Im a bomber planning to go through the shadow lair to get a merc demo set once I have all the necessary items, however i've never been through one and would like to know what to bring to get through.

I currently use the mad bomber set (don't criticize, please... I am well aware that the chaos set is better...), I use mostly bombs but I do have a CIV and also have a boltbrand, I have a nitro and a crusher as my 5* bombs atm and most of my other bombs that I use on a regular basis are 4*.

so any suggestions on what to bring into the shadow lair are appreciated.

Check the wiki for a few pointers

It will give you a basic idea of the place. Also, which shadow lair are you planning on going on? Depending on the lair, certain sets will prove better. Also, how often do you take damage? Any insights to your playstyle will help.

I have no mouth and I need to scream

Hey there.

Currently the set you have that you want to use going through practically any shadow lair is...mad. Crazy. Every single one of them have status enemies that will make you regret ever using it. But fear not! The two of the easiest are Ice queen and Snarbalophogus. The set you have now resists elemental damage for Shadow roamulus but I don't know if you'll like fire and shock on your mad bomber set...seriously, there's a lot of it there.

You mind expanding a bit more on what bombs? A DBB (Dark briar barrage) is excellent for shadow snarbolax lair. It's 4* Might be fine too. Other than that, the crusher and nitro will be perfect for Ice queen. You just need to learn how to dodge if you're realllly going to use mad bomber. And if you live, I tip my hat off to you.

Searching youtube videos will certainly help you as well if you're serious about this. Just search the name you want and you're set. Also, don't solo if its your first time. Bring some experienced players with you. one - two are fine.

The mad bombers status problem is easy to avoid, use the 4star set you will make into mercurial demo.

Mad bomber set = 1 minute

Mad bomber set = 1 minute curse on all weps/pickups. I am making a second chaos cloak with curse max for this very reason.

hmmm...

well, unfortunately, I'd be going through red roar... I need to grab some gremlonium before the sanctuary and its too expensive to buy off the AH, I already got one from a friend so I just need one and I plan to make sure I have everything else I need before I go through so I can make the gear in the first run through. also I plan to go through it with 3 other guildies who are all 5* and have experience with shadow lairs so I have good back up.

as far as my play style goes I prefer support mostly so I almost always have a haze type bomb with me and I plan to get a wep slot for the lair so I can bring 2 bombs and my CIV for back up if I get mobbed. I talked to a friend who is experienced with bombs and he suggested I bring a venom veiler for the menders. also, I will have a grey owlite shield with me, so ill have some good status resistance.

as far as avoiding damage goes when I use my haze bombs i'm great at avoiding damage so thats part of the reason I plan to use haze bombs.

Shadow Lair

Twins as a bomber you say?

A Graviton Vortex or Obsidian Crusher could be good choice to support your teammates. If you don't have any of those two Shivermist Buster will work as a crowd controlling weapon too. Yes, Venom Veiler definately helps with menders. Stagger Storm can be used to slow things down.

You don't have to restrict yourself only to supportive role. Dark Retribution can clear not only mobs but all these annoying rockets that are all over the place. You got to be careful though, you better not drop it around switches, for obvious reason. Dark Briar Barrage is another viable option for damage dealing, you can knock down and lock in place all Gremlins - which is helpful against Menders (again) and Demos which tend to be worst problem among this family. You can also go with Nitronome(or other bombs from Blast Bomb's line) as long as your teammates are ok with it and you will use it to keep monsters glued to walls, in bigger rooms Nitronome will just make things fly everywhere, similar to Pulsars. Deadly Crystal/Dark Matter Bomb is a bit safier choice than Nitronome with minor knockback and decent damage.

Volcanic Demo set seems to be safiest choice, Grey Feather even better if you have CTR UVs on your bombs, otherwise sticking with 4* Heavy Demo set (you're going to turn into Mercurial Demo) will provide better status protection than Mad Bomber. If you can avoid getting shocked&set up on fire then you can go with Mad Bomber.

Watching a Ultimate Ironclaw Munitions Factory videos on YouTube is good idea, knowing spawning patterns/places is huge help for bombers (and other players too, of course) since you'll know which bomb you should use and where you should put it before monsters spawn, giving you and your team big advantage.

Personally I'd take:
- Mad Bomber set
- Damage Med+Heart Pendant
- 1st slot: Dark Retribution
- 2nd: Shivermist Buster
- *3rd: Obsidian Crusher/Venom Veiler
- *4th: Any bomb that I mentioned above

Advice

Don't use mad bomber/chaos in RRT. There's way too much shock which is beyond lethal for bombers. If you're bringing 2 haze type bombs, I would suggest shiver (or stagger) and venom. For some of the areas, nitronome may be more useful than taking venom to keep turrets stunned/safe spots for allies.

Since you have never done SLs before, I would suggest going with some experienced people that know the rooms and can describe them as you go through for tips/tricks. Very few people make it through their first SL without using 10+ SoLs. Most "good" players still use 2-5 per run anyway. Be prepared for a difficulty increase compared to the normal clockworks.

I went looking for shadow

I went looking for shadow lair videos, and I did notice that there aren't many that I could find done since the pets update, which changes things quite a bit in the way of tactics. Haven't been able to find any with parties with bombers in them either really. They still work for knowing the spawns though.

P.S. With Enfeebler's advice, which doesn't mention a sprite perk, you could add MSI, CTR for bombs if your 5* ones that aren't fully heated, or shock resistance. If you have maskeraith, poison quills might be able to make do in place of taking a poison weapon.

You should really get a Shiver for Red Roarmulus. It's so useful for just controlling the jellies alone. Oilers are common, and if you leave them unchecked, a single ember can ignite an entire party, engulfing large amounts of the already crowded area in flames. Quicksilvers are just random, unpredictable, and painful. In both cases, locking them down will really help your party, especially when they're constantly respawning.

I remember a friend of mine suggesting the Dark Retribution. I know there is one particularly painful room that is made FAR easier with the DR, because there is a switch that needs to be constantly flipped in order to shut down half of the hazards of the room. It's good in general just because it does a lot of continuous damage, but it can make switches an absolute pain if you mis-place one.

Other than that, pick up whatever other items you'd bring for a normal Roarmulus Run.
