Does anyone happen to know when the next expansion is comming out? We really need some more content because honestly, there just isnt enough equipment in this game to sustain it.
New arsenal expansion?
You damn kids need to learn some patience.
It's a virtue, you know?
I don't think the problem is that everyone uses the same few swords. I see Dread Venom Strikers, Brandish series, Leviathan, Cold Iron, Gran Faust, Divine Avenger... the only 5* swords I don't see that often are Fang of Vog, Wild Hunting Blade and, surprisingly, the Flourish series.
...The Flourish series was, of course, half the focus of the previous arsenal expansion... they're actually quite good. More folks should give 'em a chance. It's rather a shame that they were put into the game so recently yet they're still so widely ignored.
I don't think the issue is that "everyone is using the same few swords" when almost all 5* swords are represented. The issue is that "everyone is using swords." Aside from my one gun-obsessed friend, I see three kinds of guns in use out of the many choices: Silversix line, Autogun series, and... Proto Gun. Haven't even seen a Needlegun or Pepperbox above their 3* versions.
Haven't seen a single Valiance, not a single Iron Slug or Callahan, never a Sentenza, nor any Alchemer outside my own group of friends. I was turned down when I offered a free Cryotech Alchemer to a guy who was still carrying a Proto Gun in a Tier 2 arena today.
We need people to care about guns... but in order to do that, we need to make the guns worth caring about. I see people carrying Blast Bombs more frequently than I see people carrying guns.
...Also, Radiant Sun Shards could use a 5* evolution. Haven't seen a single crystal bomb in use ever. (By the way, do crystal bombs set off enemy auto-dodge reactions?)
I shelved my Callahan for a Furious Flamberge. I love darting through packs of Devilites and Wolvers with it.
My Umbra Driver sees regular use as a sort of cure-all sidearm.
I've also been on some great runs with people that use the Radian Sun Shards. It can be really powerful in the same way an Alchemer is, just time things so that the monster is on top of the bomb when it detonates. Since it flings projectiles it can trigger dodge reactions.
Back to the arsenal expansion. These obviously aren't going to happen every month and I wouldn't expect another one soon. The Dev's have been mentioning that they have other things in mind for new content and probably have a rough outline for what they want to appear over the Summer.
I love the Ionized Salt Bomb, Idk bout the Radiant Sun Shard, but it does set off enemy auto dodge reaction, but when aim well, it does some nice knockdown on the opponent, maybe due to shock? Haven't got the chance to test Radiant, so idk if Radiant does knockdown or not :P
Yes, they definitely need to upgrade it to 5* and fix the 4* ctr being slower than 3* ctr. Yes it's true. My 4* Ionized Salt Bomb Max ctr charge as fast as a 3* Rock Salt Bomb low ctr.
Add bombs available from Jtoken. xD
Haven't got the chance to test Radiant, so idk if Radiant does knockdown or not
It knocks down quite well. A few people are quite good at locking enemies in repeat knockdowns with it.
Nice nice, can't lock down teleporting wolvers with radiant but it's better than any other bomb. Loses out to flourish line of course.
But i think they should focus on monster/stage content first. Especially when you consider, they could open up unused weapons and armors by creating new monsters and stages.
they could find the 10 most unused/underused 5* equipment, and tailor the ingame content to be weak to those armors and weapons.
I've got an Ascended Calibur and Fiery Pepperbox as my standard loadout, but have yet to make the jump to tier 3 as my armour still needs work. The Autogun series is pretty good for hosing down monsters with bullets. The big drawback is that you can't move and shoot, which leaves you open to getting clobbered by monsters - especially if you fire twice and get stuck in the reload animation as they close the distance. For this reason I'm thinking of switching back to my Blaster and levelling it up to a Master Blaster or possibly even a Valiance. The Magnus series has the same problem of not being able to move and shoot.
Once I've got my Calibur up to 5* I'll probably start working on a Brandish with the aim of eventually turning it into a Combuster, just because I love the look of it.
We don't need an arsenal expansion. So many weapons are in the data code of the game and can be given to us at any time ( such as the *5 troika line weapon ). I'd much rather they release equipment that has already been made than make completely new ones.
I think there is enough armor, guns, swords, and bombs for the moment why? Majority of the players in this game only use Vog Set with Grey Owlite shield. Unless people stop being cookie cutter players and start well trying out new armor sets and such its pretty much useless.
