Love Puppy Farming: Let's get the facts!

This thread has gained a bit of attention, so I figured I'd make it more into a discussion than a question.

My idea: When a Love Puppy is found, one player of the party leaves, then the rest of the party kills the puppy, then the rest of the party joins the player who left, then one player leaves again, rest of the party kills the puppy, players join the player who left, and so on and so forth.

Other's ideas: At Heart of Ice or another location where gun puppies respawn, farm the Love Puppies that occasionally appear.

The question: Is this or any other Love Puppy Farming (True Love Locket Farming) possible?

What we know:

  • It is possible to leave and have the rest of the party join you later on, but this only works once. After the first time, the party gets locked up.
  • Love Puppies can appear on puppy respawners.

What we need to find out:

  • Can Love Puppies on respawners drop trinkets?
  • Does a Love Puppy change into a different gun puppy when you leave the lobby?
  • Can a Love Puppy other than the original (the one generated after a player has left the lobby) drop a trinket?

Opinionated Question: If either of these methods work, are they an affective form of making money and/or retrieving 2 True Love Lockets for personal use?

Uhh.

I'm probably wrong, but I'm pretty sure that it turns into a regular Gun Puppy/Howlitzer if you leave the party that it's in.

Out of my 3 years of playing

Out of my 3 years of playing I have never experimented with them although I have thought about it numerous times.

You can farm them anywhere a respawning turret appears. A good place for this would probably be Heart of Ice. Operation Crimson Hammer wouldn't work very well because the puppies don't spawn in a place you can walk to.

I have absolutely no idea whether it works or not, but the party *should* freeze up due to people joining/leaving it.

When you go solo it doesnt

When you go solo it doesnt lock up a slot, but does going solo make it so you cant rejoin that party?

Would you like to kill somewhere on the order of an indefinite number of turrets to find out, Mushy? I do know however, that they can spawn as love puppies.

Infinite Spawns

For some reason I doubt they'd drop anything other than hearts. Judging by any other infinite spawn monster, that's all they will drop.

That being said, I haven't gotten a love trinket from any of the 20+ I've encountered in my game time.

With the changes to the loot distribution (everyone sees different loot), you are actually more likely to get trinkets in larger parties. My guild mate got a true love trinket from a love puppy someone else killed.

.

I can confirm that you can get trinkets from love puppy's on respawning pads. I got a true love locket from a love puppy on Heart of Ice elite mode in a random party of 4. Right after the 7/30 update

I checked my screenshots though and I thought I had one, but I don't so its a matter of if you choose to believe me or not. I promise I'm telling the truth though.

^That last sentence makes you

^That last sentence makes you sound even more suspicious.

I want to see if a spawning love puppy drops anything good. Or at all.

Time to go sit next to a pad with Brandish and GF.

So the other day I had 15 love puppies spawn in a row on heart pads, and all of them gave me true love lockets.

I don't have screenshots because I forgot to get proof of this event happening. Also I destroyed all evidence that it happened, made everyone in my party sign a privacy waiver, and it didn't happen.

If you are going to farm for love puppies on a pad, I'd recommend getting Polaris to do the killing.

But then it'd be no fun.
