Energy and Alchemy

I know myself and a few others have been coming up short on alchemy orbs and finding ourselves unable to complete 5-2 HALL OF HEROS (teir 3 helm, armor, weapon, and shield). Did we mess up somewhere or is this level of progression typically the end of the road for free-to-players?

I've noticed crowns can be exchanged for orbs, but it's really expensive and would take just over the total number of crowns I've ever earned to pass this kind of mission which, up until now, have been a freebies. For multiple reasons too complicated to get into, most types of online transactions don't work for me or people in my town (though i haven't tried yet), and when they do it's really frustrating navigating all the channels needed to get it working; so could we go over the most efficient way to get orbs?

Do purchased Alchemy Orbs bind to players, and does it cost anything to sell items on the player market? I'd imagine no matter how you buy orbs, whether by Visa-purchased energy, Crown-purchased energy, or from the market with crowns, it would always come out to about the same cost (right now about 6000 crown or 67 energy each), but what stratagem should players use to get the most bang for their buck, and is there any advice for players unable to directly purchase energy?

I never thought I'd have to bother with energy sales until now but I've really been enjoying the game and it would be a pain if it ended here. Any advice would be appreciated.

You are giving up too early. Back then, elevators costed 10 energy and we had mist tanks that could store 100 energy at most. We were limited to 10 levels per day, so T2 players would do one of the following:

-Do RJP 3 times a day. Vendor token reward for 3.5k cr. (2500*5+3500=16k cr per 36-48 hours.)
-Do RJP w/o boss 5 times a day. (2300*5=11.5k cr per 24-36 hours)

Both methods earn you enough money to pass 5-2 HoH in 4-7 days. And guess what- completing all 5-2 missions reward you 8 (eight) Advanced Orbs of Alchemy. That covers the helm, armor and shield (Considering you should get at least one orb as a drop, that is.).

The real problem is 6-2 HoH, where missions give you only 1/6 of the orbs you need. But elite orbs are significantly more common than advanced orbs. They have a chance to appear between D10-D22. You will probably get enough orbs for at least two 4* items while going through the missions and playing the game.

And the final BAWS- 8-2 HoH! That was one of the reasons I committed suicide with my old account. One single 5* item would cost 86k cr in total. Therefore, Champion rank(9-1) would cost 344k cr, unless you are using the mission reward recipes (And you should not. At least not the Cobalt set). If you continue on with regular RJP farming, passing the final HoH would take 15-30 days. Hard, but far from impossible.

TL;DR: With missions generously covering a lot of crafting costs, the loot increase from elite difficulty, elevators being free, and pet foods as a good crown source, all the HoH missions can be past without spending a single penny.

if you want to stay out your way from supply depot, learn how to survive well, go to depth 14 - 17 arcade elite difficulty, search the ones with lots of treasure boxes (like arena or treasure vaults, avoid graveyard and compound), skip through monsters if you could and only destroy boxes. That would be the most efficient way to get "free" elite orbs of alchemy.

Danger areas from clockwork tunnels are also great, but it's really hard around those depth (harder than regular tier 3, imo), since you have tier 2 damage penalty but tier 3 monsters come out.

Repeating what bluencool had already said, if you can manage your spark of life (not losing too soon), the current system is actually easier to grind than pre-big update.

edit:
oh wait 5-2 hall of heroes is not tier 3, it's 3 star. That means you want to go depth 9 - 12 arcade.

yes, it's that hard

Roughly speaking, 4-star is supposed to be twice as expensive as 3-star, and 5-star is twice as expensive as 4-star. (And that doesn't even count the insane cost of heating 5-star items now.) So, yes, you are supposed to be patient. Players who can't be patient can spend real money; the game survives because some fraction of players do. But many, many, many players have made it to good 5-star stuff without spending any real money. Just keep going.

^ +1 to the oldies

Yea, one of the easiest ways to pass HoH 5-2 is just to farm RJP/JK until you have enough boss tokens to purchase a full set of 3* gear.

Considering that a piece of Jelly Boss Armour costs 15 tokens and 1 weapon is 20 tokens

1 full run nets you 3 boss tokens, and you'll need 65 tokens to get the full set. This gives you a needed 22 RJP runs.

