Why aren't guilds more elaborate?

Guild content is so..small.

I'd love to see guilds being able to form alliances and then use /a chat to let the officers and GMs of said guild talk.

And for some reason I'd like to see a special part of haven that's divided in sections, Alpha, beta, gamma, etc etc where you can actually see the outside of your guildhall. With maybe a garden and stuff. The strongests guilds would reside in Alpha and the smaller ones obviously lower.

That would be so much cooler than just entering a building then selecting the hall you want to be in.

What I'm getting at is kind of the guilds in Oblivion and Skyrim, which are actually situated on specific locations in town. More expanded guilds would have a nice exterior. Or maybe even have a player designed exterior and surrounding garden.

Sounds like your talking about gang wars in Grand Theft Auto

Do you have a picture to go with this so we can see what it looks like?

Agreed

I completely agree with this idea. Spiral Knights needs to become more social friendly. For example, in Maplestory you can form alliances with other guilds, you can do Guild party quests, you can even form a family.

I was rofl when you connected that pic. Nice touch scirio...

Now on to the OP. Yes, we need new content for guilds. Yes, guild alliances would be nice (if designed right) and has been suggested by many other people. But, I'm not sure how the whole guild exterior thing would work. That would require a large area to be programmed and coded into the game that would serve no other purpose other than aesthetics. And how would guilds be ranked to go into which building? It can't be LD, because guild LD points only serves to show how much your guild actually does LD, not how good they are at it (Jempire being the perfect example). It can't be the monetary value of the guild treasury or how many upgrades were bought, because then guild rankings would be Pay to Win.

We already have the guild hall building in the garrison, there really isn't any need to build another one.

Oh allow me to elaborate on

Oh allow me to elaborate on that.

You see, I kind of hate how there's one building in the garrison for EVERY guild hall. Having my own spot, or rather my guild having an own spot, in haven would be really nice to see.

I also foresaw it would take a large area of programming, which is why I suggested multiple sections e.g. alpha, beta, gamma, etc etc.

So every new section you enter would take you through a new loading screen. Otherwise you'd have to load an immense area all at once.

However I'm not sure how the guild ranking would work, but still I'd like to see it.

But you see, you already have your own Guild hall interior that is (almost) fully customizable, so I don't see why you want an exterior as well. It just seems a bit excessive for an MMO, where there is the possibility for an unlimited number of guilds, as long as there are new players to create said guilds.

And also, you reference to the Elder Scrolls franchise is invalid, as they are not MMOs. There are only a fixed number of guilds in the game, so giving them all unique and specific areas that can be customized by the player is tolerable. Imagine if Skyrim were an MMO, and there were random 3 story buildings popping up every 3 minutes created by players, and being destroyed at the same rate. And they all had to be rendered in real time when you came close to the area. It just wouldn't work.

I can't wait for the elder scrolls online!~

I'm curious to see how the implemented the guild system in their mmo.

If it goes welll I think OOO can learn from it.

You do realize that the present guilds found in Elder scrolls, like the Thieves Guild, Mages College or Dark Brotherhood are functions of the game, and not player made. So they would not function any different then they do now in any current Elder Scrolls game. I was referring to a new system that they would implement if they allowed player made guilds. And unless they were to do something like enemy factions built in to the game that a player can join and battle against other player infested factions for territory, guilds would probably only serve the functions of gamer tags and clans, similar to games like CoD where all it is is a similar title under the name that serves no purpose.
