Maximum Fire Resist

I'm currently researching the various ways to reach max fire resist. I'm a pure gunner and have decided to try for a UV fire resist Magic Hood to later turn into a Grey Feather Cowl.

What UV level do I need for Maximum on this item? It has 3 bars of fire resist on it. So I thought High UV would be maximum, but I noticed a fully filled resist bar only has 5 segments.

Also, as a gunner, is there a better way to max fire and eventually shock? Current equipment goal is UV Fire Resist Grey Feather Cowl, UV Shock Nameless Sash, 2x Tetra Heart, Grey Owlite Shield. I could also do Maximum Fire/Shock nameless set, but I need to be realistic =P
Or am I aiming at the wrong gear/resist combination for T3?

Thanks!

To answer your question, no. High + Max doesn't fill the status bar completely. That status bar is capped at the end so once it is filled anything more than that is the most you can get. To fully fill the bar you'll need to get two maximum UVs or combine it with an item that has the equivalent amount. On the right of the picture you can see the natural fire resist from volc demo suit compared to a max UV. On the left you can see a high shock UV and what it totals out to when combined with max. The center picture has full set of volc demo (equivalent to two max uvs combining) which fully fills the bar.

It won't be possible to get full shock/fire resist with nameless set but having a piece with max shock and a piece with max fire should be enough. I run FSC with only 2 bars of fire resist when I split volc demo + mad bomber.

Thanks for the great

Thanks for the great response!

It looks like you don't need a full maximum UV on top of something like a volcanic demo suit to max your resistance. It looks like you need a Very High because 60% of the bar is filled with the natural resist. Then again, I'm just eyeballing that.

Is Fire worthy of maxing over shock? I've noticed fire seems to hurt more, be harder to avoid, and cannot be absorbed by shielding. Or is shock annoying enough where I would want to build a shock resistance piece as well for shock strata?

I love to solo danger rooms and I get mauled by the T3 flamethrower gremlins. It was my original reason for maximum fire resist! Figured fire immunity is worth the lower attack speed from swapping out a nameless piece.

Eh

Actually a maxed resist bar is not the cap. With more fire resist you can become immune to some fire effects (but not to all of them). Or so I heard.
I don't remember who made the tests and told me about them.

@victual vhigh is max @pupu

@victual vhigh is max

@pupu are you sure? I think somebody has fire trinkets + full vog and their vog coat has max fire resist and they've reported the opposite (that the duration/dmg/frequency is similar if not the same

Hm

Hm, I remember the report saying fov dealt the same fire damage and time, but he was immune to fire snakes on the floor.
So it would depend on the source of fire.
The post was not long ago, probably searching it would be easier.

Needs more quantitative

Needs more quantitative research.

Armor UVs have 4 levels: low, moderate, high, max.
low UV should be 1/4 of max UV. Max UV is half the status, as seen by eeks' screenshot.
No clue if the full bar is the true cap because I havn't come across some quantitative research.