Well I'd love an elemental area pure damage bomb as well as an upgrade to the shard types, with the shards exploding when they fly in detonation range of enemies (detonation range could be like the radius of 2*-3* haze bomb types)
They'd even be useful for FSC.
More bosses/boss areas could help the limited choice of armor. (you really don't need anything but fire resist and normal/elemental defence; well it helps the most; soloing most of FSC while rarely getting hit isn't all that hard anyway, but tell that to someone who's new to FSC; free CTR (bombs) or free attack speed (swords) just seal the deal for most people)
edit: And of course some armor is just stupidly outclassed. (bombastic, chaos, some of the gun armors perhaps (never checked em out), single monster type damage armors perhaps, some of the magican themed stuff just doesnt offer offensive aspects in a game where dodging is mostly possible (at least they give nice status resists))
it would be better if the autogun series could at least move the speed like your carrying a bomb or slowly rotate so you can something (has the autogun, regret buying it even though it was cheap at 1K before the crafting patch)
I was kinda disappointed with the last update.
The weapons were kinda cool, but they could've made them better.
Like the Furious Flamberge could've been the Phoenix Flamberge.
And the charge attack could've fired out a big Phoenix like a Falcon Punch.
The Rigadoon was kinda pointless, it just served to obsolete the Magus/Callahan.
I would have preferred it being a Shock type weapon, since Shock resembles more of a paralyzing attack.
This and it probably would have made it worth using.
Really, I'm not expecting there to be another Arsenal Update any time soon.
Too much other stuff they have to put in to the game besides more broken weapons.
Just made my magma driver and it's a beast!
With the medium slime dmg from my volcanic salamander set and it's own unique medium slime UV i'm using it for entire JK runs. Maximum slime dmg!
Yeah, most of the weapons I named are quite good! I just... rarely and/or never see people using them. It's swords all the way down, most runs. If we could get more people using them, we wouldn't need another arsenal expansion right away.
I wonder if people get turned off from guns due to the fact that the Proto Gun and Blaster deal so much less damage than the equivalent-star "generic" swords. And the Proto Bomb's tiny disappointing blast radius might possibly maybe could be turning people off from bombs. (Seeing bombs in action, at least, dispels this illusion. Seeing someone else with a gun doesn't tell you how much damage he's dealing though.)
But rebalancing these weapons to make them more attractive yet not overpowered... is probably almost as much work as releasing whole new weapons from scratch anyway...
both of my real life friends who play this game has some kind of gun.... one has a UV attack speed High Super Blaster, My other friend has a Cryo Driver... I have a Cryo Driver (my baby) a Mega Magnus (my other baby) and a Super Blaster. (my forgotten red-headed stepchild)
At one point (long ago) I had an autogun.
I do see people with guns... but most of the time its an antigua line something... more often than not, silversix or argent peacemaker. (ID get a Black Hawk for PvP in a flash though)
I also have a Viel Striker, but I tend to use whatever gun im carrying... probably 60-75% of the time.
guns are pretty sweet.
Guns can be good, but there aren't enough people using them over swords, is the problem.
Hmm. There are only five kinds of guns with 5* forms...
Alchemer series
Antigua series
Magnus series
Blaster line
Autogun series
And even fewer bombs:
Blast Bomb series
Haze Bomb series
Graviton Vortex
(Crystal Bomb series stops at 4*. Sadface.)
...Whereas before the Flourish and Brandish upgrades introduced in the previous expansion, there were only four 5* sword series.
Calibur series
Sealed Sword series
Fang of Vog
Cutter series
Hmm. I guess if they're gong to add more new kinds of weapons, they could start with bombs next expansion. Guns have an alright selection, though they're maybe a bit heavy on Piercing.
I agree there is a cookie cutter thing happening, but thats really due to the T3 boss more than anything else, I think we'll see it change more after the CORE? Maybe.
Anyways we saw a sword expansion, it would be cool to see a bomb and gun expansion follow. Would also like to see some of the current stuff revamped a bit to get people more interested in using them!
Whoa, Valiance was the first gun I got.
