I went with the Explosive Firestorm and Scorching Barrier... lol opposite of Flowchart.
Scorching Barrier is fun to charge into enemies with. Though I may be that guy who runs into FSC with a full set of Mercurial instead of my Perfect Mask of Seerus and Armor of the Fallen, I'm really enjoying the Scorching Barrier. Backfire Barrier only has ~2-3 seconds of LD striker boost, and the cast time is not instantaneous like Maskeraith's cloak. Also, I felt that since I have Dashing ability, no need to go for 2-3 seconds of speed boost. I live for speed, but not short bits of speed .-.
I chose Explosive Firestorm for being able to support and deal damage if I brought crappy weapons and I need some crowd damage. I don't know how the Damage and Speed will really help when most people charge-spam, so that's why I didn't choose to go for Frenzied.

I went with frenzied and backfire as well, though haven't spent any excessive amount of time with either of them, so these are just immediate impressions.
Backfire will make you run incredibly quickly, and has a handful of uses... like charging enemies and unleashing charge attacks onto them, or running through crowds to drop a bomb+potentially light everything on fire. This can be devastating if done correctly.
Frenzied will buff your party and allows you to deal heavier damage with your swords and guns. The party buff can be extremely powerful, as the best defense is often a good offense. Imagine using it as soon as your friend unleashes heart attack- ensuring that the maximum number of hearts are gleaned from the assault. Or, you could simply use it for a more supportive version of crowd control when you lack it.

Frenzied. Scorching.
The Frenzied Firestorm has one incredibly point:
It doesn't matter if enemies don't catch on fire - as long as they're in the blaze you have a chance to get buffed.
This means that in FSC you can unleash a Firestorm and get like a 10 second attack and speed buff, which is great for Brandish and Blitz users.
Frenzied Firestorm is more useful than the other one since it gives the whole party some buffs, but it comes at the price of having those stupid looking arms. It's probably the skill I use most with my Drakon.
For Barrier, opinions seem to be divided since it's one of the few ultimates where both choices are useful. So you want to decide whether you want to have your Drakon actually do damage, or just keep it as support.
I went with Backfire Barrier myself, since I usually use Frenzied Firestorm when fighting I can use Backfire when not fighting to run through areas quicker. But some people like using Scorching to run into enemies with.
