Okay okay... so Trojan Horses are notoriously known for being a trick and having something inside them. Our trojans look like horses, so I think I'm safe to say that they're a trojan horse too. But... that leaves the question of what's inside them? Or maybe we can use a shell of a trojan to trick the Gremlins?

Who knows?

It's been shown that a spiral knight can transform into a Trojan, or at least partially transform into a Trojan. I suppose that leaves us with two different possibilities;
Trojans don't have anything inside them, and are just a race of stone horse-looking humanoid things that succumbed to whatever it was Arkus was plagued by, near his end.
Or, alternately, they're an assortment of sentient beings, surrounded by shells of stone and grief and anguish, their lives sustained by the crystals on their backs.
Spiral knights seems to be set in a universe with quite a lot of depth, but it's hard to tell, because we don't have very many details.

truth be told.

Alpha squad never entered the core. They decided to don trojan helmets and become Knights of Vanaduke. Based on a true story so no hating.

5 fiends

What's inside a trojan? 5 fiends. One for each leg, one to hold the shield, one to swing the sword, and one to make horse noises in battle.

Ever played Dust? The end was dramatic and cliche the same time.

*FINALLY! An interesting topic! I've been waiting a long time for a nice topic to come out! Thank you, Not-Hollows!

If I was crazy and weird, I would say that crowns and materials are inside trojans. XD

If I was thinking this the scientific way, I would say it would be an organic being that can harness muscles and power beyond comprehension.

If I was just Annilaton, this is my view: In the mission sequence, it says "The Return of Ur". Spiral Knights clearly states that Ur is something like a "super army of fiends and trojans." This I believe is true. It also states that fiends are trying to summon back trojans. But, I doubt that the original trojans were so small. The original trojan must be Maulos-sized. This brings to the fact that Maulos is one of the remaining super soldiers of the army of Ur. I would say that trojans are incredible fiends that harness dark energy and is the front attack position of the battle. It seems a knight can turn into a trojan if he/she uses dark power, or harnesses it, or plunge into a depression so serious that he/she begins to think dark thoughts. One serious example and proof is Arkus. He died in the end, suggesting that trojans still have a chance to turn good again, especially when it says that Arkus' light dies from his eyes and he is all sad and stuff. Go figure.

Your Voltedge isn't safe.

I just pierced through A trojan today! And i noticed that every time the crystal drops out. My idea is that Devilities make a purple crystal that is put into Trojan statues(Trojans were primarily on the knights side.) and those crystals animate the trojans. However, damage that crystal and they die. This also is proven by the fact that pieces of trojan were found with drak crystals with them. Which means devilities want to bring them back the way they bring back trojans but it isn't working.
EDIT: Just saw Mystrian's link and my first sentence makes it really innapropriate now.. Oh god...

Inside the trolljan there is a soul, a soul contained with endless hate, it hate the world, nothing in this world is worth living, everything it ever loved had passed away. Its 5* weapons are unheatable and it can't find radiants. It died in a voilent rage and became a solid statue, the reminiscent of its hate twisted its body and returned back to life. It takes instructions from no one and it kills all that it sees.

I hate this world, my last sancturary, SK, has been corrupted by OOO and SEGA... I have nothing left, I can hear the souls in the air, they are watching me, whispering to me, 'come to the cryptic sancturary...'. I am off friends, I am going to pay a visit to the cryptic sancturary... I have a call to make...

The trojans didn't actually make the horse

They were at war with the greeks (I think, my history mind might be messed up), and were attacked in their sleep. In this sense, the trojans might simply be objects with dark energy swirling around inside them, waiting to burst out and attack unsuspecting individuals. Instead of the insiders crawling out, the insiders use the body to attack.

But to be more accurate, the game already has quite a few pointers to chess, and someone at Three Rings probably was just looking for intimidating words linked to a horse. Does that mean there's anything special inside them? Probably not.

And it only took us seven posts to make certain people feel uncomfortable! Remember to stay safe, kids.

....

Trojans are just normal statues until Devilites stick crystals into them.
As for the Legion of Ur, the crystal animates them as Seerus-Voltedge-breaker said. The Devilites "resurrect" them by placing the crystals in them again as they were inanimate until someone did so.
So unless you guys let the Devilites put the crystals in the Tortodrones, you probably won't fight one >:3

As for historical references, inside a Trojan (horse) is a bunch of soldiers waiting to attack your city at night.

Spectre-Nova salutes.

The Trojans themselves are both the disguise and the surprise. See The Silent Legion and other instances where they masquerade as statues.

Well now.. @Mystrian I like the way you think >)

In case you're all wondering... Mystrian is PARTLY right.. taking into consideration that Trojans like to rush forward in a straight hard line. They also like to smash down on you when you are so unfortunately stunned from that first... er... rush.

The crystal on their backs is probably a containment of the souls inside. The Trojan feeds off of these souls which gives it its energy.

Nuff said.

Trojans are fillld with P2Ps.

Clearly Trojans can't possibly be purely made of stone. Either that or it's just really weak stone. Or perhaps the Blitz Needle can just shoot right through everything unless it's slimy or made of metal. But I figured that Trojans are a combination of those coins you get from killing them and the fiendish drops they, uh, drop. Along with anything else that could possibly be put inside them. Maybe a devilite or two just so they can count as fiends and not constructs. Or the occasional normal/? monsters.

As for the Trojans made from our own knights, it's a knight with a mutated horse head with a giant purple crystal sticking out of their backs. They are also sometimes made of money and bowls of sin because why not?

Oh I get it now! Trojans are the fallen Spiral Knights that spent boat loads of cash on this game to get more energy. As such, more crowns. And then better weapons and armor which is why they wield those over sized purple swords of darkness that explode when they hit the ground. It's why their shields are unbreakable, can stay up forever, and don't reduce movement speed. They can also shield bash infinitely if they so wish because they bribed OOO into letting them do so. Since most players never care for defense unless it's shadow, it means their armor is ripped apart by our more constant weapons but they are highly resistant to shadow weapons. All this combined, they bathe in their own sins and fiendish behavior making them fiend family monsters. Now they are out to kill all of us for not being as pro as them.

<insert witty comment here>

*According to Lore, Devilites summon Trojans for an unknown reason. It'd be safe to assume that Trojans are demonic beings of some kind. Well, they are seeing as they're Fiends.

*The collective species are referred to as the "Legion of Ur".

*They can be found in statue form and when defeated turn into statues.

*The crystal on their back is magenta. The colour is similar to purple Dark Matter which has been known to bring things to life.

My take on it is that Trojans are artificially made and started out life as a statue, mass-sculpted by a long-dead civilisation from stone. A crystal (possibly Dark Matter containing the soul(s) of a deceased warrior) is embedded into their backs to bring them to life. The more powerful/evil the soul, the stronger the Trojan becomes. Maybe the civilisation could've done this to raise an army for some reason? The Trojans could then have been banished by a sorcerer to another plane of existance, but Devilites have found a way to summon them back - but takes a great deal of energy and time to perform the ritual to do so.

Yeah I started making this up as I went along. Trojans are my favourite monster.
