At this point, I think Iron Lockboxes/Silver Keys need to be either cheaper or earned from Treasure Boxes (0.05% Chance to be obtained from any Treasure Box.)

It looks like it's better to just wait out for it to be on the Supply Depot than to purchase accessories anymore. How about some Prismatic Eyes, OOO?!

I wonder if 000s will carry this on. I hope they do. Maybe they plan on getting rid of lockboxes? This new way will definitely cause people to spend real money to get ce fast as not to miss these supply depot sales. They should release the same rare accessory every few months, so merchs can't hold and re sell for big later. And those who miss out can get another chance again later.

Edit: this is a much fair way for everyone and anyone to obtain those rare and hard to get accessories. Thumbs up to 000s.

I disagree sorry. Do you deliberately troll? Sorry I'm getting used to how some of you guys behave on the forum.

I think this is a very fair way for everyone to get these accessories. Now people can grind it out and buy straight, with no hassle. That means so silly bidding that takes items that aren't worth millions of cr to millions of cr. No petty squabbling between seller and buyer. And no more of this nonsense "Spiral Knights is a pay to play game. You need to pay tonnes of really money to get the best looking accessories and costume in the game".

If 000s do this on a regular basis I can see many people including myself coming back to this game. It now gives me something to look forward to.

I know what you are trying to get at. It's kind of obvious. I thought maybe you were playing some childish online word game, so I was baited into ask, how unnecessary of me.

Regardless of what you meant, I still think this is a much better way than lockboxes and featured auction. In my opinion it is fair this way. I hope you're not upset that you lost out on anything. That would be selfish. You're better than that.

@Arcknightdelta: All right,

@Arcknightdelta: All right, I'll explain it.

Somewhere long ago, OOO said something along the lines of how their intention was for accessories to be worth a minimum of 750 CE (the equivalent of a Silver Key). Obviously it is not that way. Other things are extremely high in price as well. I don't think it was OOO original intention for things to get as highly priced as things are now. Key word there is "original." As time has passed, the value of some of those items have increased. The value of things has fluctuated in both directions. But now the standards are high. Hacked Aura (for example) being rare and thus extremely valuable and thus desirable. Now OOO comes along later, and exploits their high value and desirability, and puts them on the Supply Depot at a lower price. People go crazy because suddenly the Hacked Aura is easily obtainable, and not as expensive as it was previously. OOO makes some profit because they are selling Hacked Auras cheaper than the market was previously, yet the price of the Hacked Aura is still highly priced. Originally the Hacked Auras weren't as expensive, but since the market price of them went up, OOO exploited that and made them available again. Cheaper than a few days ago, but more expensive than originally intended.

That's basically a spelled out version of my thought process that lead to my comment.

Hacked aura would be a minimum of 3.5CE, as it was only obtainable via a $9.95 purchase during a specific timeframe with a 1.5% chance from the box during a specific time (except you get 3.5kCE + the box, not lose the CE for the box). I would argue that 15kCE (~4x more) is still cutting it too low for what they could put it up as. The market for the rare item from a chance-based promotion should be (in my opinion) upwards of 30kCE.

I never read in their promotional announcements that they were going to always and forever be a 1-time thing. Notice how its been over a year since you could get 1 of the 40 new items they released.

All in all, a 100% chance for an item will always cost more than a less than 100% chance. Cheaper than a few days ago? Yes, because knights are assuming that promotions are 1-time things. We all know what happens when we assume. More expensive than originally intended? Doubtful.

Additionally, it seems that OOO is placing the "worth" of prize boxes at 2.6kCE along with logging on at a specific time, with the more recent promotions.

The Spiral Knights community has created its own definitions

One example is here, but I see words misused so often I don't know what to say. As Shadownox was saying, trolling does not mean disagree. Trolling is when a person acts to create grief or anger from others because it gives them pleasure. According to the community here, trolling means disagreeing, attention seeking, using not-optimal gear in lockdown (going full proto in tier three is a challenge, not trolling), and is not really put in a negative light. If you are doing or saying malicious things to anger, but not exactly hurt others, then you are being a troll.
Another example of a commonly misused word is "spam". Especially in lockdown, players say "spam" instead of utilize. You are not spamming your hammer, you are utilizing it.

The misuse of these words bothers me more than the actual action.

What is it with some forumers? Me and Not-Hollows were 'discussing' two things we both have different perspectives on. Our banter finished almost 10 hours ago. And I come back to see someone commenting on words we exchanged.

Please don't stir. You know nothing of what was said. And your assumption of what I believe the world troll to be is amusing. At that point I was being sarcastic. Just because I went from 'asking' not 'calling' Not-Hollows a troll in this thread, to responding to Not-Hollows comment on perspective, does not mean that is what I think the word troll means. Read what is said before commenting please. Seeing as you took no active part in our discussion and it ended a while ago, it just looks as though you are holding a big wooden spoon and making stirring motions in mid air.

By the way, who are you? I seem to recall your name from somewhere??? Please remind me.

Edit: I thought I'd be careful seeing as people enjoy posting something aimed at someone but become raged when someone responds back. I have said all the above with no ill intention towards you. I only found it frustrating that someone is trying to 're light the fire' which in my opinion is wrong. So don't do it again. Thanks.

