Stop posting screenshots of you in first place or the most damage on the SK game hub on Steam. You are only [accidentally] showing more proof that LD kills => (more than or equally as much) brain cells than Demoman's melee weapon.
Thank you.

Scoreboard is pretty bad at capturing (no pun intended) what really wins games.
In terms of those 3 stats (caps/defends/damage), Caps are a starting point (only because they're necessary for the one true winning stat: defends), Defends are the meat of the victory, and Damage should come as a sideeffect of defending.
When you see a game where someone has a lot of caps, it means that person's team has consistently failed to defend points and that poor person has had to go and recapture the points over and over again. It's a sign of either aggressive decapping by the other team or defense failure by the winning team.
----
Unfortunately, the things that aren't counted are also rather important too.
You can prevent enemy capture by:
- defending points (that is, they've reached the point and you've killed them while they were on it)
- preventing a full capture (they've decapped the point but you've killed them before they could finish)
- preventing them from reaching the point altogether (spawncamping, killing them while they're between points, etc)
In the latter two, a 'defend' is not counted at all statwise, but it reaches the same effect of preventing them from gaining points.
Similarly to caps, 'decapping' (removing enemy control of a point) is especially important for say, extending the game so your team can make a comeback. This is how amazing turnarounds can happen (ex: a team has 483 points vs a team with 400 points and 1:30 to go, some recons/strikers decap points and prevent the winning team from recapping while their teammates take control). They're completely ignored in the endgame stats.
A former self would have been totally with you on the whole "DAMAGE ISN'T EVERYTHING, CAPS ARE!", but then y'know, experience happened.
Much damage =/= skilled.
But skilled players do much damage.
Inb4 "LD is unbalanced and not all about skill because you use your own UV'd sets argument"
Cash for epeen, damn I like the sound of that. :3
Let them post, hiss. Lockdown is but a facet of the game. If someone wants to pour their heart and soul into something, who are we to tell them not to, hiss?
I suck at the PvP aspect of Lockdown, but when I play I seem to always get the most captures. You'd think people don't know how to prioritise capturing points in a "capture point" game.
Seiran is spot on with defends and decaps which win games. There are several scenarios when it is better to decap 2 points than fully cap 1. Suffocating enemy point generation is a strong play that wins close games and leads to mighty comebacks.
Stalling (ie. guardian tank bombers, baiting gunners) is also an effective tactic -- but it can work against you too. Stalling increases the point gap between teams based on whatever CPs are held, so if you are stalling while the enemy has the cap advantage you are only doing them a favor.
But sometimes it is just fun to hack and slash and practice dueling for fun. It is a courtesy to cap if you just happen to be by an unguarded point after winning a duel, though. (Or at least have the decency to decap.)
Caps caps caps. Keep doing them. Just don't equip anything at all and go striker. Scare the **** out of them Twenty Ones.\
Cool down guys and watch this to laugh to death: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enOHraf3LEk
Hey man, I remember being so pumped when I got over 10k damage as a Recon Swordsman (This was back before the patch that dramatically lengthened the duration of each Lockdown match). It was something I was proud of and wanted to remember. It's not my fault steam is also proud of me and wants the world to know.
Hello there...
1. its OUR screenshots folder, we can post what we like if it fits ToS.
2. not every lder does this.
3. its not always about dmg = skill, i aim for dmg + caps with a defend while having fun, and making rivals.
4. got a problem w/ it, ignore them then, and stop ruining our fun!

I don't dislike them either, but if you like your score you can take a screenshot without posting it on Steam. If you're using the screenshot as bragging rights, that's fine, but please don't take one every match. Looking at scoreboards is a whole lot of boring.
Playing PvP is fine. Doing well in PvP is fine. Taking a screenshot because you're proud is okay. Uploading twenty-eight scoreboards consecutively is okay, but you should consider not pressing that key all the time, unless you are doing it for science.
Caps win the game, it's the goal of the game, pretty much it. Defends show how glued you are to the hud and shows what tryhard spirit you have. Damage is just a way to show people "lol im bettur then u u suk look at mah dmg", and is mainly used for ego boosting.
/me takes a bow
Everytime I read one of your posts, it kills 10x more brain cells then playing Lockdown does..
@Gianor
Capping doesn't win the game. Sure, you need to cap a little bit to win, but defending (as Seiran pointed out) is far, far more crucial to winning.
I don't necessarily play LD, as it is not in my area of expertise, but it is nice to see how my friends are doing in their own campaigns toward LD success. There is, however, a point at which I will begin to dislike such screenshots if they are frequent, like if they're posted every day. It just gets annoying. I prefer to see sparse highlights here and there, instead of "today's victory" posted every day. It helps me to appreciate LD a bit more than I normally would. But yeah, if I see a post with "OMGLOL look guyz at my awsum victoreeeeeeee" it kind of kills the moment and the feels. :P

@everybody who thinks caps > damage
it's not. Sure, caps are how you get points and how you win games, but there's no way you're gonna control the caps without killing people. It's that simple. They're both important.
guess what:
I win 70% of my matches.
i cap a LOT and get little dmg.
i am a bomber.
bombing is AWESOME!
Xtweeterx, just send this thread to the graveyard to avoid all the hate directed at you. The thread was quite pointless anyway. :P
Can I say something?
In the last year, I have NEVER been confronted for my abysmal damage (ranging from 500 to 3000 in tier 3 games) and I don't usually get a lot of caps.
Easy. Do no weapons, and do a class that caps like a maniac. That's how you truly scare pros.
Its Caps > Dmg
You try to get alot of caps while not trying to get any damage at all whatsoever.
Thats how you truly scare the **** out of em pros.
