so i was thinking about craft a set with all resistances and all damages.

something like a Dread Skelly Shield (normal/shadow), a Vog Cub Cap (normal/elemental), a Skolver Coat (normal/piercing), all with 1 max UV each (elemental, piercing and shadow), then a Divine Avenger (normal/elemental) and Acheron (normal/shadow) for swords. lastly, a piercing gun like Callahan and/or a piercing bomb like Ionized Salt Bomb (normal/piercing) or Radiant Sun Shards (piercing/elemental).

of course its just for normal floors, not boss floors like vanaduke (where one should use full fire resist).

so... is it a good idea? or it doesnt works fine?

would like to hear you guys before deciding, as i did not started anything yet. i apreciate ideas of other combinations too, of course.

Erm... about the shield

Shields only provide the defenses listed to your "bubble" when you have the shield up. So you may want to reconsider, removing that part from your armor equation.

Otherwise, this looks similar to what I ended up wanting to build, of a good all-round set up. I went with Vog cap and Fallen armor for the sword speeds and normal/elemental/shadow def, then a shadow, elemental, and piercing sword set-up, with elemental gun for construct/zombie shooting when warranted. Works pretty well for me, although I'm lacking in shock resistance, which has a bad habit of killing me. Oh, and I have no UVs due to a lack of interest in bothering with them just yet.

unless..

Unless you plan on using fast swords as a main weapon I would recommend against the skolver. Too few things deal pierce damage for it to be worth investing in for defense. Also I would recommend switching shadow def from the shield to a piece of armor. This is because a shield without elemental resist would be too likely to break in most floors as most enemies deal some amount of elemental damage.

If you are going for a balance 1 set fits all I would recommend

Grey owlite shield (normal and elemental defense with fire and shock resist)
Dread skelly mask (normal and shadow def poison and ice resist, weakness to fire but the shield should cover most attacks and the vog will balance it out)
Vog cub coat (normal and elemental defense, with fire resist to cancel out the weakness from dread skelly)
If you still want pierce resist I would recommend the trinket available with the candy tokens from brinks

Personally I would suggest a set of shadow and a set of elemental resist but that is just my preference. I would HIGHLY recommend a set of fire and shock resist armors though, it makes previously almost impossible scenarios (danger zone with shock grievers for example) and the final dungeon much easier.

Mixing skelly helm and magic

Mixing skelly helm and magic cloak (or opgraded variants) is a good idea. The only weakness is stun, and it resists shock, ice, and posin, and has good defense against shadow and elemental.

oh, i didnt know that the

oh, i didnt know that the shield def applies only when hes actively used '-'

then maybe i take a normal/elemental/shadow helm+armor, with piercing in trinket and UV (i actually have a jelly shield with MAX UV normal defense... D:).

then i could get elemental and shadow for UVs or should i take shadow and normal?

Depends on what teir. Teir 1

Depends on what teir. Teir 1 really only does normal damage, teir 2 does a bit of normal and elemental/shadow/peircing, and teir three dosen't do as much normal damage, ussualy elemental/shadow/peircing. It's hard to get a setup that is completely well rounded.

so the real problem is having

so the real problem is having only elemental+shadow or shadow+piercing UVs in helm and armor, as the shield doesnt works always.

then if its really true that piercing its the most uncommon, i should go for elemental + shadow max UVs.

just need to find or make it...

My favored set is: Divine

My favored set is:

Divine Veil (with UV for Normal): So, that's Elemental, Shadow, and a touch of Normal. Plus fire, shock, and curse resists.
Skolver Coat (with UV for Elemental): So, that's Normal, Piercing, and a touch of Elemental. Plus freeze resist.

...And honestly, the overlapping Normal and Elemental boosts are pretty much a necessity - those two really are the solid centre; I'm always on the lookout for the base gear, with higher UVs.

What do you guys think of the

What do you guys think of the Dragon Scale Shield?

To me, the only unavoidable damage in the game is elemental and piercing as it is required to shield for quicksilvers and poison slimes (t3). Occasionally, shielding for fire from flame puppies, oilers, and vanaduke is necessary as well. I just don't feel that it is necessary to shield normal damage as most of it is avoidable through character movement. This makes a Dragon Scale Shield with Shock resist UV the best shield.

On the same note, I still feel that the Vog armor set is really good because the increased attack speed also mean faster recovery time for shield. If you're a good player, I don't think that you should be worried much about resistances on your armor as you should not be taking any damage without shield up. As for UV, I think Curse resist is a good UV on armor because Faust's charge attack is amazing (cursing a healer or any mob will cause it to kill itself without putting yourself in harms way).

So break down:

Jelly: Dodgeable (easy)

Slimes:
-Quicksilver (have to shield)
-Poison Spikes (have to shield)
-Lichens (dodgeable)
-Oilers (occasional shielding)

Beasts: Dodgeable (easy)

Grievers: Should not shield (hard)

Lumbers: Dodgeable (easy)

Gremlin: Dodgeable (medium)

Zombies: Dodgeable (easy)

Fiends: Dodgeable, a bit harder

Retrodes: Dodgeable (medium)

Kats: Dodgeable (medium)

Scuttlebot: Dodgeable (easy)

Mecha Knight: Dodgeable (easy)

Phantoms: Dodgeable (medium)

Trojan: Dodgeable (medium)

Puppy Turrets: Have to shield

thats true, i didnt though of

thats true, i didnt though of that. the most normal dmg its dodgeble, so the real problems are the elemental ones (specially that constructs that fire beams and puppies).

final sets

so, i got all the ideas and put it simply:

Dread Skelly Mask (normal/shadow)
+
Vog Cub Coat (normal/elemental)

Dread Skelly Mask (normal/shadow)
+
Divine Mantle (elemental/shadow)

Divine Veil (Elemental/Shadow)
+
Skolver Coat (Normal/Piercing)

Radiant Silvermail (piercing/ shadow)
+
Vog Cub Cap (normal/elemental)

there are some with the most common dmgs, and others with all dmgs covered. the UVs depend on the set (the first one dont have piercing, so double piercing UVs should work; better if 1 max then another one for shadow or elemental)

still i dont know which ones take xD
