Anyone remember the elevator pass from SK's past well this is basically the same thing. For a set time when weapons reach their required heat to level up they do so without the use of fire crystals

*hides and leaves a sign behind himself saying, "Judge!" *

A "crystal pass" might be a better name

Maybe fire crystal, but yeah. I disagree on automatic level ups, but having rarities move backwards one stratum would be nice. And since loot is instanced anyways, only you could benefit.

Granted if Three Rings fixes the lack of radiants, this item would be sort of useless.

Pay to avoid the chance of receiving forge prize boxes?

Why would leveling up being automatic prevent prize boxes? Maybe each level up could show some NPC knights forging it for you, or something. Or the pass could be in the form of some chunk of super flammable material, that can simply keep the forge running at 100% for a month.

With either of these ways, the forge is still there to give out boxes, and the player doesn't have to pay the fire crystals.

Oh, I imagined the idea was to return to the pre-forge style continuous heating system.
If you mean a crystal tax dodge, it might be possible to merge it with heat amps.
