What is the reasoning for postponing the gunner update? I would like a GM to post here please. Money? Laziness? Trolling us? Or did you go so low as to listen to this thread? This isn't funny.

And no. There is no a prize box promo full of costume stuff, accessories, or 5* useful stuff that's going to save your hides on this one. The inevitable Winterfest is the least we'll take to pass the time.

theorycrafting

-After the backlash from calling Obsidian weapons "totally new", they must have postponed the update in order to make more mechanical changes. That means they might have had restat/recolor weapons.

-They ran into lots of bugs and deemed it too unstable to do as much as test.

-They were too ambitious and ended up trying to get more work done than they could with the time allotted.

-They decided to rebalance more than just guns and the armor related to them.

-Something happened to their staff members.

-They accidentally wasted time by creating mechanics or stats that were massively under/overpowered and need more time to work out the kinks.

-Some of the items they have in mind are meant to be a reward from the new boss, and they want to release them at the same time as opposed to making large revisions afterward.

Maybe they are giving us something different and for winterfest, like they added the Apocrean content without prior announcement?

They must be stockpiling player tears for their winter hibernation.

And people wonder why OOO doesn't say anything... This is how the Valve Time meme came into being. The fans want to know when, they provide a deadline, then they realize that it could be better if they had more time, thus they push the deadline to the dismay of the fans.

Funny thing is...

Winterfest will probably be a week or two, like Dark Harvest, and probably at least two weeks from now.
Way to keep people playing.

Geez people. Give OOO a break.

I'm personally of the opinion that their goal was too ambitious and made without good information and understanding of the task (for example, Bob McBobJoe thought Spanish was easy, so he tried to master it in a week. Wasn't pretty.) However, as Draycos said:

-A lot more bugs/more OP stuff that they're trying to balance out.

-They plan to do more than add guns (change Gunslinger armor, maybe give them a new look, etc.)

-Crisis. They aren't obligated to let you know about their personal life.

-Seeing a bunch of people spitting vitriolic at them CRUSHED THEIR SPIRITS AND WORK ENERGY. >.> <.< ^.^ v.v

-They had legal trouble (violation of their contract with SEGA, for example).

-They feel that the people here insulting them are the voice of the whole community and conclude that we're like rotten children and don't deserve it. Frankly, I can't argue with them on this aspect if it's true.

-They got into the flow (went on a mass creation spree) and didn't want to interrupt it with any small update that wouldn't have the full effect of releasing it all in one go. Hopefully this one.

-They're really referring to Gun Puppies and are actually planning to make 24 new kinds with each having their own new status effect. Probably not, but
I'd spit my coffee all over my screen if this happened.

-They plan to introduce NPC's that help along with this update that use the gun. Even less likely than above, but it'd be nifty.

-They feel as though the game has gotten boring, and plan for the new guns to give the community a rush of excitement. Kinda like how on Christmas you get the best presents ever that you didn't even expect, thinking that you'd get some more socks.

-What? This? This is just to make the list look longer and thus cooler.

Really and seriously..

.. open spiralspy... look at the guns... pay particular attention to the pulsar folder

... you will feel millions of times less upset that this isn't coming out yet.

And really

It isn't like this sort of delay is new. The guild hall update, the sprite update, now this one. You'd think it'd be something to just expect.

If the testing server isn't out, don't expect it to be for at least a few months. This holds true toward any and all updates. Just make the assumption.

If progress on the Testing Server is any indication for you naughty players who peek in the files, you'll notice a severe lack of armors and helms, and rather a few interesting things that may make Winterfest 2013 look to be much more fun than Winterfest 2011 and 2012 combined. Let them take as long as they need, the more time the better, really.

I wonder what kind of irrelevant game-breaking glitch they're going to sneak in this time.

I'm just gonna re-post this

I'm just gonna re-post this here cause the thread is a perfect example of what I'm talking about

"I'm actually really glad they told us and are keeping us, at least partially in the know. What would be far worse, is if they released the test server now, and went with the patch next Wednesday. There needs to be more collaborating- constructive collaboration- between the devs and the community, and an early release certainly would not help. I don't want another shard bomb incident. Heres to hoping that the community and development can iron out this trend of... distrust, in the future, cause thats what SK really needs, not content"

Basicly, this is much better news than, oh hey, we're releasing the patch soon, without your input. just iron out these bugs for us community

Can we at least get the new rank missions? If both updates are to launch at the same time then that's cool too.

A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad
-Shigeru Miyamoto

I think this also applies for patches, although a patch can be patched but releasing a bad patch is a bad idea if we're talking SK and its community.

I know Sonic '06 was notorious for its bugs, but I don't think it was what killed it, it was the Plot.

I mean, the Storyline is just ridiculous. It doesn't even look like a Sonic game!
