Buying Unlimited Usage Items from Supply Depot

What's this? A suggestion involving the supply depot and the possible thought stupidly high energy prices on stuff we almost never use? Yes.

But I'm going to talk about items that are actually rather useful. Or for the most part, the rare item drops. This includes Mecha Knight Kits, Recon Signal Flares, Artillery Strikes, and the Auto Turret Kits that are suppose to exist but don't. (As far as I'm aware of anyways).

What this is suggesting is to let players to buy the items we find in the clockworks and allow us to use them when ever we want. You would pay a certain amount of energy which I will list depending on usage, then they will be forever added to your arsenal. You could then use these items to put into your layouts. Only 1 can be equipped at a time however, and a maximum amount of the item can ever be used at one time.

Here now, is the list of the items, how much it should cost, and how many can be used at once:

Mecha Knight Kits- 2,500 Energy- Maximum of 6 at a time.

Artillery Strikes- 1,500 Energy- Maximum of 1 at a time.

Auto Turret Kits- 5,000 Energy- Maximum of 4 at a time.

Recon Signal Flares- 10,000 Energy- Maximum of 4 at a time.

WOAH!!! Who would pay that much for a Recon Ranger!? Well, these supply depot items are copies directly from what you pick up. This wont just spawn in some Recon Rangers, it also has that death mark. You know, that blinking yellow to red sign above enemies near by an incoming Ranger? For those that do not know, that signal dramatically reduces a monsters defense. Enough to deal massive amounts of damage with a weapon that monster is resistant too. Some Lockdown players would know how it works from experiencing it themselves.

It's basically carrying around a 1 hit kill switch you can use when ever you want. Then even after that, the Recon Rangers will still stick around for minor damage support and best of all: a meat shield! 4 of them at once as well. You can be ripping away at monsters and they wont even notice because they are too busy fighting the guys with the 2* guns.

Auto Turret Kits may be the next questionable price. Well, square one is the fact that turrets are excellent meat, or in this case, metal shields. Along with this you can use them to create tiny defensive forts that you and any team mates can just stand inside. Fallowing up with multiple charge attacks along with knockback and shock from the turrets themselves. All you would need to do is make sure the one with the turrets is staying alive to keep building the turrets after they have been destroyed.

But these turrets are quite weak. Just 4 would only spread shock through so many monsters and in deeper depths they can be disposed of rather quickly. So quick in fact that the person building may just switch to manual fighting and only tossing a turret in every now and a then just to make sure that 5,000 energy wasn't a loss from their pockets.

I think that the prices for Mechas and Artillery Strikes is fair enough. Mechas can't even be effective as meat/metal shields and they cause way more knock back than damage. Having 6 alone could be a nightmare for your team mates. Artillery Strikes, though useful for spreading unannoying damage, isn't very effective. And there will never be a guarantee that those missiles will even hit something.

Well, this is what I think about it. Anyone think prices should be changed? Or perhaps other items should be added to the list or removed?

I just browsed by this post hoping the OP'd mention endless snowballs and confetti. Would never get another thing done.
All well +1/2 all the same.

There are many problems with this idea. First off, being able to use these items an unlimited amount of time would easily unbalance the game as you could have a party of 4 with 4 recon knights each for a total of 16 pummeling away at monsters, and they would just respawn when they run out. The same idea would be applied to the other items as well, being able to use them infinitely would not be fair, which is the reason they drop so rarely inside the arcade as it is. Second, the prices are so high that only the insanely rich would even consider buying these items, so they would see very little use; but if the price was lowered, so many people would buy them that players would start using these instead of actually fighting themselves. The high prices also favors P2P players, leaving F2P players out of the loop. Lastly, as far as i know auto turrets are not a consumable item, but an energy weapon that must be powered up to use, much like the mecha knights inside Deconstruction Zones. And you can only ever have 4 of a single item at a time, so having 6 mecha knights wouldn't be possible.

Your attempt to balance this idea was sound, but the idea itself isn't good enough to hold up to balancing.

Trust me, I thought of the balance issues

This idea was never really balanced to begin with when you think about it. That's why I made the prices insanely high. If you really want to be that over powered you will need to give something in return. Gigantic amounts of time or money. A lot of other games work this way too.

Auto Turrets are suppose to be droppable items ever since OOO added more items like barriers. At least I am pretty sure it said something about turrets dropping. But apparently they never do. They technically exist but they just don't. Making them all the better for buying as a special item.

As for items going over the amount of 4, remember that I'm talking about infinite items. Not just the 3 you can pick up. There can be an extra tab by the side of the vitakit perhaps, that shows how many times you may use the equipped item before they despawn or die. And if you are talking about only having 4 as a universal maximum, I've gotten 6 mechas to fallow me in not only decon zones, but also in OCH. I activated all the mecha knights and spawned in a few I had been carrying around. This would be possible. So the same would probably apply to Recon Knights and Turrets, though I've never had more than 3 Recons and 1 Turret at a time.

It's not the idea of unlimited ideas itself that i don't like, it's just the use of already droppable items being unlimited. If this were to happen, it would be better to make up entirely new items specifically for that purpose, and possibly make them in a way that they don't cost 10k CE to buy. I wouldn't want to buy an item that costs more than a 5* weapon. If it's powerful enough to be used in T3, about 3,000 energy is the max I'd pay for one no matter how good it is.
Mech kit and artillery strike could be ok for this, as long as mech kits are only 4 max including ones activated from energy, and neither of them drop from monsters/boxes anymore. And mech kits actually get T3 sword this time. Maybe have a turret kit too, but a different one from the ones currently in game. Not sure what you could have as the 4th item, but as long as it's not a recon knight. We would already have helpers in the form of mech knights, so having another would make one used all the time and the other neglected.

And as for the mech knights, im pretty sure you can only pick up 4 kits. Sure, if you already had a few activated before then it's possible to have 6 total, but to activate 6 all at one time would be a bit much especially if you can just spawn more once one dies.

This just seems like a "buy this to win game" suggestion. They might as well just be cheat codes.

Cool idea. I want trinket and weapon slots to be like that too.

I agree on Hexzyle on this. All this does is give a Pay to Win scenario no matter how high you put the price. Unlimited usage means that I could just spam Recon Flares all I wanted and I'd had unlimited support killing everything for me.
