I take absolute interest in this thread. OMGMAGICKZIWANTKTHXBYE
Just kidding.

According to Nick, Owlites do perform magick. However, many simple people in the past perceived that technology is in fact magic. So...could the owlites be using a form of technology? However, we can see that being overridden. Why? Because of the candles. The candles keep the Grimalkins away. So....therefore could Owlites still perform magic? Yes. HOWEVER. We can assume that the candles are not magic, but merely another smart piece of technology. The candle's wax could have some kind of substance that can make the Grimalkins stay away. So could it still be technology? Yes. But, we see another piece that can counter that. When holding a Candle Lighter Orb, it is floating. Does that mean it is magic? Yes! But then, one can always say that the Orbs have hovering technology. But....then. All the evidence presented about the Black Kats and the other Academies STILL suggest that the Owlites used magic and are magical.
SO MANY PEOPLE NINJAED ME! But, first: This is SK. Magic exists.
I thought of that as soon as I posted, but yes xD Science and magic are intertwined, so to speak. Before we could explain the solar system and day and night, we (humans) most likely thought it was a form of magic.
There's Owlites and their candles and strange embers, and then factor in those Sprites from FSC and the strange water pots (OMG8DAMAGESOOPNERFNAO). Not sure if there's magic. I hope they don't introduce that.
Random Messenger Cannon Fodder: Hahn, Spiral HQ ha-

RMCF: NO. You see Hahn we-

RMCF: THERE IS MAGI-
Hahn: I see.
RMCF: So, can I go no-
Hahn: First, tell me who the magistrate is.
Another funny dialogue from Potato. It is pretty strange with all the embers and water pots.
It is not magic, but simply............

"Magic."
What, the hordes of undead eternally on fire for thousands of years didn't tip you off to this?
Once you see a Gremlin take a shock explosion to the face with no injuries, you start to kinda not debate those semantics.
I think all the enemies are masochistic, because pain is awesome, ain't it?
THIS IS SPIRAL KNIGHTS. THERE IS NO PHYSICS. THERE IS MAGIC. THERE IS DARK ENERGY. THERE IS TECHNOLOGY.
What, the hordes of undead eternally on fire for thousands of years didn't tip you off to this?
Magic ≠ Spiritual Energy
There are deities in this game, and frequent dimension crossing, but that doesn't necessarily signify magic exists...
There's miracles, and then there's magic. The difference is the former is a direct act of a almighty deity or a god, the latter is a power that can be drawn from people or objects.
At least, that's my interpretation.
...Magic is pretty much a kind of energy some entities have the ability to "tap" into, thereby accessing it at the cost of being a nerd, some mental effort, and forever alone.
._.
IMO, Magic = Advanced Tech beyond out current tech or Advanced Energy manipulation.
Magic definitely exists in this game. Hahn calls it 'science we just don't understand yet'.
One of Arthur C. Clarke's quotes is "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic".
This is likely a jab at that exact quote.
Hahn does fit into the 'scientist' archetype, anyway.
Yes. His description I HAVE to agree to. Advanced energy manipulation. This is excellent. Magic was never magic, it was just energy manipulation. Not technology either.
Would you consider alchemy (just a thought, because of the fiends' circles of signs and whatnot) to be science, magic, or both? Would it be possible the fiends use some weird type of alchemy?
Devilite technology far outstrips our own, not only in advancement, but also in variation.
Their control of the space-time continuum seems to be at such a level in which they can literally use the very fabric of the universe as ink for their drawings of diabolical design. Their understanding of it, however, seems less so. The devilites are far more lucky (or rather, prosperous off of the unluckiness of their victims) than they are intelligent, cooperative, or organised.
Be thankful that their entire socially-degenerated race has dedicated their time to pen-pushing instead of military training.
Hex, contradiction. Devilite techno? Fat chance. They have dark magic.
If you try and contradict me on how magic DOES NOT EXIST, first answer these stuff without any WEAK answers:
1. Dark Sigils on the floor.
2.Summoning the Legion of Ur.
3.How trojans are so big and how knights become trojans.
4.Literally mission descriptions that says the devilites are using dark forms of magic.
5.Literally "Crest of Ur" that reads how you can still hear the echoes of hooves of the original army.
6.Explain devilites and their sudden transformation into Overtimers as well as insta-heal when they get a "Sunday workout".
The description of the Grey Owlite Shield is: A resplendent replica of the shield thought to have been issued to the most eminent of Owlite wizards. Wielding it fills you with righteous vengeance.
It mentions wizards, so I'd assume there was at least one Owlite wizard?
But there's also the "Magic" set, and I've always wondered if sprites use magic, not science.
