An apology and a note to balance freaks

Go to the end of this post if you don't want to read. Though I'd think you would if you are on a forums!

On day, I thought this:

"Oh, the Dota 2 players are both lucky and spoiled. They got what they wanted after complaining everyone's ears off!"

Then...

"Hmm...if only that would work for Shard Bombs and Acheron. No one has tried it before..."

Within a half hour, I get kicked from the server by a GM. "Spam" sums up the time between when I got that silly idea and when I got kicked. I won't delve further than that. Anyone who was there during the spam, I humbly apologize.

Now onto what I have to say to the people who say the game is unbalanced... (which includes me, even now) What follows wasn't something which any GMs told me, mind you.

OOO is concerned with what the entire player base thinks. The forum base is, as a matter of fact, a minority, albeit a rather vocal minority. I found this out when I got several people telling be that Acheron was balanced when you compare it with the Gran Faust. Although I didn't get to put forth all the arguments of its imbalance (when comparing it with all the other weapons of the game, for example), they were still sure that curse and knock back made it equal. (Or at least the imbalance as acceptable.)

In other words, even if I could crack Vanaduke with one blow of some weapon, as long as the community as a whole thinks it is fine, then so be it. The only way OOO makes changes is when there is when there is a very large majority who agrees with the change. Even if that is the case on some things, maybe they don't even know of the majority? What if this majority is very quiet?

All said, if you had the best reasons in the world, it's still one thing: Mob Rule (With some rare exceptions. See the guild hall update, which just forumers really saw and talked about. Also see UI 2.0, which was massively disliked.)

Of course, I'm not saying mob rule is a bad rule! It means that a lot of people will be happier most of the time! It's just that it's rough on the minority. If you don't want to be the current majority, yet you still want to have a good chance of your suggestions and stuff happening, talk to the people of the game. Get opinions, and possibly persuade people to your ideas. It's a lot more work, but it could pay off.

Why don't I do it? Because I'm too busy with other stuff!

So the elite end-game veterans don't make up the majority of the game after all. :|

Many people don't know what they want. It's like voting, gotta have an educated population or else the votes won't help everyone.

I mean the majority doesn't know what they want and the well educated want things that might not benefit everyone. Is there a solution to this vagueness or should we focus on the specifics, like the acheron buff? I know for a fact some people might actually support the buff because they do not fully understand the mechanics, or maybe . . . . . the veterans are the ones who do not understand? idk

An mmo with a voting system, whoa :| too bad alt accounts and stuff, but they could narrow it down to knight elites and up. (Yeah people have alts and can get to knight elite pretty quickly, but still. And guild votes, but still would be an interesting event) Oh we could vote for positions and al- off track here.

Meh I also think the makers sort of just do whatever they think is best and sometimes look at the feedback. Now how they interpret it is unknown. Or perhaps sometimes things are so subjective they can never truly be decided on. But then majority comes in to solve that problem. Wait. What.

Do things make sense? Ever? :|

Edit: for example one could argue (ignoring LD) the acheron buff was hardly a big deal. Sure it does more damage than it should when you compare it to flourish and calibur. However, if you think about it, one could argue that flourish has a wide first swing and a higher attack speed mixed with it's dashing combo. Calibur is super cheap with massive 360 knockback These give it its own benefits.
This would then bring in the argument about how all weapons should be equal usefulness, which is pretty much never the case ever. Maybe the weapons, and gear for that matter, are not supposed to be balanced. One could even argue that in LD acheron is harder to aim than flourish and GF and is therefore balanced in LD. I guess the makers are the judge of this no matter how right we think we are. It would be hard to convince the majority to speak up and voice their opinion on this topic.

I WOULD say something as a

I WOULD say something as a joke to this to balance freaks, but I don't wanna get banned for personal attacks, so I'm not gonna do that.

Either way, this is good.

@Glowupball

Well, personally I think they do need to hold more polls/surveys.

I don't know how you could make a joke about 'balance freaks' without looking silly.

The 'majority' likes the acheron buff because it makes a weapon insanely overpowered. The 'majority' doesn't give a **** about balance. If you buffed every weapon in the game to 200% its normal damage the 'majority' would love it.

@Anti-Danger

Sadly, I have a feeling you're right.

Though at the same time, I don't know what their preferences are. I don't know how many people prefer challenge.
