch shooting alchemers is a way for gunners to dish out mad DPS, now my idea is, why not make a program that optimises this? yes, you heard me right, a program that does switch shooting with near-optimal efficinency any time every time. not only could you do as much DPS as you could with an antigua just looking at the main shot without rebounds and status, but you also get to look like you are an incredible pro.
before you flame this thread to the ground, I am not propsing people to make such a program, much less to get it as an integral part of the game, rather i want to know two things:
1. would this actually be allowed? it wouldnt modify the game itself, it would just time a few keypresses for you, so it might just be on the verge of legality.
2. how would YOU feel about such a program?
I got a... special idea
wait, it actually EXISTS?
also, thanks for the advice, moved the thread
Switch shooting is already a bug in the game which is often exploited. It's tolerated by most because it does require some co-ordination to use
Creating programs to abuse this exploit however:
actions:
tools, including scripting or macroing software, or attempt to
disassemble the game client and/or decipher the data transmissions
between Spiral Knights' client and server. These activities will result
in immediate termination of the Player's Account and may subject you to
civil and/or criminal liability.
I see, but how would OOO notice that you are using such a program? even if you get reported by someone, you can always claim that you were switch-shooting yourself.
They can easily create a system that keeps a record on the timing of messages that come from your computer, and warn you/ban you if the messages come in a manner that is too precise to be human timing.
Provided the net-connection feeds those precise commands at an equally steady rate.
well, the problem is that we all know OOO can be pretty lazy with fixing things (heck, the mini slimes are STILL utterly broken) so if such a program surfaces, it might take a while for OOO to react and start making such an anti-cheat system.
Provided the net-connection feeds those precise commands at an equally steady rate.
Of course. Alternatively, the system could be programmed into the client to detect when input is too precise, and alert the server.
Suggestions thread. It's real.
