Imp'z Comprehensive Armor Guide: How to best protect from the worst monsters!

This guide is made solely to help inform all players of monster damage and how to best defend against them. This guide is based on facts take. Directly from the Wiki, if there is a mistake just let me know so we can resolve it. The armor that I select are based on facts but chosen with my logic and slight opinions.

MONSTERS
(and their damage type)
[NOTE: All the data is based on the T3 version of the monsters]

Beasts

Beasts resist elemental damage and are weak to piercing damage.

Includes:
Chromalisk
Wolver
Dust Bunny
Snarbolax (Boss)
Rabid Snarbolax (Boss)

Beasts deal Piercing Damage.
Many beasts that you will encounter (in T3 of course) have may also cause a status effect as well as the piercing base damage.)

Beast: None
Dragon Scale Helm
Radiant Silvermail.

Beast: Fire
Dragon Scale Mail
Dragon Scale Helm

Beast: Shock
Mercurial Mail
Mercurial Helm

Beast: Freeze
Ice Queen Mail
Ice Queen Crown
*Skolver Coat and Cap will work, but with 4.66 piercing defense less than Ice Queen.*

Beast: Poison
Dragon Scale Mail
Dragon Scale Helm

*Note. This is only 1/6 of the full page I plan to have. Part one covers Beasts, an part two will cover Constructs.
I DO actually have a life(mainly dedicated to basketball and studying for Finals) but I will have the next part posted as soon as I can! Please, if you leave critisim, please explain why you think that and how I can fix it!

?

I don't know what the heading "Beast: Normal" means. And why does it involve armor with no normal protection?

@Bopp

The heading Beast: Normal refers to the type of monster(beast) and if they inflict a status effect(normal)
I guess I could have put none instead. Yeah I'll edit it now. Thanks @Bopp :)

I wonder why you're recommending Dragon Scale Mail for Beast/Poison but Radiant Silvermail for Beast/None. Does Radiant Silvermail have more piercing defense? And if so, wouldn't it be better for Poison too (since it has max poison resist)

Most beast attacks do normal & piercing even in T3 so normal defense would help here. Although, slimes usually hit with their pure piercing attacks. That could be one way to differentiate them if you're making one for each family.

So you might want to use Skolver anyway for Beast/Freeze but Ice Queen set for Slime/Freeze.

Assuming, of course, one is concerned only with defense.

DSM and RSM have the exact same piercing defense. I chose DSM over RSM because even though both have equal poison resist, if you are fighting beasts, you will 99.99% be using a piercing weapon, not a Gran Faust. So that Curse Resist is useless. The fire resist Is helpful, because there are many ways to catch fire I. The clockworks, but only one way to become cursed, and that is by usin the GF. But like I stated, it's ultimately my opinion when two armor pieces have the same stats to pick which one would logically be better suited for that situation.

Forgot.

Another part of why I favored DSM over RSM is because of the Damage Bonus VS Beast Medium on each piece of DSM. I was trying to leave out any bonuses and extra status resists that ha no effect on that specific example.( for example Beast: Fire if I ha e two armor pieces, A and B, both resist the same amount of piercing and fire, but A has extra Poison and B has extra Stun, they would be the EXACT same.)

But yes, if you are concerned about PURE defensive stats, they are exactly the same when dealing with Beast: None and Beast: Poison.

P.S. I typed this on my iPod, so pardon the 'if' instead of 'of' or any other mistakes like that. Although plz point them out so I can edit them.

strategic question

This is a question about the strategy of your guide. I hope that you find it constructive.

Your guide seems to be organized by monster and status threat. Do you expect players to get many pieces of armor, to counter each of these threats? We're talking 42 combinations here (six monster families, six statuses plus no-status). Is this how you play the game? Don't you just choose armor based on its offensive capability, then its status defense, then its damage defense?

ooo oooo

If you're suggesting anything for T1, I got the best armor covered!
~ANCIENT PLATE FTW~

Um... uh... I agree with Bopp, who actually gets this many armors pieces?
My critique:
A guide like this has minimal use, unless someone comes here with the mind to protect themselves from a certain type of situation and this would provide that solution. The defensive aspect of this game is not significant enough to warrant having different armor sets for defensive capabilities. At most, in T3, you can survive a couple more hits, unless you have trinkets or UVs to further boost your defence. As we also have "sonic mode", in which players can survive greater damage that would normally kill a player, but the player is only reduced to 1 pip of health, there isn't much reason for having the correct defensive loadout.

Not finished.....

As you all know this is part one of at least six. Once I get all the monster types Down, I am going to be taking a look at some of the more common levels, such as Wolver dens and graveyards. This guide is far from being completed

@Zeddy I know that you probably know, but with negative status resist the status not only lasts longer, but you take less damage from it? I think that OOO did a good job on that:3

*****Update*****

I have decided to change the guide around. thanks to the brillant post by @Qwez. instead of posting about super specific monsters and their damage type, i have decided to make a new guide, focusing mainly on all possible levels in (T3) the clockworks. This will serve a wider range, and help more people!

TO THE GRAVEYARD, BOYS!!!!!!
