Hi I am a teenager who likes to play spiral knights.
I started spiral knights at 5 years old and only in this year (2013) have they added A Name Change Pass. At first I was excited, but when i checked the price... Well lets just say it was overpriced. And by that i mean very overpriced. 3500 Energy to change your name is pretty shocking. All other games i have played let you change your name for free. But here i am told to pay 10 dollars to change my bloody name. My IGN is "Iwillbeatyouup" A name which i created at 5 years old and i thought it was pretty cool back then. but now i realise what a horrible name it is. I really want to change it or else guilds will decline me and i will get kicked from parties which has already happened a few times actually.

I really wish that everyone can see this post and that devs pay extra attention to this. I am a normal teenager who dosent have a shitload of money and i dont want to use my money on this. Please dont post: "Why didnt you create a better name in the first place" because i was 5 back then and had no brain so dont bother with those comments because it dosent help at all. If people agree with me please post it below so i know im not the only one stranded on an island with nowhere to go.

Developers please seriously consider this as frankly, i believe, that you devs have a lot of money made from this game and aint poor at all and to me this seems a bit greedy. I have asked other Game Masters but they all say they cant give me a free pass. And i understand them, they have to be fair to everyone. So developers please take your time reading this and please reply if you can.

Kind Regards
Iwillbeatyouup

Well.

Changing your name is more of a luxury than something that most can do whenever they want. You can always start a new knight and transfer over your stuff, or try saving up.

Also, how old do you consider to be a teenager? :x

Actually.

Not gonna lie, I'd be pretty intimidated if some guy named "Iwillbeatyouup" joined my LD game or my party in general.

I make you black, bluue and red all over

Lol, I thought I was the only one with the age thing.

And as for the OP, you know you don't have to use real money to buy the pass. just save up your CE from in-game currency (crowns) to buy it. People need to realize that almost everything in this game can be bought for free now, just play the game and save up. Only reason people use real money is because they are either impatient or rich IRL.

Hm

I think the OP means that he created the name when he was 5 years old and used it for games and etc ever since.

...or not, and he could just be mistaken and throwing random numbers around.

Anyway, you should save up some crowns playing the game. Try to host if you can so people won't roll eyes at your name and kick you. Convert profits to CE and change your name, or just go to your local Gamespot and get a $20 card to add to your steam account (if you're using steam at all). And honestly, OOO is pretty lenient with the price of name change. You at least get to keep 3k of that 7.5k CE you use here to use on other goodies.

Some games I know requires you pay a full $20 for that treatment, I can't say I've heard of any MMO that allows you to change your name ever so freely, that would be pretty abusive unless the GMs keep logs.

Please name those games you said you can change your name for free. so i can see "what kind of game" they are.

Because if they were rich as you said probably we would have more content in game and not just waiting a whole year or half year to have great content to play, also if they were rich probably OOO team would be bigger, but no, they are small team. even we dont have good servers to play with it. they give us promo everytimes because they need the money, also most of the money goes to pay: members of their development team, the GM team, and probably the one that get most of the money: the payment of the server. they have a good life? yeah, but i dont think they are rich. greedy? i dont know if you know that you need to invest money in your business to keep running it. OOO business is this game (as well their other games).

the game now have free elevators, you can get many crowns as you want on any level you wish, so if some levels are hard for you you can try on levels that you can go trough them easily even in elite mode, you only need patience. trade those crowns for energy and in no time you will have enough CE for a Name Change Ticket

Really?

Honestly, RuneScape is the only MMO I can even think of that lets you change your name for free. Could you please tell me what you play?

A popular Sony game

FreeRealms allowed name changes for free before.

Utreix, the iridescent, deleted his character, and he requested it back. GMs keep names upon deletion for an extra month until they discard the character.

I'm pretty sure only members can change their name, F2P players can't.

Now that you mention it, you're right. So never mind RuneScape having free name changes. >_>

@Hexzyle: Everything is better in the beginning.

RS USED to have name changes for free. However, due to the rapid requests, they allowed members to change names only.

Everything hasn't been abused in the beginning. There's also a lack of drama queens.

Remember the days when you could discipline a child without worrying about people calling the CPS?
When you could smoke just about anywhere? (Okay, this one is pretty obvious why it was changed)
When being in possession of loli manga didn't invoke the wrath of the FBI? (Wait, why is this example here???)

Firstly, TF2, CS:GO and COD aren't MMOs.
Secondly, The latter two aren't even F2P, and the former is a commercial game that was converted into a F2P game in order to bring in more business.
Thirdly, all Valve games are managed under the one account manager, so technically it's only one game. You basically only listed one example. A single multimillion dollar conglomerate as your example. That all you got?
