I have the whole 3* solid cobalt set and I am enjoying it. But is it worth upgrading to a 4* mighty cobalt set and how do I obtain elite alchemy orbs for crafting the recipes. So far I have only 2 elite orbs.
Is the mighty cobalt set good? (helm, armor, mighty shield, master blaster, ascended calibur)
Naw, don't waste resources on it. Go for something like chaos that gives offensive stats.
Move to the Arsenal
There's a lot of pros and cons to each set. All around it's alright. You can always get the other sets later on.
But, for sure ever more weapons NOW:
Piercing, Elemental, Shadow
The recipes that they reward to you are the all around sets for pretty evenly distributed damage overallish... ISH.
I'm using the 4* cobalt set. I don't play often, so I just want to make sure I have one nice default all around average set to use. I'm a filthy casual, what can I say?
Most of all I just like the look of the set.
^Yeah, that'd be the one exception for when you might want it but really, if you plan to play the game more than one day a week shelling out a grand total of 78K for the recipes will benefit you a ton... keep in mind that this is a game almost entirely about getting gear.
Valiance is great. Your mileage may vary a lot for the other gear.
The weapons are fine. The armor is not fine. The armor and shield protects against normal and piercing, with no status defenses. This is extremely specialized armor. And the situation, to which it is extremely specialized, is not very common: piercing damage with no status.
So it's okay to get the weapons. But don't waste your time on the armor or shield.
Oh, the weapons too? Yeah, those are great. +1 to Bopp for reading the OP.
Get a combo of
Divine Veil http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Divine_Veil
Skolver Coat http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Skolver_Coat
Covers ALL defense, offers some resistance against the major status ailments, and adds dmg bonus for swords and fiends. I wish I had done it earlier.

Take a long, hard guess at the primary inhabitants of my inventory. :P
But, we digress from the original topic. I can respect a guy who grabs cobalt. Not awful, and free. More weapons budget, and room for those all-ruling trinket slots.
Surely could use a buff to hold more defensive power in light of no boosts or status resists... same defenses as skolver and Jelly Suit. Ah... skolver....
...Make those skolvers feel bad. MAKE THEM FEEL IT!
Cobalt gears are the most worthless gear in this game, I am not been a hater or anything but a fact is a fact. No status resistance, no weapon performance enhancement and no scenario bonus. While other armors have some of the quality I stated, whether it is scenario or performance enhancement. Colbalt gear has none of those, just don't bother with the colbalt line unless you want the look, nuff said.
Agreed. Cobalt is horrible.
But the 5* Cobalt Weapons (well the nitrome and the valiance) are pretty decent.
The Nitrome is good for crowds (as long as you don't mind angering your team mates)
The Valiance serves as a good all-purpose weapon and has decent knockback when kiting.
The only thing good to come from this list is Valiance. You can bring it anywhere anytime.
Unlike the leviathan when you send a enemy doing a charge attack flying 100 mph at your teammate. The armor line is pretty much the worst thing next to being naked. So if you choose anything, let it be the master blaster's upgrade path to Valiance.
Edit: I got greninja'd
Azure Guardian Armor and Helm are crazy cheap. By cheap I mean you'll spend 80,000 crowns less making that set instead of another set.
Don't upgrade the Defender all the way to Aegis, though. Once you get the Mighty Defender, find the Heater Shield recipe and upgrade it into that. It can take a bit more closeup punishment than the owlite shield, and it covers freeze (the only other shield to do so would be the Dread Skelly Shield)
If you want something for Firestorm Citadel, get the Ancient Plate Shield, Crest of Almire, or Volcanic Plate Shield. There's no elemental damage in Firestorm Citadel that you'll be actively defending against
Move to the Arsenal. As for your question, pancakes.
Cobalt weapons are over all pretty good but the armor and shield is awful. (But they do make great costumes! Some day we may get shield costumes too. Maybe...)
The Valiance is in my opinion, is one of the better guns out there. The Nitronome isn't half bad and has quite a bit of usage. The Leviathan Blade not only looks cool, but gives you a fair fight against anything that comes your way.
As of for the Cobalt Armor and Helm. Straight forward, they aren't real good. They represents exactly what Jorin in the Hall of Heroes says. Just because your armor isn't protecting you from status effects and special damage doesn't mean you can't shake it in a fight. Cobalt armor and the shield IS useable, but only if you really want a free set of armor.
But in all honesty, if you ever plan on buying tons of energy I'd recommend checking out the supply depot. You may find a good armor set that suits you. Though this should only be the case if you truly do want to expand your arsenal as quick as humanly possible.
You can upgrade that to almirian crusader set. Not the best think in the world but it's great to show off.
I personally really regret making my Azure Guardian set and Valiance as my first 5* gear. Aegis isn't bad but I really could've spent my money on better gear, Chaos or something, and specialized damage weapons. Valiance isn't a bad gun, but there's better ones out there.
It's good as the default set. No buffs, no downfalls, just all around default.
Wolver-Skolver Set is a direct upgrade though, if you want to run the extra mile to farm crowns for the Wolver set recipes.