That will give you enough boss tokens for a full set of armour and a 3* weapon without crafting anything [Both weapons are considered excellent by the way, and should be added to your arsenal regardless]

As a bonus you'll make up to 60kcrs or more if you're playing on elite difficulty, not to mention orb drops!

And if you're not feeling their jellyness, you can easily pawn the (bound) armours to the vendor for a cool 3500crs each.

Then you can buy something nice!

Time-wise, 1 RJP run takes me ~20 mins, so you're looking at some grinding :P

On a Side note, if you have the OCH DLC and you've completed the 3* mission, the RJP becomes incredibly easily, since the DR 3* bomb is devastating vs the slow moving slime boss.

Oh o.o

I find it funny that everyone were so stress about getting advanced orb for 3* HoH.
I mean i got so many that i don't even need from farming "Shadow of the beast" mission in elite.
So far, used three orb for a dusker cap and still got 7 left over(three for twisted targe).

Mist bombs also work well on

Mist bombs also work well on RJP, especially if you have party members to help with aggro and turrets. 4* shock+fire, and some mask quills whenever it starts healing, and that boss is gone almost as fast as using DR (no damage increase).

Mist bombs suck on RJP. All you need is an Acheron. (Or if you're not yet a 5 star player, a catalyzer.)

Mist bombs, unlike swords and

Mist bombs, unlike swords and DR, quickly wipe out the minis, which are typically what damage me in the boss level. And a catalyzer for poison is rather outdated if you have a maskeraith, which I do. The quills also break quickly while being shot from the fire and shock ticks.

Not just the poison. The insane damage. And why the heck would you worry about the minis?

Because they can be hard to

Because they can be hard to hit if I'm lagging and are rather nasty in switching directions while attacking. And not everyone has an Acheron. Sure, DR with damage increase would go faster, and if someone has max damage and CTR on an Acheron he can just waltz through, but not everyone has top level gear or are just swordies. Some of us make do with lower level gear and use other types of weapons. :P

On elite difficulty.

You can easily slay hordes of mini slimes with a PROTO SWORD!

my recommendation for the Jelly Palace

Here is how I passed your problem:

1) I asked an ingame friend to bring me through the missions until I could get the jelly amor (5 runs).

2) With one amor piece that protect perfectly against jellies you can repeat it some more times to get the helmet or the shield. Until now I did use that free Blaster you get in a mission before. It helps you to keep monsters at distance and you don't die that often.

3) In the time you get the full jelly set (helm, amor and shield) you should have enough material to craft one weapon with 3 stars. (If I remember correctly I did craft that 3 star Calibur).

4) After having a perfect set, you should replay this mission alone (not including the boss) and learn how to dodge enemies. Learn how their attack pattern works, how they attack, how they stop and get an animation below before they attack, how to make use of your shield (Pushing enemies away by simply rising your shield), how to get close to a Puppy Turret without getting hit, how to evade turret bullets and how to make use of your Battle Sprite.

I can not recommend that you move if you did not learn these things. Try to have at least some flawless runs; in other words: be able to do a full run (including boss) without getting hit even once.

5) The place where I did learn how to play was the 'old' Mission Rise or Fall with a real arena inside and with many Mecha Knights in the end. For you I recommend to find an arena in the Arcade and try to get there. Arenas offer a challange, but if you master this challange you should have a good base, skill wise.

(note #1: You can open a gate Map on the bottom-left of your Window. The Shield-Symbols are arenas.)
(note #2: An evevator got a picture of the next level. If you know that the next depth could be an arena, you can wait until the elevator symbol changes to the shield, which represents an arena.)

This shall work as a beginning.

Like other posters already wrote: you can play this game without paying one penny in a fair time.

This game takes time

You will just have to keep playing and grinding... this game takes time. There is no cut and dry way to get orbs, sorry.

If you have 3 or 4 weapon slots, an Ash of Agne (or other lower * fire mist bomb) works wonders in RJP. Don't let them tell you otherwise. Bring shadow brandish, killo watt pulsar (or better), and a Fiery vaporizer (or better). RJP is pretty easy with that setup. Once all of those are at 5*, everything dies very, very quickly. If you have a forth slot, bring your trusty Dark Retribution, and the King is very, very easy... $0.02
