Guess I should have explained more. Shiver is mostly a support bomb. I find the increased radius of the 5* better than DMG and CTR: it freezes larger groups of zombs, and you don't have to stand as close to Vana to keep him frozen.
Now that 5* gear is unheatable, what have you guys been doing with your time in game?

I wonder if T2 lockdown has ramped up at all because of this. If I were a lockdown player, I'd want to be able to craft new weapons to test new strategies often.

Oh...
I myself am mainly T2. I sometimes go to T3, but I spend most of my time in T2... in fact, I've been doing nothing but LD all week. Yes, it's pretty terrible, but it's still fun (from time to time).

I've significantly cut back
I've significantly cut back on my playing. I stopped playing just before the Halloween update due to needing to focus on real life issues. I managed to get back on to at least get the Obsidian Bomb (although I didn't have time to get the Obsidian Gun). Then I stopped for a couple weeks, again, to focus on real life things. Once those RL stuff was taken care off, I came back to the game.
Only to find... eeeeh, there's not much point to play at the moment. I'm not inclined to go through FSC just for 0 to 6 Radiants. And I heard that Sparks of Life drops have become rare. So, while I have plenty of sparks, I'm not inclined to waste 'em on tough missions which have little by way of reward. Yeah, I know it's a free game, but it's human nature to weight effort vs reward, even if the reward is just a digital coin of no value outside the game.
Compare this to the pet update, wherein I've been quite active until just before the Halloween update...
I'm just waiting for there to be a place to farm Radiants again. Yes, this is ultimately meaningless, it's a free game and the gameplay will be the same even if there's a new map etc. Yes, I don't HAVE to heat everything up to 5* level 10 etc. But not being able to "complete" the game just grates on my human nature. It gives me the imaginary impression that the effort isn't worth it because there's no reward.
I'm not berating OOO or the game or whatever, but I will say that I'm one player who's barely touched the game for a month, maybe a month and a half, because of the Radiants scarcity. It's not that the gameplay has changed. It's simply because a psychological fallacy has formed. I acknowledge it's all in my head, but at the same time, this has made me stopped playing.

Not necessarily, particularly if you're aiming for Vana. As you'll need the Shiver's range in order to affect Vana in his final phase. The problem is that due to the lack of radiants, your bomb charging is gonna be pretty slow.
I'm gonna assume Drachronos is neither a bomber with bomber gear, nor could he afford trinkets to speed up the bombing.

Certain level 1 5* armor are better than level 10 4* armor because of their resistances and special abilities.
Aside from bombs, you're better off with 4* weapons at this point. For bombs, the reason to getting 5* is the notable increase in range. But aside from Shivermist Buster vs Vana, you don't strictly need max range. Oh, and Vortex Bombs really benefit from the range increase as well, but due to their slow charge rate and reduced walking speed while charging... Vortex Bombs may not be a viable bomb to dabble in.

I think Lockdown is more or less one of the more popular choices due to the Radiant drout, so can we possibly put together some T1 games? Would keep people's minds off the fact they can't do jack squat with their 5* weapons.
