What does being part of a guild mean to you?

I'm quite curious about this one. What are you looking for in a guild? What should the guild provide for you? But also, what can you add to the guild? Please refrain fro standard answers like "I want it to be social with 250+ members etc" since I've been in a lot of big and smaller guilds and most people tend to stay mute unless you force the conversation out of them.

Just some people to play around with... I always help my guildies through DMs (more like the other way around). And I donate 1K cr for each day I logged in. Got a position in a guild called Ultima, with about 20/135 active members in total. It is a small guild, but it is my home, ever since the first guild that I was in died (it literally died). Guild gives me a sense of belonging, I still wonder which guild would I go to when Ultima is finished... lion heart... Jemp (Nah)... or something else...

Well, if someday my guild disbanded, here is what I can offer to any guild, pvp or pve:
-A crap tonnes of furniture mats.
-LD shiver, crusher(Aka. rule 34 bomb) and blast bomb spam
-LD polaris spam
-T3+ arcade runs
-DM
-SL... only when I got stuff to craft, I still have about 600CE that I made before the orb patch that are collecting dust. I can do UGW, UIMF and URJP, got all the gears for it. :3 Haven't done any though... so expect me fail
-1.5 years of SK experience, if that counts for anything

ps. Scirio, sry about the arcade run that day, I took the coward's wayout, but still, all I had is CIV and blitz, so there is not much I can do to those constructs(that toxic compound level, remember) and I hate to waste sparks. So, yeah, sry, but I did went through the beast arena after that, all 3 arena completed using just the ER. Hope that proves that I am not that much of a noob :(

Well...

About 9 months ago, I was a bad slightly over average player looking for an LD guild. Then a person from Brick Squad came. Everyone was kind and helped me improve. They made me the lockdown player I am today. I love Brick Squad and always will. I will never leave. Thank you Brick squad, and remember I love you.

Hmm...

I like how guilds are an extent of a friend's list without needing to friend. Guild mates are kinder and have patience with one another versus random strangers. I look for a good guild who knows how to have a good time and has their laughs together over G-Chat. I add 1kcr a week or more to the treasury to keep the dream alive. My guild is filled with a load of oddballs of awesomeness.

Geez, there was just a thread about this.

Here's what I would look for in a guild.

1) Large and active - Since guilds are primarliy groups for talking and playing together, you'll want one with very active members, probably the more the merrier.

2) A nice guild hall - It just makes for a fun place to hang out together, and having a nice one adds prestige to your guild and aids in recruitment.

3) Well-Organized - This includes clear guidelines for promotion and behavior. A good Wiki site helps a lot here, and a website is even better.

4) Playing together - Here is where people will have strong preferences. If they like guild vs. guild Lockdown, then that might be a priority when looking for a guild. If they don't want to play with newer less capable players, then they'll want an elite-type guild. If they find over-powered parties boring and like helping newer players, then they'll want a guild that focuses on that. Or maybe they'll just want to keep it to a small amount of close friends.

5) Good Guild Master(s) - If the leadership is strong, mature, and seems to always have a good amount of in-game wealth, the guild will almost certainly prosper.

6) Personality of the guild - While they are probably some guilds you know you wouldn't enjoy being a part of, you won't really know how well a guild fits you until you've been in it.

7) Where you are as a player - After you've been around for awhile and depending on your personality, you may reach a place where you just want to be the founder and guild master of your own guild. Be warned - it's a lot tougher than it looks! But there is probably no greater reward in the game when you succeed at it.

If it's not obvious, then let me make it clear. I am fishing for tips on guilds.

Biggest problems I have are certainly not the member count or GH, but rather the activity, while we do have a decent amount, most of them just tend to log on once every other day or so. Recruiting active members seems to be quite the ordeal nowadays.

Also Mid, don't worry about it. I was just in bad mood because heating 5* takes a lot of time.

my 2 cents

Being part of a guild is one thing.

But to bring a guild to the next level and keep on pushing the guild ability to grow and expand, is what I thrive on. A simple Spiral Knights guild joined 20 or so people on a Teamspeak Server close enough to know each others routine, pets, family and work scedule... opened up a Minecraft server, TF2 party, LoL games, SC2 games, PoE runs... We might even get into Hearthstone beta

A guild is a group of people that gets together to play along. Whether it is for bargain deal, overall runs (SL, DM, Arcade) or for simply furnishing a Guild Hall (which I love), it's a community that keeps on growing, or stalls, depending on the officers and Guild Masters ambitions...

I left my guild for a week because of IRL problem (I was just fed up with a lot of stuff) and was Admin Server Query of the Teamspeak server, which mean I could easily ban everyone. Having those power given to you and being trusted by so many is also wonderful.

Being an officer of Warriors of Legends (and the only bright guy) I manage a lot the guild. A guy tried to join for a week but my GM didn't want him because he "mysteriously" appeared in the friend list of a lot of guild member so they thought he hacked them (although he just changed name). Took me 5 minutes to figure it out, took them 2 weeks and they still can't figure out.

WoL is being runned by me mostly, and I can write this w/o any fear of my GM reading it... Maybe another Officer will read it but I don't really care about it ^ ^

Being in a small guild means I don't get over 50 random invites in a single week.

Being in a bigger guild means big headaches.

Large Guilds, Small Guilds...depends on what you prefer!

A guild means to me as a place to have fun with other people, make new friends and come up with crazy things for the guild to do. :3 I've always preferred smaller guilds, though I did try a larger one once and found pretty fast that it didn't suit me. The environment difference between small and large is vastly different.

Smaller guilds tend to be tight-knit overall and you generally know most people by name. It's easier to welcome and get to know new members pretty easily. One of the downsides is the guild can easily change over a decision, good or bad, or by the changing of the GM, as there is generally one or two. Generally, there's a small handful of officers, usually close friends of the GM or voted in by the guild, that help manage guild problems, enforce rules and maybe some other things.

From what I've seen, I could be wrong, larger guilds tend to have small groups of friends all over the place and new members might feel kind of lost unless you already have some friends in that guild. I've found larger guilds to generally have multiple GMs and many officers to handle all the duties and generally manage the guild. Big decisions can affect the guild as a whole but small changes in officer or GM ranking and the like generally don't affect the guild as a whole.

Owsla is my Guild...

And it's the second guild I've ever been in. It's a great guild to be in, and we have active and friendly members who are ready to help each other out.

And that, I think, is what my guild means to me. It's not just a group of random people who I'm "in a guild with". They're more friends, a list of people who will help each other out, not because we have to help, but because we want to help.

Despite have a large guild (300 or a little less) we all know each other and really enjoy hanging out. And of course, you can always count on them to show up when you're surrounded by a pack of Greavers.

So, that's what I think about my guild, and I'll answer the OP's 3 questions:

What are you looking for in a guild?
I'm looking for teammates who can help me out when I need a hand, and a group of friends who will be fun to hang out with.
What should the guild provide for you?
An awesome guild hall, and a helping hand in missions/boss runs.
But also, what can you add to the guild?
I can help my guildmates, and give them the help and support they need to become strong, active Vanguards :D

Mah guild is mah family!

The guild I'm in means more than just a group of people. Some guilds are GvG, some are PvP, some are all concerned about gameplay, some are money crazy, but I like family-type guilds. Where you're just a bunch of players looking to have fun, and not worry about all that in-game stuff (except the damned radiants).