The more you post, the less sensible you become, Arcknightdelta. To me, it looks as if your childlike reasoning is becoming apparent as a defensive mechanism on both this thread and that other one. You are making less and less of a legitimate argument and more of and emotional response geared to trying to make it look like you have won something. I can say the same about you as well. You showed me a link to another argument you recently had with some. Again it was you arguing how 000s are never wrong and they never have to explain themselves. It was a pointless argument as was ours because you literally repeated word for word everything you said to other person.

This was the reason why I left this game in the first place. I don't see how someone can assume something so absurd as Shadownox has then I respond by telling him it was wrong of him to assume it, is a childish response. You say one thing and someone else takes it out of context. You know yourself we were not arguing during our discussion, ok some strong words were exchanged but never did I feel we were getting to a point where either of use would speak out of character.

I have asked you still several times to provide proof on several things you have said. Each time I ask for proof you respond by saying "you could" do it or "maybe it can be done". On all those occasions I have tried to finish the conversions because I felt you had no idea what you were talking about. This discussion was over.

Now whether you know Shadownox or not, I don't care. He really has no say in what we were discussing. If however either of you wish to carry this pointless discussion on where you say 'you will argue that 000s are always right' I'll be happy to respond in game. Otherwise I don't wish to be associated with people who seek attention and wish to cause trouble. I think you need to realise not everyone in game will share the same perspective as you. So don't force what you presume to be right on someone else without expecting them to retaliate.

Ugh, Not-Hollows and Arcknightdelta, the both of you are using bad debate habits that completely undoes the point you're trying to make. There's certain counters to types of people on the internet:

  • A blunt (sometimes rude) response is fine to use against an ignorant, oblivious debater.
  • A neutral, indepth response works well on a debater with a bad attitude provided they have the understanding to get your post
  • A cryptic query response (which can come off as snide) works well on a "thinker" (The type of debater who writes questions and then answers them in the same post)
  • Ignorance works well in any situation except naivety (especially the persistent ones), in which the second argument type is the best
  • A retreat or neutralizing an argument with "agreement to disagreement" works well on anyone who has a great extent of knowledge on a topic, especially if they are snide

Both of you are the debater in the second example, yet you're belittling eachother by using the first example. (I tend to overuse the third one)
Be the mature one and use a neutral and extensive argument: The point of a debate is not to "beat" the other person in an argument, but to convince the readers of your point. Once you've done that, the community will argue for you, leaving you to go do your own thing while the community repeats or adds to what you've said.

What has gone in the beginning was a simple discussion over a voting system that was being suggested by a member of this community. During the discussion Not-Hollows wanted to get me to agree with her that 000s should never have to respond to anyone who is upset about a certain update. The only reason why things escalated was because I can't agree that any company should allow their player base to be left in the dark over why things are the way they are. I brought up the forge as my evidence. Which she refused to answer.

If anyone looks at our discussion, yes I became slightly frustrated because for one, she made no attempt to justify anything she said and two, she takes everything out of context. If you read back I tried to end the discussion because it was going no where. I saw no point in any of what was said.

Edit: Personally I ended the discussion yesterday so there was no reason for Shadownox to comment.

Does Mr. Rickshaw answer to children? We will see. Guns OUT!

I will determine the logical outcome!

Here we have Arch saying this:

We all think Arch started it, and it is his fault, but then this happened:

Not-Hollows:
@Arcknightdelta: You don't even know what the twisted view was, so how could you possibly disagree?

We can see here the "feeding the machine" part. Not-Hollows joined the conflict and tries to contradict without any personal info on Arch.

Then Arch:
Are you seriously this forums troll?

Our discussion that consisted of debating two separate things that had us moving from general to suggestion forums could have been avoided if you hadn't dared challenge me. You know it, I know it, all the kids at home know it.

You truly are as annoying as you look ;)

AT first I thought this was a deliberate attack on how annoying Not-Hollows' profile pic is, but then I saw this at the end: ;)
So I assume he's friendly again.
But then....

Fangel:
One example is here, but I see words misused so often I don't know what to say. As Shadownox was saying, trolling does not mean disagree. The misuse of these words bothers me more than the actual action.

Fangel bothers me. Fangel is not helping the problem, but merely feeding it. I doubt anybody would be happy if this is directed at him/her.

Here we have Arch backing away:
Edit: I thought I'd be careful seeing as people enjoy posting something aimed at someone but become raged when someone responds back. I have said all the above with no ill intention towards you. I only found it frustrating that someone is trying to 're light the fire' which in my opinion is wrong. So don't do it again. Thanks.

Should have ended there, but...

Not-Hollows:

A war is happening, people

After Arch speaks, Hex starts feeding to the problem:
Ugh, Not-Hollows and Arcknightdelta, the both of you are using bad debate habits that completely undoes the point you're trying to make. There's certain counters to types of people on the internet:

An earlier comment said that a couple people were "known for having a hacked aura". Why is that so special? Hacked aura was at one point just like everything else, not extremely rare. Thing is, the actual debate didn't have much movement one way or the other. Arc, I admire your want to become a better person, but your writing style is not exactly accustomed to making sarcastic remarks.
