I would like to know if there are communities that are even meaner and "trollier" than ours *cough Tweeter *cough Annilation.
Does this game have one of the most toxic communities?
Honestly, we're all humans who like to play video games, so no forum is really any better or worse than any other.
Obviously, the larger a forum gets, logically there are more negative forumers. (since it's always around the same x% of the community that is negative) Due to the fact that negative forumers tend to be the loudest and most easily recognisable, it does seem that larger forums/communities are worse, (examples of large groups with loud negative participants involve Call of Duty, LoL, both Justin Beiber fans and haters, Dubstep fans and haters, Christians and Athiests, etc) but it really isn't the case.
If you picked 10 people at random from any community, and another 10 people at random from another community, they would both be very similar. Their interests might be different, but the average person from one group is still very close to the average person of another.
Every game will have a mixture of players, and some have higher densities of certain people than others. Spiral Knights has so many nice or neutral people, and the only real toxicity that comes out of the community are the sore losers who expect to be the best instead of adapting to new challenges - but those kind of people inhabit every video game. A long-time favorite game of mine is called "Blockland", and its community was worse than Spiral Knights. In game, people were amazing, kind, and overall fun(for the most part). On the forums, there was this hivemind of negativity that makes Lockdown look pleasant. Heck, even the creator of the game acted like a jerk(more of like an annoyed parent).
All in all, Spiral Knights has a good community with the a few exceptions (both real unpleasant people and people who think they're unpleasant, but really aren't) that don't really affect the whole.
Maybe it is the fact that these forums are very very basic and archaic that brings out the trollmode in half the people on here.
Preeeetty sure the main problem with the forum community here is that it's very small (few people bother to come here) and made up almost entirely of veterans who are altogether tired of the game as it is and probably need a change of pace. I believe TV Tropes has something to say about very small fan communities tending to be very focused and of narrow vision for the work...but then, communities that are too large just have everyone shouting and nobody truly being heard. Spiral Knights' fandom could stand to grow by close to an order of magnitude--enough to have more competing thoughts but not so much that it all gets lost in the mire.
OOO should give me a popsicle--then I would be happy.
You DO hear the squealers on COD, right? Unless you are in LD (which is a broken abomination anyway), this community is angelic by comparison.
"most toxic" is overshooting it at any angle you look at. Wipe off skolver clones and criticism of other equipment sets, kill LD in favor of good PvP, and this game is an absolutely beautiful and harmonious place.
I honestly find it distasteful that everyone stereotypes Roblox (my first community since I was 12. Barely playing). Little do they realize it had its golden age back in 2006-2009. Different story.
The WORST people to fight against are those two-year old fanboys who think rushed games like Busby 3D, Superman 64 and Sonic 06 have no flaws and were made perfectly. Those people should have their hind slapped with all the reviews made by gamers who play REAL games and that know the difference between a good game, a great game, and a messy pile of code stapled together. And yes, there are a few threads on a few websites where the first sentence happens. I dunno where they are, it's,been a few months since I found them.
Also some people mention Rumble Fighter's community.
I haven't played LoL, but the Dota 2 community is definitely more toxic than SK.
Sk is just odd in that the forum community is significantly more toxic than the in-game community. With Dota at least, the forums tend to be a lot kinder than the people in game.
"Sk is just odd in that the forum community is significantly more toxic than the in-game community."
I don't find anything on the forums anywhere near as toxic as when I step into some random LD matches.
You don't know toxic until you've actually seen the Call of Duty community, thousands of people sending death threats to the community manager's house all over a nerf of a weapon he had nothing to do with. Having his family harassed and have constant death threats sent to his family and children.
There's other ones too but saying this community is "one of the most toxic" is nothing but lies.

/coughLOCKDOWN/caugh
Agreeing with Zeddy here. Lockdown and its forum is extremely toxic. Sure, there's probably just one dirty mouth per game in the beginning but one very often triggers another. Same goes for the forum, although I'd say it's worse because most people with manners stay away due to the ones without them.
Mainly because of *cough*Terrty? XD
Definitely not the most toxic. But one of the least intelligent comunities? Yes.
Just look at all the people who make dumb responses and idiotic threads. They are everywhere here...
Probably due to the 13+ age, with the G rated ToS guidelines.
@OP No, I've seen communities much worse than this one. I already disowned the Lockdown Community, but I think over the last like 2 days or so the GD has gotten, well, more condescending. It's not really a 'toxic' community. Like I said, just condescending.

Naming and shaming? :s

Yep.
One of the reasons why I stopped playing this game (all those sweet six months ago) was because of this community. I have posted and read many comments on many forums, and this community is one of the worst. Why? Because of those people who think they are better than others because they have spent so much money on the game. That's what I found anyway. I was chosen to be a moderator on the Don't Starve forum on steam and honestly that is one of the best communities going.
So to answer the OP question. Yes sk does have one of the most toxic communities.
"Because of those people who think they are better than others because they have spent so much money on the game."
I should redirect your attention to here.
I got reported for trying Leblanc ADC.
went 6/2/1
reported for feeding.
gg LoL
You should have seen the Minecraft server my stepbrother had the misfortune to step into. The chat log was a perpetual cluster F-bomb, with racist comments of multiple kinds as well as derogatory comments toward the mentally disorderly, leaving me convinced that said mentally disorderly people probably had a larger IQ than the guys on that server. Compounding this, nobody answered my stepbrother's question about block protection.
That place was more toxic than a non-maintained sewer system linked to every septic tank in a large city that's just been filled with 1000000 rads while simultaneously having an entire forest of poison hemlock snapped apart inside all at once.
Runescape has forums sent from hell.
Edit: Never mind. The community there has very improved.
What a shame. It seems spiral knights are a spoiled race.
Good thing about COD is that you can mute the idiots and don't have to read the rubbish they spout. On top of that it is much easier to troll them by camping and sniping. Besides in COD you can tell who the children are, here you can't so you don't know who to take serious or not. I can safely say though most of the people who act clever here are under age. They have definitely mastered using a thesaurus. After sk forum the steam forum in general is the worst, at least there you have a bunch of moderators who sort some things out by banning the ones who cause trouble.
Please turn around and have a gander that the LoL, Roblox, and CoD communities please.