I think there are enough weapons atm. I've crafted my Callahan and Storm Driver just recently and I'm still working on my Vile Striker, Blackhawk and Master Blaster. I've crafted Freezing Vaporizer Mk II some time ago but I didn't have enough time to play with it yet. Then I want to try other bombs too but it will take some time to check them out. After that (we're talking about late autumn here) I'm thinking about swords - I'd like to play a bit with Brandish, Flourish and Khorovod line at first. Sealed Swords are a bit lame, and very cookie cutterish, but maybe it's worth to get one eventually (GF maybe). So yea, I don't need any weapon expantion for at least half a year :-D
I'll add my own $0.02 to this:
I think your personal observations are quite different from what's actually going on. The most common guns I see in use are Alchemers of all sorts, be in my guild or with random players. After that are the Antigua variants, and while Silversix/Peacemaker tend to be more common due to use in FSC, I still see people with Blackhawk/Sentenza. If someone really did turn down a Cryotech (which is the version I use) in favor of a proto gun...well, some people are beyond help.
I've seen autoguns in use really only by newer players. They seem to like that they can hose enemies, but one they play long enough to realize that they can't move and make great targets while firing, then those guns tend to go away. I can't remember the last time I saw anyone using an autogun or magnus in T2.
As for bombs, my bomb of choice is the Ionized Salt Bomb. The shock damage is great on enemies that are resistant to piercing damage. I've managed to clear out robo arenas just by kiting with the ISB. The long range of the shards is also useful for hitting switches and distant enemies. When I'm with a larger group and I know we'll be hitting arenas, then I switch to the Shivermist Buster for crowd control.
In my opinion, the problem with the Flourish line is inherent in its design--the piercing damage. Jellies and constructs tend to be all over the place, and unless you enjoy switching weapons just to deal with those, the Flourish becomes a liability. The reason you see people using the same swords over and over is their utility. It's often better to have all-around usefulness (high normal damage) compared to something that will be great against one class of enemies but terrible against others. The Brandish line benefits from the expansion as there are now 5* versions that do both normal and elemental damage, but most people aren't familiar with them and have stuck with the Calibur and Sealed Sword lines.
I'd say that it's worth finishing some of the weapon series and adding 5* versions of those that end at 4*, such as the crystal bombs and the Khorovod. I don't think it's worth greatly expanding the arsenal again, as others have pointed out.
As for armor sets, people tend to go after a few different factors, leading to a lot of the same choices--damage/speed increases for either gun, sword, or bomb, with fire resistance important to those running FSC. If you want variability in equipment use, then there needs to be a wider range of cost/benefits for different sets.
*raises hand* I use a Callahan (magnus line) But, I don't use it for damage dealing so much as crowd control, either to stop things in their tracks, or cause them to dodge away. They're pretty good for picking out the butterflies, and stopping monsters like gremlin demos so they stop hopping around.
I think the magnus line has a bit over the autoguns, because it doesn't root you down for long, and as long as you have good timing you'll never have to stop and deal with the slow reload. I wouldn't use it specifically for damage like other guns, but I don't believe that was what it was designed for.
Either way, I hope that if there is a new expansion, it deals with bombs, I just looked at them, and there really isn't any variety at all. One of my friends was hoping maybe there will be bombs we can throw like the gremlin demos do.
I actually think things are reasonably balanced, but would like to see the firing mechanics and elemental qualities of certain guns revised. I'd like to see Autoguns get some kind of semi-auto firing option to give them a bit of survivability when needed. I'd like to see Sentenza have its firing range equalized with its lower-star version. I'd also like to see the Sentenza and Argent lines move to a 1/4th and 3/4th element model rather than half-and-half. Dual elements, when one isn't normal, tend to be sub-standard for PvE due to the fact that resistance beats weakness by a large margin.
I'd also really like to see all the 4star weapons get a 5star end point. Especially Khorovod.
I wonder if Antigua guns could be left as half-and-half damage types, but Blackhawk could be changed to Normal/Shadow. From a gameplay standpoint, it now has both damage types that the Silversix doesn't, and now isn't terrible against Beasts, Constructs and Slimes, which the Silversix sucks against (though you'll still have problems hitting Wolvers). Problem is that it might not make 100% logical sense from a "story" standpoint-- changing the nature of the bullets.
Then again... the Normal-type Autogun can become a Piercing-type Needle Shot. It's not out of the question that the reverse could happen with the Antigua becoming a Blackhawk.
i think we still need more weapons. but good ones, to simply give us the option. its pretty much everyone using the same ones.
and there are unfinished paths, like shocking and searing edges.
They should start by making all or at least most weapons useful. Everyone is using the same few swords and it's kinda boring.
